Harry does a favour for Thomas that has unexpected consequences and outcomes.

Cute puppies, dark curses, black and white vampires (again), and Lt Murphy at a picnic. 😁

🎧 I‘m loving this series. A lot of rereads but finding new things I didn‘t see before.

Harry is hired by Thomas (a sketchy vampire). Harry ends up a suspect in multiple murders. He, Murphy, Thomas, Kincaid & an old teacher from Harry‘s past take on murder in the porn industry 😆

Some nice character development & surprises.

This time, Harry has to protect the actors and production staff at an adult film set from a curse, while getting better acquainted with the White Court and the Raiths. All this while accidentally getting a puppy and learning more about his mother.

Once again I enjoyed Harry's wit and humour. I'm enjoying my journey in The Dresden Files and I particularly enjoyed this book which delves a little into Harry's family and past.

Solid 4 stars.

Another book off my #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I've been meaning to read this series for quite some time. 4y
LazyOwl @TheAromaofBooks I would definitely recommend. They're not too longer and I like to read these in between some of my heavier epic fantasy series. 4y
TheAromaofBooks I absolutely loved his Codex Alera series, although I've been told they're very different in style. 4y

I think this has been the favorite of the series so far. Funny and suspenseful. Plus meeting Murphy‘s family is worth the read.

As my Stormlight Archive re-read is almost finished (I've been doing them as audiobooks) I have decided to carry on with some Dresden for my next listen. 😁

Katerina I love the books. I've heard good things of the audio books too, but am reluctant to try them, because I'm weary of then only hearing James Marster's voice in my head when I read them :P 4y

Dresden's heart of gold is being used and abused once again. Thomas of the White Court has asked him a favour to help out a friend of his who is having trouble with a pesky entropy curse. Harry goes undercover on a porn shot to find the culprit and is once again dragged into the political machinations of a Vampire court. Of course he takes Murph along for the fun. 4/5 Stars. I really love this series.

Excellent story involving supernatural intrigue on the set of an erotic film (so, lots of levity and ridiculousness too)! Resolution is amazing.

I love Harry‘s smart-ass remarks as well as his POV as events unfold. Lots of secrets revealed in this one. I empathized with how these revelations made him feel. The reader is on this journey too and you can‘t help but feel for the poor guy.

What I love about these books is that there is always so much going on. Also Harry is such a wise-cracking smart ass! 😆

SERIOUSLY. Harry is the worst. Why do I keep reading these?! He's been shown time and time again that the women in his life are strong and tough and capable and skilled, and yet, he still feels this patronizing need to "protect" the women who are constantly saving his ass. Continued in the comments because I must finish my rant.

Krisjericho He is judgmental and shows a complete lack of insight into his own character when he finds out that Thomas is exactly what he always said he was, Ebenezer isn't perfect, and his mother was less than a paragon. 6y
Krisjericho But damn if I'm not entertained in my irritation, and I get to listen to James Marsters' fabulous narration, and the books are fun rides with all their many, many problems. Hell's bells and stars and stones - I'll probably read the next one, too. 6y
tournevis *looking at you Jim Butcher...* 6y
AutumnRLS They just keep getting better and better and Harry does grow. I love the character arch. Wish I could read them all again for the first time! 6y

Yet again even when everything seems to be going wrong Harry ends up saving the day. I am really enjoying these characters. I love the addition of Thomas. His story surprised me. I was not expecting that. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough Bob. I can't wait to see where this series is headed next, especially after that mysterious ending.

Here is a fun quiz for all the Dresdenites (Is this what we call ourselves?🤔)

http://epicstream.com/quizzes/Which-Dresden-Files-Character-Are-You/197/fbshare?...

And apparently I am Harry, the man himself! Not sure I have his courage and bravery, but will sure as hell be able to match him in the accidental destruction, mayhem categorie.😂😂😂

Have fun with this!

In some ways, this is one of the best books for me, so far, in the Dresden Files. The story is well-constructed with great twists and the world building is excellent. The portrayal of the women is just so horribly done, and while it once might have been considered a non-issue, it‘s not aging well. Lt. Murphy is a great character who is repeatedly disrespected in the way she‘s portrayed. #HarryDresden #urbanfantasy #DresdenFiles

So Jim Butcher reaches one of his biggest twists in the series. For all the elements to this series that bug the hell out of me, this is an example of what I do enjoy so much about this series. It‘s so well constructed. #HarryDresden #JimButcher #urbanfantasy #audiobook

Karrin Murphy, by far, is my favorite character in the “Dresden Files.” She‘s at her best whenever she‘s busting Harry‘s chops, but a quarter of the way into this book, she gained even more points with me. Quoting lyrics from a George Michael song. That‘s my kind of cop. Can we get a “Murphy Files” series instead? Please? #GeorgeMichael #iwantyoursex #UrbanFantasy #KarrinMurphy

Just started listening to Blood Rites. Been an emotional roller coaster ride for me with this book so far. First, Harry offends me by proclaiming himself a cat person and anti-dog (I'll keep this from my dog Wicket to protect him from the shock). Second, I really love the adorable dog who stows away with Harry. Third, aaaaaaaand we're back to Harry "Misogyny" Dresden. Yes, Harry, you are a neanderthal. (Continued in the comments)

BillBlume So far, the audiobook is everything I love and hate about this series. James Marsters is one badass book reader. Would love to listen to him and LeVar Burton tag team reading a story together. As for the bad: oh Lord, the series really does reduce women to hotties and rescue bait. The entire premise of this book is a curse that‘s targeting women. Only thing missing in this book is a refrigerator. #urbanfantasy #harrydresden #audiobook (edited) 7y

I think Harry Dresden may be my soulmate. Except for that "chivalrous" streak in him; parts of that would get old real quick.
I don't think that says anything particularly good about me...
