I love Gail Carriger. Her books are always such a great escape. That ending had me shook though. I can‘t wait to see how this series ends.
#AwesomeApril A three book weekend so far. The sick hubby is sleeping a lot. lol @Andrew65

4.5- as always hilarious and funny, well still being emotional. The plot twist got me, she had me going on one train of thought as to what was going on. And I also appreciated another plot twist not part of the main plot as much. I loved the characters! And how they're diverse despite the time period. I would have liked more of Lord Ackaldama though since he wasn't actually in the book only mentioned.
I often keep memorabilia in my books. Notes from friends, post cards, extras that come with books and anything that strikes my fancy.
Been doing some cleaning and organizing. Found 11/9/16 library receipt from my 1st #BlameItOnLitsy Read of The Finishing School Series. Will be tucking that into my copy of Curtsies & Conspiracies.

"Funambulist,” said Sophronia Temminnick, quite suddenly.

Book 118, audio
The action seemed to slow down a bit in this one. Not sure what happened but it just didn't hold my attention like the others have. Not bad, will read again, just not my favorite from the set.
Weaving and listening to the last hour of my book. Flyaway men! #finishingschool #steampunk #YA #sophronia #bookthethird
1. Audiobooks are wonderful while I crochet, knit, or weave, but I love my paperbacks before bedtime.
2. Mystery any day
3. Hot Tea- black; strong; breakfast blend

3rd Time Reading Waistcoats and Weaponry and that Ending still gets me. 😭#great2020parasolversedoover
Cute and easy read, perfect for when I need something amusing!
Gail Carriger creates a delightful world with characters that I adore.
This is another fun book in the series. The focus definitely seems to be in setting up the next book. The motivation for and the conclusion of the big adventure wasn‘t completely satisfying. But I enjoyed the focus on the characters and their relationships.
2/5⭐ Much the same as the previous books: entertaining and frustrating at the same time. It was definitely a good idea to move the setting outside of the school to keep things fresh. Pillover is great and not showcased nearly enough.
I genuinely don't understand why Sophronia ever entertained Felix as a romantic interest. All of their interactions boiled down to:
Felix: *does something pompous*
Sophronia: “Damn he's adorable.“
???????????
Not my favorite of the series. As I've said before I don't enjoy love triangles. This book seemed to be more of a placeholder -a way for the story to move along- without having too much of a plot of its own. Not to say I think you can skip this book as it does have a surplus of character development.
1. Wouldn't really want to bring back any decade. Too many problems with all of them. I wouldn't mind having the peace that comes from childhood and the belief that the adults around me knew what they were doing.
2. Depends in my mood
3. Younger
4. Nope

I really enjoyed this installment, although I was nearly in tears by the last 15 pages or so. I can‘t get to the library for the fourth book until Thursday! So I‘ll just have to live in suspense and work on some other reads.
“One never knows when one might need to hide or distract; décolletage is good for both.”
How very true.
Before I walked uphill I had the pleasure to pass this building. I don't know (yet) what the dates and symbols refer to, but I'll find out.

✅ Animal
A lot of walking. But I only managed to take a picture of the fence near my pharmacy.

Another early morning appointment in town, I walked past the brewery and took a picture of the ✅statue (above the bingo chart) in front of it. I like the tree and old building much more.
Quite frankly, these bingo prompts make me look at my town with different eyes.
Also, started the #24B4Monday #readathon on my #audiowalk.

✅ Car
One of the narrow streets in the old part of town. I managed to parallel park in one of these streets last night, and my car is not a Beetle/Bug.
Also, the gable of the house I showed last night.
Late walk through the old part of town.
Church, old theatre building, and old house with a special gable (need to take a picture of it in daylight).

I'm filing this under ✅ Number - it us a street sign, in a way. It's for firefighters, water board road works. The red sign informs where the next underground pipe for water access is. The blue might not only point out fresh water but also sewer location.
Snowdrops!!! Blurry because I couldn't get close enough.

Busy day, but got several walks in. Sharing the #LitsyWalkersBingo one.
✅ Shoes - my son added his foot. So basically you can "see" my customary pair of sneakers, plus my new pair that my son is breaking in for me. ?

@Cinfhen yes. They came in yesterday but I didn‘t get them opened until this morning. I can now continue the series. yeah. Oh and a funny. The biggest package held the littlest item. Had to check the envelope which was as long as my arm to find the pins. i love them both. Thank you.

✅ Green Item - roof of the church in the middle of the old part of town (the one with the red phone box in front of it).
This is up next in the #ParasolProtectorate readalong, and the author has posted a link to “extras” in the Parasol Protectorate FB group. The last planned full length book in this universe, Reticence, is out later this year!
This book connected really well with the Parasol Protectorate and gives a new perspective on a character that isn‘t necessarily the most sympathetic. It was really fun!
Finishing School, book three.
Sophronia is back at finishing school, where the lessons in weaponry and comportment continue, with the addition of seduction techniques for spies. When her friend Sidheag gets a troubling letter, Sophronia and her cohorts sneak onto a train to help Sidheag get back to her werewolf clan in Scotland. Of course, the train leads them into danger and Sophronia once again finds herself caught up in a devious plot.
I am absolutely loving following Sophronia through etiquette/spy school. We are now in her second year, where she is as close as ever to her best friend Dimity. They are at a ball celebrating Sophronia's brother's engagement when their Scottish friend Sidheag shows up... She's in distress over the state of affairs with her werewolf pack. The girls pack up their contraband air dinghy and drift away with the self-assured Lord Mersey ⬇⬇
Whoops. Accidentally got this and the second book mixed up. I loved this one, I can‘t wait to see what the outcome with Soap will be.
This series just keeps getting better and better!! As the girls get older they are faced with more difficult choices. Their loyalties are questioned and they start to actually think for themselves. As they start to piece together the plots that have been going on since the first book they realize just how little they know and they must all make a choice as to who they‘re going to side with. They are passing from childhood into adulthood.
