#WickedWords number four for July: #colonel, found in Hither, Page.

Absolutely loved this book. Set after WWII James moves to a small English village and is the village doctor. A death happens that appears to be mysterious. So, Leo is sent by his boss to investigate. James recognizes Leo even though he gives a false background from the war. James has PTSD from the war and Leo is triggering it. And they team up to find the killer. This is a M/M romance.
Thanks for the rec Book Riot! #getTBR
Received my quarterly TBR recs from Book Riot today! #GetTBR
Haven‘t heard of any of these books and they all sound great! They sound like they‘ll be good for the season as well.
I usually don‘t enjoy romances but something about this one called out to me.
Finished my reread, so now I feel ready to read the sequel! I do love how good James is, and how Leo falls for him because he keeps being so kind despite everything, and how James falls for Leo because despite all his bluster about being a bad man, he wants to find the solution without messing up everyone's relationships.
#BookSpinBingo continues apace -- I expect to finish two lines this month, for once! Outside chance I could go for three.
This was a cute cozy mystery romance. It takes place post WW2 in a small town in England, so total charming set up. However, it never really caught my attention and I found myself skimming quite a bit. I think I just need more suspense and tension in my mysteries. Well written so I‘m giving this a pick, just not my favorite. 3.5⭐️

#noshamereadathon22 - cozy mystery
Kicking off the year with a pretty great reading month! (The page for The MissingPage remains missing, lol 😂) I definitely leaned hard on some favorite rereads in the first half of the month. I regret nothing. 😊 I posted the review for my favorite January read a few days ago - the big take away being that it‘s a sweet, nuanced romance - wrapped in a cozy, Agatha Christie-esque, mystery. It builds beautifully on the previous book and ups the ante
God, I missed these two! Just finished The Missing Page (can‘t find it on Litsy yet) and was delighted to spend some quality time with Leo and James.
Still no page for The Missing Page, so I‘m posting my review here:
Oh my goodness, I really enjoyed this cozy romantic mystery! What seems like a straight forward mystery is complex & has wonderful resolutions. Their romance has so many sweet nuances & quietly explosive emotions. With a slower beginning that subtly snow balls into briskly paced revelations, this book is even better than Hither, Page. I look forward to future rereads with relish!
Just finished (yet another!) reread, this time in preparation for The Missing Page!
The way Sebastian grows this relationship gives me all the warm fuzzies. I've read so many books where the couple comes to an understanding in Book One, and Book Two opens with already a misunderstanding and separation -- a will-they-or-won't-they forced to drive reader engagement that I find vexing. But Leo and James are utterly different here.

Finally, a sequel.

Aand I found a pile of #bookmail when I got home!!! At least half of it is Christmas gifts 😁I‘m totally going to add all of these to my shelves and count on my hunny‘s general disregard for books to keep him speaking to me 😶
Another nice book finished!
Now I have to choose another one for the #awesomeAugust #readathon by @andrew65... 3 books left 🤟🏻🤩
I made some progress for the #awesomeAugust #readathon hosted by @andrew6 🤟🏻
I planned to finish this tomorrow 'cause now here in Italy is almost midnight and I had a full day, so I'm kinda tired 😅
Tomorrow I will not have a lot of time to spend reading... I hope to finish this one today 😉
32% through
Four books left for the #awesomeAugust #readathon hosted by @andrew6... I really don't know if I should keep reading the tagged book or start something new 😅😅
As the #awesomeAugust #readathon by @Andrew65 will start in few hours, here you are my goals:
1. To Finish the Karamazov brothers
2. To Finish Hither, Page
3. To Read Rage
4. To Read Candide
5. To Read Lolita
6. To Read Ghost House
🤟🏻 Let's read!
#weekendreads @rachelsbrittain
1. The tagged book and 'The Karamazov brothers'
2. Art-therapy and doing puzzle
3. 'The Stepford wifes' by Ira Levin ❤
When Page looked back on this case, he didn't want to remember that he had made James Sommers lie. 'Can I buy you dinner? Is there anywhere to eat other than the Rising Sun?' It was too many questions all at once, a sign of nervousness, and Leo wanted to kick himself.
James opened his mouth and snapped it shut, then ran his hands through his hair. It was as if they were having a nervous habit contest. 'The Rising Sun is fine.'
Squee, this book 🥰
Gobbled this up yesterday. It's not as romance focused as I think other Cat Sebastian readers might be expecting, but the romance is sweet. There are a couple of non-sexual intimate moments that were really nicely done.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. All of its elements are things I love: Post-War Britain, Quirky Country Villages, Romance, Spies(!!)... But it just never coalesced into the story I was looking for. It was sweet but disjointed and I found myself frustrated in trying to follow the actual murder mystery.
1. No. I might consider a book because of a nice cover, but a bad one won't put me off
2. As an e-book
3. For Australian Littens: Shaun Micallef.
For everyone else: The Age (Melbourne paper), the ABC & SBS (Aus. public broadcasters), The Guardian (UK & Aus.), the New Daily (Aus. union supported news site), the BBC, my state & federal MPs (both Labor women)
4. Snooze, always.
5. @Freespirit @SaturnDoo
Thanks for the tag @kspenmoll

This counts as a Christmas book right? It‘s so much fun and I need more books I can include in my Christmas roundup!
I like the characters, the setting and the potential for more books. Pretty please.
Well heck, that was sweet, and I called one of the murderers. Huzzah!
I want more books in this series.
...when the Kindle sample ends, but noooooo, you must read more.

This was a refreshingly sweet story. Or at least as sweet as murder and spy craft can be! Very much in the vein of Agatha Christie, but sweeter, and with more romance. I absolutely loved this little nugget of a story! And I am waiting with baited breath for the next installment of Page & Sommers!
