I ended up switching to audio which I enjoyed. Just finished today. It was very neat reading this and being so familiar with the places he references living in San Antonio myself. #WinterGames #ImpulseRead #TheFilthyAnimals

Found this #ImpulseRead at the library. I‘m fortunate to live in San Antonio so I am familiar with the Castro brothers. No matter who your favorite candidate is, he‘s worth getting to know. #WinterGames #TheFilthyAnimals
Julián Castro is third-generation Mexican American. His grandmother walked over the border as a 7-year-old orphan. She and his mother instilled two key values in Julián and his twin, Joaquin—education and public service. The writing reads quickly, it‘s not overly political, and the story is inspiring.

Tonight‘s read #readthecandidates
I‘ve been trying to get my #readthecandidates books from the library, when I didn‘t already have them on my shelves. But I had to break down and order these from Thriftbooks, since they weren‘t available from either of the two libraries I belong to. #bookhaul
I enjoyed this. Never having heard anything about Julián Castro or his family, I learned a lot about him. A Mexican American son of a single mother, he and his brother have achieved great things. I would have liked to hear more on his political ideas, as this is basically a straight autobiography. First book for #ReadTheCandidates
