I've made it to half way but I'm not going any further. I'm not finding it funny and I don't care where it's going. Bail.

7 covers, 7 days, no explanations.
Day 2: Hot pink edition hardcover (featuring shiny gold chains details) of The Clasp by Sloane Crosley.
(There are multiple editions that feature other colors.)
@schlinkles would you like to play?
I've been on a nonfiction kick lately, but tonight I feel like an escape. (Bonus dog in background.)
#uncannyoctober day 5 - garish
The most garish covers on my shelves are of the neon variety.
I turned my day hiding books into a vlog! You can check out my adventures over on my #BookTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/c/KendraWinchester
Did you guys participate? Has anyone actually found a book or seen one in the wild?

Good characters and great writing but something about how the whole story resolved just left me feeling a bit meh.
I made it halfway through the book, began to suspect that this was going to be some kind of retelling of the short story The Necklace, and gave up. Still don't care for the characters at all. Self-absorbed, unethical, and this is what passes for witty now? Reminded me way more of The Nest than of The Madwoman Upstairs (so if you liked The Nest, you'll probably like this one). I guess there's a slight literary element to it, but not fun at all.
I'm a third of the way through this book, the adventure has yet to begin, and the characters are highly unlikable. I'm beginning to feel like anything popular and new and even mildly critically acclaimed is going to have self-absorbed, unlikable characters and good gosh, can people not just be nice and mildly quirky and intelligent anymore?

?New Podcast Episode Day?⠀
Since it's our birthday month, so this month's theme is co-hosts choice, which means we picked whatever we wanted. We are featuring six books that we've been dying to read, including THE CLASP. It's loosely based off the short story "The Necklace." Books about books is the prompt for today's #ReadingWomenMonth challenge. ⠀

It's finally summer break!! Bring on the lakeside reading ? (with a little rosé on the side ☀️)
Also, im loving this picador edition I snagged at Indie Bookstore Day. Yes, I'm still working through my haul. I'm an educator I've been a little busy ?
@bookriot #riotgrams day 13 - pink covers
There are three different colored covers to this book, and I loved the pink one. I also love the detail on the hardcover itself!
After a long, cold day I grabbed two things I knew would warm me up. Have you read the Clasp? SO GOOD. (Whiskey's good too 😁)
Went a little overboard at the Twin Cities Book Festival today given my pact that I'd only get 2 books. Couldn't help myself. Look at these beauties! And the only one that isn't used is the Milkweed book on publishing that I thought would be fitting to own (: 📚🎉 I'm most excited to start The Clasp!
Oh man I *really* want to read this! Personal recommendations from well-read friends are the best thing in the world, I reckon!
One of my finds yesterday at the #DecaturBookFestival.

I was excited to read Sloane Crosley's novel debut since I have really loved all her essay collections. I grabbed it up right away, but I didn't see too much media about it. If you've read Guy deMaupassant's The Necklace, this book is for you! #augustphotochallenge #underhypedbook
This book is entirely entertaining from start to finish. Hilarious, twisted, and adventurous fun. A great beach read for the summer.
Smart and cynical, but also really sweet. The plot took a while to get going, but the characters propelled it forward well enough in the first half. This was a fun read, and I'm always a sucker for modern literature inspired by the classics.
Starting a new book at lunch today. I hope it's a fun one!
The kid and I have read Six Dinner Sid, Peter Rabbit and Peppa's Post today. But this one is for me. Found the author's essay collection to be hit or miss. But this novel is pretty good.
Put a review in the wrong space, forgive me. I had a hard time connecting to the three main characters. Took half the book to get the literary plot going, and then the whole thing ended abruptly. Disappointing but not awful.

I have literally been pining after this book for more than a year. Finally picked it up at my local bookstore last weekend. ✨💫
Just started "The Clasp." Feels like the perfect balance of enjoyable, easy read/not a total commitment while also being not a total waste of time ?? Will report back after reading more!
