This was super slow and the characters were uncompelling. Despite that I was interested in the dual storylines and the descriptions of Portugal so I kept going. And going. And it was ok. Right up until the end. Jo's choosing to believe an idea which had plenty of evidence against it, and the lack of tying in ANY other of the child abductions that were mentioned, completely annoyed me. 😠
1- Tagged
2- None and I'm not mad about it!
3- I'm not that into ice cream but I'll say strawberry.
4- Zero, sadly.
5- On it!

A few careless minutes, and the boy was gone. #1stsentence
Had to stop at one more beach before the airport! Portugal, you are a stunner! 🇵🇹
🇵🇹
The Algarve is hard place to leave (back to winter in Canada). 🇵🇹
This book was a very enjoyable companion to my trip to the Algarve in Portugal. The book describes the Algarve from a tourist perspective and weaves World War II Lisbon with present day Faro in a tale of corruption, kidnapping and murder. Fun read! 🇵🇹
Last night in Portugal 🇵🇹 Reading with some Vino Verde and a view!
Pretty glorious reading spot 😍🇵🇹📚🏖️
Portugal 😍🇵🇹
Western most tip of Portugal - used to be thought of as "the end of the world" ??
I *love* the idea of nostalgia for the present moment 💓🇵🇹
Can't get enough of Lagos, Portugal! I'm also really enjoying the tagged book!
It's so magical in Lagos, Portugal!
Lagos 😍
I had four credit on Hoopla that I had to use before the end of the month. I chose four books that are in my physical shelf so I can read the book, and listen to the audiobook at the same time. Here‘s what I chose. Book 1/4 ☺️
Have any of you guys read this one? What did you think?
When I first started reading this back in 2016, I gave up after about 100 pages. I'm so happy I gave #300daysofsun a second chance! It has all you could want: mystery, espionage, history and romance. Perfect for those lazy days of summer ahead of us. ☀️😎📚
Weekend TBR: Enjoying being home after a week of traveling. Going to finish this one on the eReader and then decide what will be next. Aloha Friday 🌺🐶
So, I was doing well this year, I wasn't overbuying books. And then August hit, gahhh! I didn't read nearly as much as I bought. 😂#day30 #augustofpages #augustphotochallenge #augustbookhaul

Hated almost every minute. The end was the most ridiculously stupid thing I've ever read. The characters were flat, the ending was abrupt and the book within a book was even more poorly written. There was no sense of the setting which was the reason I bought it in the first place.
I think I've learned my lesson. When a book is compared to 2 of my all time favorites, it will be nothing like either of them. This one is supposed to combine the setting of Beautiful Ruins with the history of Orphan Train. It really, really does not. It is so slow and drawn out. I don't care about the characters or what happens. I should bail, but I'm almost done.
Like a trip to Portugal w/ the vivid descriptions. Set in present & past w/ a mystery & a story-within-a-story. I like WWII fiction that gives perspective of people in different countries-citizens/expats & author does it well. Paired w/ Fried Tuna w/ Tomatoes/Onions & Rosemary Salt Potatoes on blog.
This may turn into a perfect summer book for me- an international setting, bright sun and heat as a back drop, current timeframe and light writing but not exactly fluff. This is set in Portugal and the narrator had a nice accent. I'm hopeful!
Audio. I was all for the 'yes, read this book as it is wonderful'. Maybe it is the full moon Monday that kind of sucked but if this had been a physical book, it would have gone flying at the end. Fun story but the ending just added poop sprinkles to what had been up to the end something nice.
Alternating time periods, a current mystery with ties to war time Portugal. The two story lines are equally captivating and both bring the location to life. Interesting to read about the war from Portugal's pov, not many books cover that angle.
A wonderful historical/mystery/romance read that alternated seamlessly between present day and WWII. The beautiful setting was so vividly described that I could imagine myself being in Portugal, and I loved the hint of Gothic strewn throughout the book.
Just starting this one. Rain and cloud here, hopefully this book will transport me somewhere warm and sunny.
Now with 50% more sun.... What are you reading this weekend?
"With its lush settings, high-stakes suspense, and novel-within-a-novel, 300 DAYS OF SUN is a feast for fiction lovers. Lawrenson delivers a labyrinth of complex relationships the reader is both breathless to solve and eager to return to upon completion." —Erika Robuck, author of HEMINGWAY'S GIRL
