I love, love, love the part in this book where Ramona declares herself the baddest witch in the world!

#Scarathlon #PhotoChallenge #BOOkLovers

Silverneurotic I recently read this to my 5 year old and I‘m glad it‘s still as fun as it was when I was a kid. 1y

Definitely Ramona! I loved those books and checked them out of the library more times than I can count. A close second is the BFG by Roald Dahl. Whizzpoppers! 😆

#SundayFunday

jewright The Little House and Anne of Green Gables books. 2y
BookmarkTavern The BFG is such a good choice! Thanks for answering! 2y
BarbaraJean @jewright I don‘t remember discovering the Anne books until 5th or 6th grade, but they were definitely favorites once I did! @ozma.of.oz You‘re welcome—thank you for the prompt! I always love thinking back on my childhood favorites. 😊 2y

1. I don‘t think it registered with me that these books were set in #Oregon when I read them as a child…
2. I‘ve only really passed through the state, but the whole coastline looks like a nice place to visit.

#TravelTuesday

megnews I reread a few of the Ramona books in the last couple years and still didn‘t recall they were set in Oregon! They seem like those books that could be set in Anywhere, USA. 3y

#WonderousWednesday

1. The Ramona books! I loved them, and they were still good when I read them as an adult.
2. Cold rainy days when I have an excuse to just stay in and read without guilt, but really I read in all weather.
3. That I got to see the Atlanta Braves win the World Series! They were my daddy‘s team and I grew up watching them with him. He passed away when I was in college, and watching the series brought back good memories.

Eggs Oh #3 bittersweet memory ⚾️ 3y
MallenNC @Eggs Yes! But mostly good memories about a fun thing we shared. 3y

It‘s #DropEverythingAndRead Day! I listened to Ramona the Pest, the second book in Beverly Cleary‘s Ramona series. I laughed out loud! Stockard Channing was the narrator and she was excellent. I loved Miss Binny, too. Her drawl was so endearing and I‘m sure she never forgot Ramona. I have to go up in the attic now to get the rest of the books. Hope you have a great DEAR Day! #100YEARS100BOOKS #BookSpinBingo #9 #BFC21 #SERIES2021 #AwesomeApril

Such a fantastic children‘s story! Ramona was the “baddest witch” before it was cool. I think I related to this so much as a kid because Ramona isn‘t forced to be a “girly girl.” It‘s fine to be that, but I didn‘t feel that way, so I was happy to have a heroine who wasn‘t afraid of worms and mud and shook things up! Go Ramona!

The whole #audiobook series is available on #hoopla 👍🏻

Megabooks #20in4 book 4 @Andrew65 messed up my timer, so adding them together, I‘m about 12 hours in. 4y
britt_brooke I‘ve never read any Romona books, but I‘m going to at some point. I didn‘t become a readers until my 20s, so I missed a lot and have some catching up to do! 4y
Scochrane26 Ramona was & is still a favorite! 4y

Ruthiella I loved this book as a child and still think about the dawnzerly light from time to time. 😀 4y
Butterfinger We are a Beverly Cleary family. Reading Henry and Ribsy right now. 4y
Megabooks @britt_brooke definitely check these out on audio! Stockard Channing does such a wonderful job on narration! They are available through hoopla if your library does that. 4y
Megabooks @Scochrane26 absolutely!! 💜 4y
Megabooks @Ruthiella that was such a funny part of this book!! 😂😂 4y
Megabooks @Butterfinger nice! I need to get to rereading all of her books! 4y
britt_brooke @Megabooks Thanks! I forget about Hoopla, but we do have access. 4y
Cinfhen I reread a few Ramona books last year or maybe it was two years ago, for a pop challenge prompt!! It was so delightful to be reunited with Ramona & her crew♥️♥️I think your boys might enjoy the series @britt_brooke (edited) 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen oooo!! Maybe I‘ll use this for a previous pop challenge prompt in this year‘s! Thanks! And they are such great books. I‘m guessing you read them with your kids?? 4y
Cinfhen Funny, I don‘t think I did... my kids were all about 4y
Cinfhen Ohhh, you can definitely use for past prompt, Meg!! I think it was read a book that reminds you of your childhood 😁 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen oh yeah!! Ramona would definitely be that!! I‘m sure I read the Junie books (I was one of those kids who would check out 20 books at a time), but I don‘t remember them like Ramona. 4y
Cinfhen I think Junie B Jones was a series that started in the 90‘s ~ it was like a modern day Ramona 😁 (edited) 4y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen It would be fun to read it with them! 💚 4y
Cinfhen Let me know @britt_brooke there‘s also a cute movie, I remember seeing with my kids based on the series 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen ah yes, I was a teen then! That‘s probably why I don‘t remember them!! 😃👍🏻 (edited) 4y

We enjoyed this as much as the first and are looking forward to the next couple in the series arriving. Ramona can be rather naughty but is also quite sensitive. Probably not unlike Beatrix.

@JoScho , you were one of the first Littens who taught me what a wonderful place Litsy was! 😊

📖 - “Ramona the Pest” by Beverly Cleary. I used to love these books when I was a kid, and I still remember how kind Ramona‘s teacher was to someone who others had labeled a “problem child”.

🎥 - “A Christmas Story”. I immediately thought of Ralphie‘s oft-tormented teacher! 😂

🎶 - “School‘s Out” by Alice Cooper

1. Hard to choose between Ramona & basically everything by Roald Dahl.
2. Always pie. 🥧 Unless it‘s cheesecake, which is really also pie. Cheesecake pie.
3. I don‘t know if I can count travel as a hobby, since I‘ve done so little in the past few years! Games, I guess—though my husband is much more of a gamer than I am.
4. I‘ve still got that travel afterglow, so I have to go with either the Welsh coast, or Ely (England).
5. 💜📚💜

The_Real_Nani I have tried so hard to get my kids into Ramona!! She was one of my faves. 6y
BarbaraJean @The_Real_Nani Ramona is the best! I found her so relatable when I was a kid. I wonder if the books feel dated now, though? 6y
The_Real_Nani @BarbaraJean That‘s what I was thinking. Today‘s kids are so much more sophisticated. 6y

#AugustGrrrl #Vacation & #ConstantCraving Doing double-duty prompts to catch up from yesterday. My last vacation was to Oregon-mainly the SW Portland area to visit family. Having spent my teens & 20s in Oregon, I have a constant craving for some things I can't get here: Powell's Books of course 📚📚(BTW-Ramona Quimby & her family lived in PDX), coffee from Jim & Patty's (formerly Coffee People), Cafe Yumm bowls & their sauce (I make it at home)...

DebinHawaii Burgerville's seasonal blackberry milkshakes & their Wallawalla onion rings, Mo's clam chowder (from the Oregon coast or the airport!) & Trader Joe's (not exclusive to Oregon of course but plenty stores there!) And family of course!!! 🤣🤣🤣 A little piece of my ❤️always stays there. (edited) 7y
