What else could I say...this is B.R.I.L.L.I.A.N.T.
Hands down one of my absolute favorite.

This was a reread and I actually didn‘t finish it. I loved it just as much as previous reads but I‘m finding it really hard to concentrate on reading. So looked up DVD. Local shop sent it out quickly and I spent all day watching it. Kept me going. Thought it was very good. Love Hugo Weaving. @MrsMalaprop

Decided to reread. I think it‘s the third read. I love this book. Amazed myself when I first read it as I usually avoid thick books with small print. I‘m loving it again. @MrsMalaprop
I‘ve all forgotten about this book on the shelf for years, and somehow decided to pick it up today.
And man, I‘m in candy store 🍭 — How I‘ve missed Perlman‘s writing, and his fine way of using the words!!!
I have finally got my book group book in the mail...I now have just over a week to get through 600 pages. I'm not optimistic but so far the book is pretty good!
It might be Wednesday but I‘m going to do this one anyway because my lovely friend (& new Litten) @Rissreads tagged me.
1. My paternal grandfather who died when I was 2. He was by all accounts a lovely man. Clementine Ford. Rufus Wainwright. Germaine Greer. Tim Winton.
2. Elliot Perlman. A lynchpin for my husband and I. ❤️

Great read. Or I should say listen. It took me about 4 months to finish listening to in my car but it was worth it. I need a breather for at least a week though now. Full of wise insights and curious tales. I‘d definitely give it the thumbs up. Keen to see the mini series now.
But that enigmatic calm that attaches itself to people in the presence of reason - It‘s like the smell of burned toast. You made the toast. You looked forward to it.You even enjoyed making it, but it burned. What were you doing? You open the window, but only the very top layer of the smell goes away. It‘s on the walls. You leave the room, but it‘s on your clothes. You change your clothes, but it‘s in your hair. And in the morning, it‘s still there.
This is after the dedication page in the tagged above book. Seven Types changed my life. I haven‘t revisited it in a long time but a friend of mine did and boy does it dredge up “what could‘ve been” in my mind.
#ozfictiongiveaway @MrsMalaprop a very big congratulations! And. Very big thankyou too. I‘m picking the tagged book because I liked your review....👍🏻❤️🙏🏻. Thankyou

❤️❤️❤️ this 2004 Australian novel. Some of the love is due to it being partly responsible for bringing my husband and I together. We even quoted from it in our wedding speeches 😍.
Must read it again someday, but worry I won‘t love it as hard and that would be devastating 😟.
One of my favourite Aussie authors Elliot Perlman. I was seriously an embarrassing gushing groupie and I didn't even care. I don't want rockstars I want an author who has a way with words ❤️
I picked this up due to the TV series that is currently airing. The book is written in the voices of different characters. The first part completely sucked me in and held me spell bound. The second part switched to the point of view of the disgruntled husband. I had zero fucks to give about this guy. So I took a leaf out of the DNF Queen's guide and bailed! Thanks @shawnmooney !
Elliot Perlman is one of my favourite Australian authors and this novel has been adapted for a six part tv series with one of my favourite Australian actors (Hugo Weaving). I've read many of Perlman's other novels but for some reason this one has sat on my shelf unread for years.

This is a photo of my husband's and my copies of Seven Types on our shelf, alongside a family pic taken some years ago. Those two goofy kids are now teens.
When we met 10 years ago my husband and I discovered a mutual love for this fairly obscure, rich and harrowing Australian novel.
Tomorrow night a mini-series based on the book premieres on ABC TV. We are a little bit excited to see it. 👍😘👏
See I do keep books. I see this is about to start on TV soon. I loved loved loved this book. Can't remember exactly what it was about but do remember how I felt about it. Had to keep it.
These are all #autobuyauthors for me: clockwise from top left, Elliot Perlman, Kate Atkinson, Joan London, Hannah Kent, Tim Winton, Helen Garner, and in the middle, Sarah Waters. Kate Atkinson is a new addition for me. I loved A God In Ruins and am pages away from finishing Life After Life.
I'll be very interested to see everyone else's author auto-buys. #Marchintoreading Day 24
SO excited! Finally received my first monthly instalment of #BookMail from #HeywoodHill. For Christmas, my dad bought me a subscription for #AYearInBooks, where I receive a paperback every month specifically chosen to suit my reading tastes and OHMYGOSH, I just can't wait to crack on with this!!! 😍❤️👏🏻🙌🏼
Loved this book; have read it twice. Yes, it has shortcomings, but the story(ies) continue(s) to stick in my mind.
This is one of my favourite books of all time. It's partly responsible for my husband and I connecting in that we both discovered we'd recently read it and loved it when we met. We still have two copies sitting side by side on our book shelf 10 years later ❤💕. Rich, deep, epic and devastating. Do it!
#Recommendsday! This book solidified my wanting to be a writer. I've never experienced a writer who could make burnt toast part of beautiful expression until I read this guy.
