Girl Who Lived: A Thrilling Suspense Novel
Girl Who Lived: A Thrilling Suspense Novel | Christopher Greyson
21 posts | 38 read | 30 to read
Ten years ago, four people were brutally murdered. One girl lived. No one believes her story. The police think she's crazy. Her therapist thinks she's suicidal. Everyone else thinks she's a dangerous drunk. They're all right-but did she see the killer? As the anniversary of the murders approaches, Faith Winters is released from the psychiatric hospital and yanked back to the last spot on earth she wants to be-her hometown where the slayings took place. Wracked by the lingering echoes of survivor's guilt, Faith spirals into a black hole of alcoholism and wanton self-destruction. Finding no solace at the bottom of a bottle, Faith decides to track down her sister's killer-and then discovers that she's the one being hunted. How can one woman uncover the truth when everyone's a suspect-including herself? From the mind of Wall Street Journal bestselling author Christopher Greyson comes a story with twists and turns that take the reader to the edge of madness. The Girl Who Lived should come with a warning label: Once you start reading, you won't be able to stop. Not since Girl on the Train and Gone Girl has a psychological thriller kept readers so addicted-and guessing right until the last page.

This was a pretty good thriller. Perfect for bringing in Halloween 🎃 I didn't find the main character likable, but she was human.

If you're looking for an entertaining, easy-read kind of suspense tale, look no further!

📚🍁Happy Reading!🍁📚

A decent thriller, though not the best I‘ve read. It lacked a little bit of character development and the ending twist felt forced. It was shocking but almost too unbelievable. Probably a 6/10 read.

4/5⭐️ liked the pace and twists. I felt the claustrophobia of her mind. The formatting of the book was strange. Spoilers: this was a fun, fast thrilled read until the supernatural stuff at the end. That kind of spoiled the whole thing. Also as the loose ends we‘re being tied, nothing was really explained on why the orchestrator chose the person who did the killing.... everything was fun until the main dots weren‘t connected 🙄

Is the lack of margins visually assaulting to anyone else? Why is any book printed like this? 20 pages in and already annoyed

Kaylamburson Ugh, that's awful. If I could read every book in large print I would. I just love speediny through pages. 4y
Kajohnson @Kaylamburson I guess they wanted to save money? They clearly don‘t understand the experience of reading a well-formatted book is part of enjoying it 4y
Kaylamburson Yeah, that could be part of it. Or they messed up the specs of the files. 4y

🥱 I didn't have it all figured out, the end was a twist, but just not enough. It felt like the story stretched out far too long, and repetitious.

This was pretty good up until the end. I liked the characters, I liked the mental hospital/ AA meeting theme, but the ending was terrible. It was all over the place and I didn't buy it at all. Especially that last little bit, that conclusion killed it for me. I can't say more or I'll give it away.

DGRachel Ugh. It‘s so disappointing when a book can‘t stick the landing. 😭 5y

I really enjoyed this one! A fast paced thriller that kept me guessing until the end. My only complaint is that it could have been a bit longer with a few more details. But overall a great read. Definitely recommend this one!

I really liked this book!! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, wondering who it could be! Everyone a suspect, and right when I thought I nailed it, nope! Huge twist at the end I didn't see coming and I love that about books! Strongly recommend !!

I‘ve found that I really enjoy thrillers as audiobooks, so today‘s #AudibleDailyDeal looks perfect.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Audible thrillers? I‘d definitely like some more!

BlameJennyJane I really enjoy the Detective Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons. They are usually pretty affordable for Audible and Kindle. My little library has just one or two of her books and nothing on digital platforms (like Libby or Hoopla) so they can be tough to find to borrow... but so good. Do not have to be read in sequence. 😊 5y
JaclynW Me too! I will have to get this one. Have you read No Exit by Taylor Adams? I liked books by Gillian Flynn too. I read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch that was crazy. Stephen King... Audible and Goodreads have great lists of recommendations, many are on my list too. 5y
GypsyKat @BlameJennyJane Thanks! I‘ll have to check those out! 😊 5y

GypsyKat @JaclynW Yes! No exit was great on audio! 5y
MaleficentBookDragon You is fantastic. One you listen to Santino, there will be no other Joe for you. That is why I just can't get into the show. 5y
GypsyKat @MaleficentBookDragon Thank you! That‘s been on my TBR forever and I‘ve never seen the show. Great suggestion! 5y

Literal 🤯 Maybe I‘m just a little slow, but I did not see it coming like some other reviewers. Every time I thought I had it figured out, another twist hit me. I actually threw the book when the final plot was revealed. It‘s an amazing read that I couldn‘t put down.

Wow! I‘m the first to post about this book! This was a pick from one of my book clubs.
The good - the twist at the end. I totally didn‘t see that coming.
The bad - another unreliable narrator. I may have read one too many like this, so it‘s getting a bit stale for me.
The meh - In retrospect, the twist was a little forced. In reality the plot would have fallen apart in the 10 years between the murders and the book‘s setting.

4 🌟 out of 5. Faith is the only one to survive, after her father, sister, best friend and mother of her best friend are murdered. She's been in and out of Mental Institutions for 10 years. When she's first out, she sees the killer. No one believes her. The police think she's crazy. Her therapist thinks she's suicidal. Everyone else thinks she's a dangerous drunk. They're all right, of course. But did she see the killer.
