Waiting to Be Heard
Waiting to Be Heard: A Memoir | Amanda Knox
Amanda Knox spent four years in a foreign prison for a crime she did not commit. In the fall of 2007, the 20-year-old college coed left Seattle to study abroad in Italy, but her life was shattered when her roommate was murdered in their apartment. After a controversial trial, Amanda was convicted and imprisoned. But in 2011, an appeals court overturned the decision and vacated the murder charge. Free at last, she returned home to the U.S., where she has remained silent, until now. Filled with details first recorded in the journals Knox kept while in Italy, Waiting to Be Heard is a remarkable story of innocence, resilience, and courage, and of one young womans hard-fought battle to overcome injustice and win the freedom she deserved. With intelligence, grace, and candor, Amanda Knox tells the full story of her harrowing ordeal in Italya labyrinthine nightmare of crime and punishment, innocence and vindicationand of the unwavering support of family and friends who tirelessly worked to help her win her freedom. Waiting to Be Heard includes 24 pages of color photographs.

Wow! A powerful memoir! I watched coverage of the case back when it happened & I didn‘t know what finally led to her release & this book cleared that up for me. I thought it was excellently paced & tells the events of each step of the judiciary process she went through in her own voice for the audiobook! I‘d have also been interested in hearing what her life after Italy & her imprisonment was like.

There has been so much written about Amanda Knox but this was her story. Listened to it on audio narrated by Amanda. It was good.

My pick for the #ReadingWomenMonth Challenge: Day 27: #Memoir is 📚Amanda Knox's #WaitingtoBeHeard 📚If you enjoyed the Netflix special, followed her case, or if you're just curious to find out more about what really happened - this book is for you. It is well written and very interesting. #AmandaKnox #TrueCrime #Netflix

Jess7 There is no comparison to the actual story which is a must read, but if any of you are looking for a couple fictional books that used this case for inspiration - I would suggest Cartwheel (it was only so-so for me) and this one (which was much better than Cartwheel): 7y

I remember back to the time this murder took place and the subsequent trial. The media sure painted her as guilty and that's what I assumed. That was until I read this story. If you like true crime, mysteries, memoirs, or detective stories then this is a must read. I read it as an ebook.

Jess7 Loved this book! Read it last year. 7y

I remember watching this story on Dateline shortly after the murder. And then following the story over the years. Amanda Knox did a great job writing her memoir! It's amazing how much the media blew things out of proportion back then. Of course, the treatment she received from the Italian police was ridiculous. Excellent narration by the author.

I've been interested in Amanda Knox and her ordeal since the beginning, and I have always been positive that she is innocent. The Italian government and "justice system" just infuriates me. I'm glad that I was able to read this and get her point of view. I can't imagine what she went through and still goes through because of ignorant, arrogant people. I can't imagine how I'd feel if that were my daughter. And I'm grateful for her that she's home.

Lacythebookworm For a great fictionalized account of this case, read 8y

I always wondered if she really did it. I'm only halfway through and I definitely think the media swayed the truth a lot. Well see how this ends...

Picked this up after watching the documentary on Netflix. Absolutely crazy how headlines can affect judgement even in court cases, this entire case now baffles me reading and seeing it from multiple point of views. Definitely recommend this if you want a refresher on the insanity of the case, and to read her side of the story since she wasn't exactly listened to during the trial.

Her story stirs up very passionate opinions about whether she was guilty or innocent so I'll keep my opinion to myself but her book is definitely a 🌟🌟🌟🌟 read

Godmotherx5 She looks completely different on the cover. I didn't recognize her. 8y
JPrecht I am so curious about this one. 8y
LynsLibrary @Godmotherx5 The book has some photos of her through her ordeal and she doesn't look like the same person 8y

Sarahr875 The Monster of Florence references her case, and Douglas Preston wrote a short article/book about it as well. I really want to read this and just never have yet 8y
Godmotherx5 Cartwheel is an interesting take on the story. Fictional but you know who inspired the plot. 8y
Godmotherx5 @Seascape I'd be more interested in your book post. I'm sure the stress took it's toll on her. 8y
LynsLibrary @Sarahr875 The monster of florence was brought up in her book as well, it was concerning the prosecutor in her case 8y
BethwithBooks I found Cartwheel to be so frustrating! Too similar to the actual events for it to really be fiction but too fiction to actually shed any light on the story. 8y
Godmotherx5 @BethandBooks I agree it did not shed any light. The author really held back as if you to lead but not tell you. I wondered if she knew something & had restrictions or was truly speculating. 8y

Went from fiction to conviction with my audiobook choices. 1 "part" in and already having lots of feelings.
