Sunday evening reading...
I didn‘t hate this, but I certainly didn‘t love it and found it a bit of a slog to get through. The writing and the characters just didn‘t grab me. It could have been edited down, in my very humble opinion.
You guys, I have news!!! I just got engaged! Sooooo happy and excited! 😍❤️
🥰
I read the tagged book a few years ago, before Litsy existed, and I remember it being pretty interesting.
#engaged #sohappy
I loved this story. It tells the stories of different people in different time periods. The common theme is love, marriage, and diamonds. The story tells the details of life with different couples and some of singles that never marry. Highly recommend
I only cared about Jeff and Toby, and they were barely supporting characters. #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan #thankgoditsover
I‘ve finally made progress, and the end is in sight, so I might as well power through and finish it. I still can‘t say I‘m enjoying it, though, because three of the four focus characters are awful. #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan
Back to this for a little while; I‘m giving it one more chance before I DNF it. #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan
Still bored, but I‘ve had it so long that I feel compelled to actually read it. #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan
Does this get better? Because I have to admit, I‘m 50 pages in and don‘t really care about any of these people. 😐 #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan
I ran out of dice in Clue Bingo, so I guess it‘s time to crack this open! #theengagements #jcourtneysullivan
What to do on a snow day when you don‘t know what to read? Let your pen pal pick for you 😉 thank you so much for the book @Born.A.Reader ❤️ I‘m loving it so far!!
This month's book club choice had a lot to talk about but we recommend you keep track of names. Audio makes that tough! #bookclubchoices
I enjoyed this book which features a character who wrote the advertising slogan for DeBeers, "A #diamond Is Forever." It also follows the marriages of several couples. It pairs well with "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" by Neil #Diamond (the Streisand version). ??#lyricalapril
So had to do some shopping yesterday and I was surprised to find this gem in poundland of all places along with the blurays. I've been finding poundland have been getting in good books recently and have become a shocking place I now get books from. Past beauties discovered have been Emma donghue, mr fox and stuff long listed for the women's prize. #poundlandscore
I really enjoyed reading about the messy relationships of the characters. None were perfect, but they all worked for those in them. I was worried the novel wouldn't tie it all together, but it finally did. Interesting characters.
I've lived here my whole life and I don't get it either. Maybe I'm secretly a Parisienne...
Great character development. I liked that it developed each relationship separately; not the same old love story.
"Sometimes it just feels like we can't tell what we've given up until it's too late."
So far so good! I'm intrigued by the different stories about marriage. I am especially drawn to the first story centered on a woman in advertising, who came up with "A diamond is forever." Reminds me of Mad Men...
