The thing I love in this series is interesting characters. Mysteries aren't that exciting and things get revealed pretty slowly. But I enjoy these books because they are cozy so they are the right choice if I want to read something comfortable. I love to follow characters' lives, for example now I was curious to see if someone starts a relationship with someone or not.

Cold and wet here in Perth. Will be doing lots of reading. I have 3 of this series to read. 2 of them thanks to @CarolynM . I must say I‘m really invested in the characters and their lives rather than the mystery . I also learn a few facts from the archaeology aspects of all her stories . However this mystery was quite good.
Thank you @CarolynM .

Went out to get the bins and on the porch was a parcel. Thank you so much @CarolynM . I'm reading one of hers right now that I found in an op shop. Can't wait to get into these. Escape reading for me. And a week of sunshine here. I've still got a spot. Horror house not finished so sun still getting through. ☀️☀️🌞🌞

CarolynM Hope they‘re good ones🤞😘 2y

The Blackstock family are keeping secrets, and Ruth Galloway is in danger of digging them up, pun intended. When a body is discovered in an old WWII airplane, Ruth suspects that it was moved from somewhere else, and thus begins the tale. Ruth lands in the middle of it all, with more personal complications adding to the mystery. This is such a wonderful series. Don‘t miss it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

LiteraryinPA I read the first 3 in the series and liked them, but then I somehow lost the thread because I never continued. This is a good reminder to borrow book 4 from the library! 3y

Nearly home time on a Friday so thought I'd post last weekends reading. Book 7 in the Ruth Galloway series and while still enjoyable a few of the plot lines creaked a bit and it felt a little bit formulaic . Still what I like about the series is the scenery ( must visit Norfolk) and the archaeological theme. Here a ww2 missing bomber crew , son of a landed family is found not at sea as believed but in a buried single plane. Much nastiness follows

I thought this was book 22 of #Scarathon2021 @Clwojick #TeamSlaughter but checking my list for October I see I made a mistake and this actually book 23. Anyway, I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I liked this plot better and the continued interaction between the characters is so good. 5⭐ #SpookOween #Necronomathon @Patchshank #Wickedathon @StayCurious #LittenListen @aperfectmjk #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Book number 7 ! I laughed through most of this book. Griffiths characters certainly come shining through the pages of this one. As always, a dead body, the need force forensic archeologist, and Ruth is once again helping Nelson solve a mystery. Will Ruth find love this time? Stay tuned. Or read this book! 4.5 ⭐

emmaturi I love this series! I am trying to get my hands on the latest installment 5y

Yet another great book in the Dr. Ruth Galloway series. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great characters, as usual, and a unique plot. Bonus, hubby is currently reading The Crossing Places, the first book in the series, and loving it. So great to have mutual books to discuss. Photo from the remains of an abbey in Somerset whose name I can‘t remember, but I figured it was atmospheric enough to accompany this review😄

Crazeedi Thank you for giving me another series to dig into! It looks very interesting !😉 6y
Crazeedi Have you read any of the DCI Banks books? 6y
Lynnsoprano @Crazeedi I haven‘t. I‘ll have to add those to my TBR. 😄 6y

Weaponxgirl Hey! I‘m from Norfolk and I‘m a guardian reader! I feel personally attacked here 😉😂 6y

Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 the really funny thing is to me is that he would have plenty of drugs and ram raids to investigate right now too. We ain‘t THAT peaceful, but also not that bad 6y
Andrew65 @Weaponxgirl unfortunately that would be true everywhere! I love spending time in Norfolk, love Hunstanton in particular. 6y
Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 yes, that is indeed the case. We‘ve just had a bigger problem with the county line drugs gangs more recently. It seems to be coming from London gangs and has recently taking a particularly Nast turn with more knife crime in certain areas here. Norfolk is still super safe! The coast is always wonderful! If bloody cold 6y
Lynnsoprano @Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 I haven‘t made it to Norfolk yet on a trip to England, although it‘s definitely on my radar because of this series. Also, we have friends in Cambridgeshire who have suggested it to us as a place to visit, as we have been walking with them. In fact, that‘s the friend who introduced me to this series, and my husband is now starting the first book in the series. 6y
Lynnsoprano @Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 I get occasional emails from a group called England Explore. As luck would have it, I received one today about East Anglia. They make Norfolk sound like an appealing destination, and I think I need to add the Broads to my “must see.” 6y
Weaponxgirl @Lynnsoprano the broads are lovely and I would also recommend my city of Norwich. If you made it here let me know and I will show you around 😊 look up the arcades in Norwich , it‘s genuinely lovely and right next to the market 6y
Andrew65 @Weaponxgirl The Broads are great, but never made it into Norwich yet. @Lynnsoprano 6y

I need a Ruth Galloway fix😄 I‘m trying to space these books out, but it‘s hard not to binge read them. Hubby has started on The Crossing Places, the first book in the series. I bought that in Cambridge on the recommendation of the friend we were visiting, and I much prefer the cover of that British edition to those used on the American books.

MallenNC I did the same thing with this series. I wanted to binge but I made myself space them out. Now I‘m caught up and impatient for the next one! 6y

Another good installment in the Ruth Galloway mystery series. The mystery in this one was unique, but my only complaint is that the ending was sparked by the killer just confessing sort of out of the blue, rather than the clues adding up. But I really read this for the non-mystery storyline about Ruth and her complicated life. I'm glad there are a few more of these before I catch up on the series.

LauraBrook I just finished the first in this series a couple of days ago! Really liked it, and went out and bought the rest of the books through this one. 💸 7y
MallenNC @LauraBrook It is one of my favorite series. Ruth's job and the mysteries that each story involves are so interesting to me, and then all the life/relationship threads also keep me reading! I think there are three more after this. I make myself wait a little bit between books so I don't read them all too quickly. 7y

Still enjoying Ruth and dying to see how her and 👮🏼 relationship evolves in the next novel! This plot was a little weaker for me, but I'm totally reading for these awesome characters anyway 😁 I can't believe I only have one more to read and then I'll have to wait until February and then who knows how long after that 😳😟 I just don't want it to end!!

This most recent entry in Griffiths' series featuring forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway is just as entertaining and engaging as her earlier work. Ruth is called in to investigate the body of a WWII airman found in an old plane unearthed during a construction project. She encounters all sorts of mysterious incidents as the investigation links the body to the Blackstock family, landed gentry who have inhabited Norfolk for hundreds of years.

[DELETED] 2232195534 One of my most favorite mystery series! I love Ruth's character! 8y
