I went to a chat on the 31st July at my local library about writing crime. It was held in the art gallery upstairs. At the moment they have an exhibition on female convicts. Many bonnets, that are beautifully decorated and feature the names of the women, line the walls. It reminded me of The Handmaid‘s Tale. I met Liane Moriarty‘s sister. She signed all 3 of my books by her. The interviewer promised not to mention her sister but then Nicola did.

Looking back through my library checkout history, I‘ve given this book more #SecondChances than any other. I think it‘s time to call it a bail!

I enjoyed this a lot more than Nicola‘s previous book. I really liked how this book managed to cover aspects from ALL women- those with kids, those without, etc. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and liked the ending. But wow Garrett and Carlene what fuckers. I highly recommend this one!!

Excited for this one

A little long and a little too “catty” at times, but ends up being a fun read with a great message that woman need to support each other, not tear each other down. 🤟🏻🥂

THOSE OTHER WOMEN is out in hardcover!! Nicola Moriarty writes a complex and interesting story about women in the workplace, in the home, and in each other‘s lives. We love a strong female lead and this book is full of them. Check it out in stores now!

Comparable to The Wife Between Us & The Last Mrs. Parrish (both of which I detested), & less so to Girl on the Train. The superficiality & the constant inner dialogue of women questioning themselves is the disappointing focus despite a thriller label. The same timeline repeats thrice to follow 3 women, extra drama thrown in like dollops of sour cream on a baked potato— doesn‘t actually make the meal more substantial, it‘s just a dressing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wish they sold Starburst 5 to a pack because there is no way I can ration them out. Anyone else have this issue with a candy or junk food (I have the same challenge with potato chips)?

While we‘re on the topic of gluttony - I will say that the further I get into this book, the more I want to gobble it whole. It gets better with each page.

Written by Liane Moriarty‘s little sister, so I‘m intrigued. But world‘s TINIEST font in an unbound manuscript. 😩
Have emailed publicist to ask for bound galley or e-galley instead. If she says no, I‘ll have to pass on this one, because the font is so small I‘ll hurt my eyes!

Reading while dining alone is one of the finest pleasures!

So I figured out what the title means — there‘s drama between moms and child-free women in the book. At first I didn‘t know where the story was going with all the lack of empathy and defensive posturing but now I think it might end up as a story of female solidarity. I hope so!

The book is told from the point of view of three women, which I really like.

This novel is set in warm and sunny Australia. I am reading it in chill and dreary New York.

So far, this is better than The Fifth Letter, the author‘s earlier novel.
