Yes, this book is funny, but it also makes a person want to cry because of its accuracy. Teaching is hard, and if you want to get a little insight as to why, read this book. The section on parents is particularly enlightening.

This book was hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud at the antics and craziness that is being a teacher. Also as a teacher it was nice to hear that lots of people go through the same ridiculous things
I‘m an elementary school teacher and this book is so relatable. Reading it during my prep and cracking up so much. The stories are unbelievable yet I‘ve had similar situations happen to me.
Got this one for $.99 on Black Friday. Loved it. You‘d think a teacher wouldn‘t want to spend their evenings reading about the insanity of someone else‘s teaching experience. Honestly- it made me feel better to know that I am not the only educator experiencing all the crazy! 😊 And I loved the way she ended the book: “Sometimes teaching is impossibly hard and heartbreaking and sometimes (though much less often) it‘s amazing, fun and inspiring. 👇
The author definitely nails it, especially the chapter about the racket that is testing.
Having taught/counseled for 30+ years, I could really relate to this book. It is hilarious at times, but it is also sad. I've been in really great school districts and others that had a lot of administrative weaknesses. I have encountered personal threats, cutting, and violence.Among others, the author discussed ineffective (or lack of) discipline, standards/testing, classroom management, and parents. God bless teachers 👨🏫
I‘m sorry. I always want to support fellow teachers but I felt like this book wasn‘t balanced at all. It was horrible anecdote after horrible anecdote. There were very few funny or happily humorous stories in here at all- unless they were packed all at the end. I couldn‘t finish it. I would never have gone back to my classroom this week! If her experience was this awful why did she stay? Why would anyone stay?
There‘s no pigeonholing me! Lol. https://www.bookbrowse.com/quiz/
If I had to go through what this woman went through I would quit my job. I expected it to be funnier. I also did not enjoy how extremely negative it was. 💁Still going to pass it on to my teacher homies.
Finished the book in one sitting, and although it had some laugh out loud moments because I could relate, it seemed to be a teacher letting off steam. It may be things that need to be talked about, but not what I was looking for nor expecting. Many may love it, but too bitter for me. Made me thankful I teach where I do. In 23 years, I have never had the amount, nor the gravity of experiences she has had, and I have taught in multiple schools.
Really looking forward to reading this for the remainder of the break. It has been a heck of a year so far and I need the laughs.
Light read, some good moments but I feel like the instagram account is more interesting than this book.
As a teacher, I always said I was going to write a book about my experiences. I feel like when I read this, I will see some of my own students in its pages.
Buy this for your teacher friends so they know they aren't alone. I thought this book was a very stark look at the majority of problems teachers face today: students, parents and administration. This book is a funny quick read that examines what like os really like for teachers. A lot of sad truths
This book is making me sad. Not because it isnt a good book, I am actually really enjoying it. But the situations are so sad and reflects where society is right now and how teachers are so underappreciated. It's discouraging to say the least.
I just finished the preface and I think this is going to be awesome! If not painfully honest and sad
This was both funny and sad. Funny because I can't believe the shit that students, parents and administrators pull. Sad because it shows how much bullying and bullshit teachers have to deal with. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy in return for a fair and honest review.
This is the funniest education-related book I've ever read!! A must-read for teachers!
Laugh out loud funny (or, if you're like me, cackle uncontrollably on the couch and annoy my family). An oh-so true look at today's teachers' experiences. A must read for every educator. It's nice to know we're not alone in the struggle and that the struggle is real!!
