“Then you arrive at home again, and you look at your window from the outside. Someone you love is waving at you, and you can't wait to go in. So you do.“

This can teach children to fully embrace the beauty of all of the lives around them. This would be good to have in a classroom where students have a habit of being negative. We can work on bringing positivity!
“Windows“ by Julia Denos is a colorfully illustrated picture book with a beautiful sunset on almost every page. This story shows how each window you can look into holds another unique and beautiful life happening inside. It teaches young children to appreciate their own life as well as the ones happening around them.

When I first read Windows my first thought was how perfect of a story it would be to read to a child before bed! The picture book made me feel safe.
Windows is a lovely children's picture book written by Julia Denos and illustrated by E. B. Goodale. This book is about heading out for a walk right before night time and experiencing all of the life around you. The illustrations in this book are very detailed and full of vibrant colors. Windows is a book that encourages children to find their own stories in the pictures.
I would like to read this to my class because it is a book that the children will be able to relate to. They could experience going on a walk at dusk in their lives with their dog, I know I have. Looking at the images took me back to COVID when I would take my dog for walks when I got home from work.
Windows by Julia Denos is a picture book that was published in 2017. In this charming tribute to fall nights, exploring your neighborhood, and returning home, a child takes his dog for a walk at twilight and captures glimpses of the life around him. Everything in the story is dark beside the windows of people's homes and the sunset sky. This draws the reader's attention in to the theme of the short story.
This book uses its illustrations of figures in windows to show the child glimpses into the worlds of others. The outside world is drawn with dark colors and still lines, but inside the windows is bright, with motion and life. The books illustrations encourages the reader to appreciate life and look into others, both literally and metaphorically.
This is a beautifully illustrated book that describes different ways of how readers view their world and themselves within that world. I would use the composition and creative themes within this book to help students understand and relate to the main message of the book. Readers can reflect on the importance of community, diverse perspectives, being accepting to uniqueness, and value the dynamics within their own families and world experience.
“Windows“ by Julia Denos is a beautifully illustrated picture book that conveys the message of how readers view themselves, the world, and themselves within that world. The composition of this book is stunning as it uses gorgeous almost watercolor-like illustrations, very thin and simple lines that make it look like someone sketched it up in a matter of seconds, and a variety of perspectives that help portray the main message of the story.
Review:
This book has an extraordinary use of color. The artist uses a sense of value to highlight windows during the evening. We get to see a community all doing different things as the day turns to night. It shows different ways of life, and in the end that you always have home to return back to.
Blurb:
This book would be great for k-3rd. It uses value and color well, and students can make inferences.

“fill them up with stories.“
At a first glance, as an adult, this is a super quick read about what a boy walking his dog sees inside neighborhood houses, through the windows. It‘s over in the blink of an eye. However, I could see this being a good bedtime story where the child talks through what they see in each window. It may even be fun to make up stories to go with the people/activities in those windows. #cmlibrary #communityreads
#BiblioMAYnia Day 13: The story has a soothing tone, indicative of an environment that is free from strife, violence, or danger. If the faces from outside the windows are any indication, it also appears to be a multi-racial neighbourhood. The emotion that I felt after I read the book was one of gratitude; that safe places such as these exist, and that there is an expectant face outside one‘s window, welcoming one #home. https://wp.me/pDlzr-kAo
I expected Olive to be more enthusiastic about this book, which is literally about taking your dog for a walk, but I guess there is just no stand-in for the real thing. #dogsoflitsy #kidlit #storytime
Cute story about exploring a city neighborhood and getting a glimpse into the lives of its residents through their windows. I grew up in the city and always walked around my neighborhood (this was back when parents let you walk everywhere by yourself), so I could relate. 🌆

I would love a reading book like this!! #window #springintoreading @vkois88 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
When I work from "home," I typically work at my local library. I love this big picture window that looks into the woods. It's beautiful and peaceful all year long. #supportyourlocallibrary
Some say the eyes are the #windows to the soul. I say books are the windows, but eyes could work, too, I guess. 👀
