It was a wild, cold, seasonable night of March, with a pale moon, lying on her back as though the wind had tilted her, and a flying wrack of the most diaphanous and lawny texture.

This book is such a great read so far 😀

Any recommendations for classic Horror?

Bookwomble Walpole created Gothic horror in this book, so... For something less obvious, perhaps Conan Doyle's short story collection, "The Captain of the Pole-Star". 2y
GeorgeT Thanks for the suggestion,I've ordered a few books today and will be reading them soon, I think I'll start with Castle of Otranto 😀 2y
LoverOfLearning Love these stories!! I have a leather bound edition from 1989. It's GORGEOUS. Definitely one of my favorite books I own. 😍 2y
GeorgeT @LoverOfLearning I really loved it, that sounds amazing! 2y

I‘ve never read Dr.Jekyll but I imagine from all the movies I‘ve seeing that there must be a #laboratory somewhere in this story.

Well, one more down for my 'Every trick in the book' read-a-thon! That's 4 down and 6 to go! I really didn't like this. I was bored & by the end I was barely paying attention. 🤷🏻
1. Nature of the beast - Animal Farm
3. Bloodbath and Beyond - Dracula
6. Me, myself & Hyde - The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
7. Alice - Go Ask Alice

It has been a while since I read this, so I was due a re-read.

For such a short book, it packs a lot in.
I like how it doesn‘t exactly lay out what deeds Mr Hyde got up to, and that he is an enigma until the end.
For me this is a true classic! (I like the more supernaturally ones for sure)

Jekyll and Hyde was my May #doublespin and finishing it gives me my first #bookspinbingo of the month, too!

It looks like I‘m reading a lot, but it‘s three novellas, three graphic novels (two MG and one early MG), and a short MG novel. I don‘t know what else I‘m doing but I feel like I‘m chasing my tail this month.

TheAromaofBooks Yay bingo!! And some months just feel like tail-chasing months for sure! 3y

I was sure I had read this before but nothing was familiar. The story is quite different from how it is generally depicted in movies, and well worth a read. There are some Gothic influences at work in Stevenson‘s writing, and none of the action is really depicted directly; both of which were surprising. This is more character study than horror story, in my opinion.

#lostbooks The original manuscript for The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is lost and supposedly has some major differences in the storyline.
#OldCoolBooks @Linsy

Linsy That‘s so cool! I think my dream job, if I were a character in a book, would be tracking down lost manuscripts. Of course, I would only do that after running from the CIA because I refused to do something morally objectionable. ... Book me is so cool. 6y

The Strange Case of dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde illustrated by Alejandro Colucci printed by Easton press. Man this leather bound beauty is tantalizing but at 5 monthly payments of $75 dollars it is way out of my reach. I guess I'll just have to oggle it from the interwebs... sigh...

wanderinglynn Beautiful! But the price, 😮! 6y
PSreads73 That is expensive. I have a nice and affordable illustrated edition from Books-A-Million. Where did you see this copy? 3y
Gina @PSreads73 Yes it can be but I scout around for used ones until I find them a reasonable price. I do not remember where I got this one. 3y

3⭐ This book was hard because I knew the basic concept and most of the book is setting up the big reveal. So in the end, only the last chapter was interesting. I'm glad I read it, but it's hard to recommend knowing that nearly everyone knows the premise and this book doesn't offer much outside that.

This is from #MountTBR so there's that!

Daisey I had a hard time with this for the same reason. It just didn‘t work well for me since I already knew what was going on. 7y
MayginReads @Daisey I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I give classic books where I know some of the plot more leeway in terms of liking it, but this was just too much about things that I already knew. 7y
