Popular fantasy author Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld series) makes her first foray into crime fiction, with the debut of a series of non-paranormal novels featuring female assassin Nadia Stafford. Nadia Stafford is one of the worlds few female contract killers. A former cop, drummed out of the force because of a scandal, she is an expert at disguise and cool under pressure. But when fellow hitman Jack arrives on the scene, Nadias very private existence is seriously challenged. A series of victims are being murdered seemingly at random all over the country different areas, different walks of life, different MOs. There is nothing to tie them together except a random page torn out of a single book: Helter Skelter. But does the Helter Skelter killer as the hysterical media now dub him have a real connection to Charles Manson? Or is there something even more sinister at work? Is this, in fact as Jack believes the carefully planned exit strategy of a fellow professional killer, determined to leave the life, but equally determined to clear up an old mistake? And, if so, which is the real victim? Now, the highly suspicious and secretive hitman community will have to break their cover at least, to each other and help take down this killer before the cops and the Feds discover his true connection to their own secret, exclusive society. From the Paperback edition.

I was getting service done on my truck. What better ways to spend time than finishing this book. I have one more spot in the #ISpyBingoFebruary. Yep, I'm still working on this one. This is the first in the series of Nadia Stafford. She is a police officer turned assassin. #SeriesLove24 #ReadAway2024 #MarvelousMarchReadsthon. @Andrew65 @TheSpineView @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES #LitsyLoveReads

TheSpineView Hate waiting on car service. They always want to sell you something or get you to test drive a new car. All I want is to sit, read and be left alone. 8mo
LiseWorks @TheSpineView they have been after me for 2 years to trade my truck in. It's 5 years old and all paid for. Why would I go into debt to get a new one? lol. I keep telling them no. I don't even look cause I know I would be tempted 🤣 8mo
TheSpineView @LiseWorks Mine is 10 years old but only has 100K on it. Like you, I don't want car payments. I am not tempted. I still enjoy mine and plan to drive it until the doors fall off. 8mo
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! And I'm with you on keeping the current car... the guy is always like “your current car is very desirable, so we're interested in acquiring it.“ Yeah, it's desirable to ME 😂 7mo
LiseWorks @TheAromaofBooks oh I have to use that line next time. 🤣 7mo

Nadia was a cop but left after a scandal and is now making ends meet pulling off hits for some mobsters. Then a serial killer starts making the rounds who may be a hit man, shaking up the criminal underworld. I love Armstrong‘s Rockton novels, so I thought I‘d give this a try and it was fun! I‘ll definitely continue with the series. My only irritation was seriously loooooooong pauses on the audio.

DivineDiana I am experiencing the long pauses on my current audiobook. It‘s the first time that has happened, and it‘s strange! 3y

After a busy week with house guests & lots of peopling due to several events related to a friend‘s wedding, I‘m enjoying a lazy Sunday reading with a cup of tea & a bookish mug. Had to share that little “a-ha” moment when you find the book‘s title. #Introverting #Recharging #SundayReading

Christine Always love that moment! 🤓 5y

I really enjoyed this book. A professional hitwoman and wilderness lodge owner goes on an adventure to find a hitman who has gone rogue. This book was a page turner with very interesting characters. It left me wanting to know more and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I've been a big fan of Kelley Armstrong since her early years of writing the Otherworld series. I love that she has branched out from the paranormal to other genres and this series about a female hitman (hit-woman?) from Canada did not disappoint. I'm not sure why I put off starting this series for so long but I plan to read the other two sometime this year. #56of2018 #13inThree

Anitareads This one it's on my TBR for so long. I think I might read it soon too ☺ 6y
Bookworm54 I love this series! Women of the other world are some of my favourite books, but this trilogy is by far my favourite work of hers :) 6y
ravenlee I'm glad you enjoyed it! Word if warning - take some time between reading this trilogy and starting the Casey Duncan books. They're good, too, but Casey and Nadia have a lot in common and it made it hard for me to go from one straight to the other. 6y

Chellebearss @Anitareads you should :-) it was pretty good 6y
Chellebearss @Bookworm54 Otherworld is one of my all time favourite series! I loved Elena and Clay 😃 6y
Chellebearss @ravenlee no worries about that as I‘ve already read all three Rockton books :-) I‘ve skipped a couple YA (the school shooting book) and most of her short stories but I think I‘ve read the rest except for the rest of this series. 6y

Traci1 I used to live in Northern Vermont, and we'd drive into Canada (we lived about half a mile from the border) just to get poutine. I don't miss much about Vermont, but I do miss poutine. 6y
ravenlee I really like that trilogy. It was a nice change of pace from her otherworld series. 6y
Chellebearss @Traci1 Poutines would be an awesome reason to cross the border! 😃 6y
Chellebearss @ravenlee I don‘t know why I put off reading it for so long as I am enjoying it! 6y

Any Armstrong fans out there like her Nadia Stafford series?

MeganAnn I haven't read this series yet, but I really enjoyed her women of the otherworld series when I read it a number of years ago in my urban fantasy phase. I'm curious to see what you think of this one when you get around to it 😊 7y

Nadia Stafford and Jack from the Nadia Stafford trilogy are true to themselves. Yes they are secretly assassins, but Nadia only does it to keep her lodge afloat after losing her job. They both have a moral code, and don't pretend to be something they are not.

Rebekaaah I love the Nadia Stafford series, I don't think it gets enough love! 7y

This book took a very long time to have me interested....... It was a decent read. Not one of my favorites by Kelley that's for sure.

Amanda23 I felt the same way about the Nadia books. Only ones of Kelley's I can't get into. 8y
erickaa @Amanda23 I feel like the characters don't jump out at me like they did in her other books. I'm still going to finish the series to be thorough with her work :p 8y
Erika13137 Agreed. Not as good as her other series. 8y

I'm trying to rearrange my bookshelves following a complaint by my partner about how messy they looked... what has he started 😭

bookishkai This is going to be me later, we're embarking on a major clean and purge here of kitchen, guest room, and computer room in an attempt to look like civilized people and turn the guest room into an office and the computer room into my craft and reading room. Sometimes it has to get messy before it can get better. 8y
Mimi28 I bought some bins and that helped a little. At least my library books are separated from the books I own. 8y

Last book of 2016! 🎉🎊🎈I really loved this book. It had a little bit of everything. Suspense, murrrderrrr, women talking about murrrrderrrrr, a strong female lead! I'm so happy I found Kelley Armstrong through Litsy. Y'all are the best! (And big ups to Diesel for being so patient with me taking this photo) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

britt_brooke Diesel is a stud! ❤️ 8y

So many amazing #kickassheroines to choose from!

I am picking Nadia Stafford AKA Dee. Ex-cop turned hired assassin, she is incredibly kick ass!

She is also runs a secluded lodge where she provides outdoor activities (and not assassin related activities either where guests are concerned). The killing is just a way to keep the lodge going!

really enjoyed reading this one, not sure why I waited so long to read this as Kelley Armstrong had always been one of my favorite authors, but I'm so glad that I finally read it & also have the next two in the trilogy out from the library to read next 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Book haul! Hit a used bookstore today and found Exit Strategy, which I've been looking for since I bought Made to Be Broken earlier this year. I also picked up the 3rd book in R.A. Salvatore's Companions Codex, so now I need to find the first two books! The other books I found at the book exchange in the grocery store. The suggested donation is 50 cents, but I put in all the change I had so they were 87 cents each. What a bargain!
