This is the second Lippman book I‘ve listened to this year. I really like them as audiobooks, and will be looking for more from my library. Yay for a new to me author that I know “works”.

MYSTERY - THRILLER
Ms. Lippman has written another psychological page turner which is going to be a favorite.
SUNBURN is truly a masterpiece of suspense!! One of her best.

Mystery! Tagged book is one of my favorites (and also one I haven‘t tagged for awhile). #sundayfunday
This was just okay for me. I'm really glad that I got it on Libby and didn't pay for it because I want that impressed. It was a very slow start and the potential was there but I felt like there was just too many moving parts. Not my fave. ⭐⭐✨
I saw this on a list of award-nominated books and looked to see if it was on my Libby app and amazingly it was available to borrow. I have read some mixed reviews but I'm excited to get it started! I have enjoyed this author in the past so we'll see if this one is the same! Will update with review when completed!
1. Dark and gritty story. Flawed and troubled protagonist. Often features the underbelly of society.
2. I‘m not a big fan of noir, but I loved the tagged book.

If I lived near a beach or had any money to go abroad this would have been harder! 😅 I reserve the right to swap swimming pool for beach if any beach-pportunities arise 🙃

1. Tagged book is my favorite by this author.
2. I guess it depends on the book…and the word!

A low pick. The ending was a bit too convenient for my taste.
Sunburn was heading for an easy 4 stars... I was hooked from the start. Intrigue built and built in this domestic noir psychological thriller and for the first two thirds I absolutely devoured it.
Unfortunately, much as I enjoyed the ride, the ending lets it down. Without giving anything away, there are a few holes in the plot and it kind of... fizzles toward the end.
Worth reading if you enjoyed Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.
⭐⭐⭐
Enjoying this modern noir. #Doublespin #Bookspinbingo #SummerReading
“In her black dress, black gloves, and retro heels, she looks like Joan Crawford or Bette Davis. She feels like them too. Tough, yet brittle. That‘s the thing about being really hard. When you do break, you shatter.”
(This is my first time trying to do a book face photo. It‘s not perfect. I used Stay Evil, Dollface lip color by Notoriously Morbid - use code ALLURE15 to save money on your orders 🖤)

I liked this story of Polly, a woman with secrets, and Adam, the investigator hired to track her, but at some point it just lost momentum for me.
Whoa, Laura Lippman you‘re a fiery one!! With wit, smarts, snarks and a really modern twist on the 1920‘s crime genre, Sunburn is a scorcher!!! So many sub stories all tightly plotted. Audio narration was sultry and sexy, perfect for this steamy thriller.

This book is sooooooo good!!! I‘m loving the 1920‘s noir vibe....just hoping this book doesn‘t end like Double Indemnity
My #Scribd hold came in this morning ♥️🎧Really enjoying this summertime noir, especially the setting #Delaware as I‘m familiar with the beaches & quaint towns. #ReadingUSA2020
Hoping to squeeze in a few minutes reading on a work trip. I think this book was from @charl08 from our Litsy meet up swap (there were so many books flying about, it was hard to keep up ). Anyway, it's pretty gripping, hence it had to come with me.
Stories are like dough...Put your hands in your stories, work them, but don't overwork them.
Pride and fear. She can't imagine how rich she'd have to be to afford those two things.
People pay so much for views and then, within a few weeks, don't even notice them.
That's the thing about being really hard. When you do break, you shatter.
Some people are like rabbit holes and you can fall a long, long way down if you go too far.
He turns on the radio and it's that goddamn song that's on the radio all the time this summer, the one about chasing waterfalls. No one chases a waterfall. You go for a swim and the next thing you know, the current catches you and throws you right over.
😂
First line: It's the sunburned shoulders that gt him.
This was hard to rate. The writing and the story was great but the ending fizzled out.
Been craving a salad.
Almost done! I think all the twists & turns have shown themselves but how is it going to end?!
Ahhhh a satisying end (almost) to my day
New word to me.
Finished off this audiobook quickly while I worked on my #bujo some more. This one helped me knock off a few more prompts among my various 2020 challenges.

Enjoyed a wonderful panel on complex, “unlikeable” characters with the talented & funny Laura Lippmann, whip-smartMegan Abott, and friends at Bouchercon yesterday! Good advice on writing who you want to write, likability be damned! #authorheroines #talent #determination #complexfemakecharacters #bouchercon
Very enjoyable! Character driven and suspenseful - highly recommended
I brought books to read while I waited to see Elizabeth Warren, but I forgot my hat. My face is as red as a tomato, and it hurts so much. Totally worth it.
I really enjoyed Sunburn. It had a film noir feel to it; the beautiful, troubled heroine who may or may not have done terrible things, the private eye hired to find her and expose her secrets, the dead end town they both end up in. It wasn‘t overly dramatic, no crazy cliffhangers. A perfect holiday read. Also, the cover. I always fall for a good cover.
