Here‘s a good YA story of the enduring affects of 9/11 on those who survived, those who were saved by another‘s bravery, and those who were left behind.
Have you ever just finished a book and been like — “I LIKED that”? That‘s how I feel about this book. I just liked it a lot. It was a great book, and I‘m so glad I read it.
“I‘m hardwired to try to make other people feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations — which is both my favorite and least favorite thing about myself — and I don‘t think I can survive another second of this awkwardness.”
“This happens to me all the time. Things seem like a good idea until suddenly they‘re not.”
Still not sold on YA, but the themes that Julie Buxbaum focused on were extremely strong. Very heartfelt.
This book is a fictional story based in the real life event of September 11; I like Abbi; she is held up as an unwilling idol, but handles it with kindness. Now enter Noah, I don‘t like Noah; he uses blackmail to get Abbi to help him under the guise of a school newspaper article. Heartfelt, heart tugging and still hopeful.
1. This was so sweet.
2. Jecca. (Several of my younger siblings struggled with the S in Jessica.)

4. Going to Flagstaff for the weekend! Hence why I am answering early. 🙂
5. Four? It‘s Friday. C‘est vendredi. Es viernes. Es ist Freitag. I think all those are right? 🤔 #friyayintro
1. Read this last week. 😍😍😍
2. Crunchy is the only acceptable answer. 🤣
3. 🌅 Sunset!
4. All new appliances!
5. Fourth grade. My teacher was the best! We learned all about Native Americans that year, and she even took us all on an overnight camping trip where we had to eat Native foods and practice weaving and stuff!

Happy Saturday! I‘m off to the post office & grocery story in my “There‘s a Million Books I Haven‘t Read, but Just You Wait” shirt and my new Deathly Hallows earrings. 🎉 (And a hat, because it‘s gonna be 105 and I‘m too lazy for sunscreen.) I‘ve got my earbuds ready and Julie Buxbaum‘s HOPE AND OTHER PUNCH LINES to keep me company. What are you up to today? #audiobook
THIS is why I‘m drawn to YA. Tender, thought-revoking, humorous. Abbi was celebrating her first birthday on 911. An image of her being carried out of the building as an infant with a balloon is indelible and widely known-she was dubbed “Baby Hope.” Noah,a year younger, believes that a man in the background of the photo is his father who disappeared on that day. When the two meet at summer camp as counselors, an extraordinary relationship ensues.
Campy...remembering 9-11 a whole new way...first loves...bad puns...complicated family dynamics...real life fears...holding on...letting go...and moving forward. Before, during, and after life's big events shape our normal.
⭐⭐⭐/5.
I adore Buxbaum's writing style. Her contemporary voice is unique. This book was good, but her Tell Me Three Things hit me harder. I enjoyed the references or Easter eggs to TM3T in this book. The characters are fleshed out well and relatable while the plot lulls sometimes in flow. I will give a trigger warning for the 9/11 storyline. If you're into YA contemporary , Buxbaum is a must-read author.
YA is not my go-to genre but I do enjoy a YA book that has depth and believable characters. The two Julie Buxbaum books that I‘ve read definitely had both. This post-9/11 story certainly touched my heart in a very special way. I witnessed 9/11 live on TV like so many millions of us did — it changed everyone who witnessed it on some permanent level. Great job on a devastating topic!
Julie Buxbaum does it again with another amazing book! This book gave me all the feels and I didn't want it to end. Abbi and Noah are both dealing with the effects of 9/11 in different ways. Abbi became famous when a picture was taken of her when the towers were falling and Noah lost his dad on that awful day. When they meet they have no idea that they can help heal each other in the best possible way! I need another Julie book now!!!!
Today has been the day from HELL!!! Days like today make me wonder why I teach littles. But thank goodness with it being Teacher Appreciation Week the Owner of the school got us lunch and is giving up a two hour lunch break with one of the hours being paid. This two year old teacher right here is going to take advantage of this two hours and try to destress with a good book!
