Bobby's a classic urban teenager. He's restless. He's impulsive. But the thing that makes him different is this: He's going to be a father. His girlfriend, Nia, is pregnant, and their lives are about to change forever. Instead of spending time with friends, they'll be spending time with doctors, and next, diapers. They have options: keeping the baby, adoption. They want to do the right thing. If only it was clear what the right thing was.

I read this lovely book in a single setting! A story about a teen dad taking care of his daughter. The story bounces between when he first learned his gf was pregnant & the present day of him being a father. Fantastic story & makes me want more Ya books starring teen dad POVs

Saw that our book room at work had like 200 copies of this, so I assume another teacher taught it as a novel study at some point. Figured I would read it.

Sweet little story. It shows a some insight into the father‘s side of teenage pregnancy. I can see why it would be a good novel for teenagers to read.

I love unique character names. I know some people hate it, but I am super into it.
Here is a list of the characters and the books they're from.

This was a quick read o my lunch break the last 2 days and part of my goal to read the Michael Printz award list. Whether you‘re 16 or 26 or 46, that fear that you‘re going to screw up at parenting is the same, and I think Angela Johnson nailed it.

LibrarianRyan Such a good book ! 7y

Compelling account of life as a teen parent, specifically a young father. It captures the expected ups and downs, and throws in a few extra wrenches to make it a tear-jerker at times. I listened to this on Audible, and I really enjoyed the narration.

I had the pleasure of being exposed to this book through Audible's #ProjectListenUp.

My #litsyavatar #profilepicture is a selfie from a hiking trip I took this fall. A yoga studio hosted the hike, and we meditated at the top of the mountain. Other than reading, yoga is my go-to for #selfcare. @Chelleo

The book I tagged is a new #audiobook I started listening to this morning! I'll post more about digging into audiobooks later.

Chelleo That‘s sound like a great outing!!! I need to do more yoga but honestly I keep falling asleep. 7y
gjacobs @Chelleo I do the same if I try to do it at home! I prefer classes at studios or outings like the hike. 7y

Although the writing seems a bit flowery at times for teenage male narrator, I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick and engaging read. Like most "problem novels," it sheds light on a difficult subject that many teens are interested in. Unlike many simple "problem novels," it shows the deep, inner thoughts of the narrator. The organization of chapters creates suspense, insuring readers won't want to put it down. #diversebooks #ebook #overdrive

"But I figure if the world were really right, humans would live life backward and do the first part last. They'd be all knowing in the beginning and innocent in the end.
Then everybody could end their life on their momma or daddy's stomach in a warm room, waiting for the soft morning light."

A really short read. It's a simple story about a single teenage father trying to raise his daughter, and while it was emotional, it was a little too flowery for me.

The first of my five senior year summer reading books. Interesting, but sometimes hard to follow, and pretty sad. I'm a year older than the main character, and I can't even imagine my life like his. Well done, terribly sad ending.
