Touch is the electrifying new thriller from the author of The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August. He tried to take my life. Instead, I took his. It was a long time ago. I remember it was dark, and I didn't see my killer until it was too late. As I died, my hand touched his. That's when the first switch took place. Suddenly, I was looking through the eyes of my killer, and I was watching myself die. Now switching is easy. I can jump from body to body, have any life, be anyone. Some people touch lives. Others take them. I do both.

Ooh, this book is so good and so original. I can see why it made the best-of lists in 2015. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Great idea, badly executed. Gave it 100 pages but I‘m really not enjoying it. DNF.

Her descriptions are so vivid and the premise of this book: being able to switch into someone‘s body by touching them is so clever.

Zelma That sounds really good! 6y

My next read. A break from all the traditional fantasy. What if you could transfer into someone else‘s body by touching them?

Claire North does it again! She blew my mind with this book. She has a unique ability to ignite my imagination and leave me daydreaming about her stories long after I have finished. Ever wondered what you would do if you could inhabit other bodies? Pick this up and start daydreaming too!

gradcat Shall I pick up the glass of red as well? 🍷😁❤️ 6y
Copwithabook @gradcat ☺️ the red paired nicely. Lol it was a gift from the cruise line because I helped them make an arrest on the boat. It‘s a really interesting story that I promise has been repeated many times around my department since I got home 6y
gradcat Whaattt? What do you do, or was it just accidental? I mean, are you a police person? Sorry for being so nosy, but this sounds very interesting 🤔 6y
See All 6 Comments
Copwithabook @gradcat it actually is an interesting story. The guy on the balcony next to mine was smoking marijuana and turns out he was dealing on the boat. He tried tossing something overboard while we were in port. So they tried to arrest him. I jumped in to help bc they were getting there asses kicked. 6y
gradcat @Copwithabook Uh, I feel kind of stupid...there it is right in your handle! But I love that story because of the mighty “girl power” you used to help the ones getting their asses kicked! 😂👮🏻‍♀️🦵🏼 6y
Copwithabook @gradcat thanks girl! I‘ve been doing this for seven years now. 6y

I should know never to read a Claire North book and another book simultaneously. I‘m tempted to make a flow chart with this one, to keep track of all lives. I LOVE her writing!!! Love the road tripping through Eastern Europe!

The story has improved from the beginning. I am enjoying the murder mystery. Also, interesting comments on gender.

All the switching around in bodies and times is hard to follow, although the audio version helps with different voices. Mostly, though, it seems like a second-rate knock-off of David Mitchell's the Bone Clocks I read last year. I hope it improves.

So, this is my autumn list for #tbrbingo - I am starting my training contract to become a solicitor in a few weeks and I am anticipating being very busy (hence why I didn't want to be too ambitious! Haha). Some good ones on there and I am looking forward to them! Any recommendations for winter reads?...still after a good book haul 😂🤷🏻‍♀️. Oh and HAPPY TUESDAY ✌🏼☕️📚. #tbr

Bambolina_81 Good luck with your training contract! I hope all goes well and you get to chill in the evenings with these books 😊 7y
ChloeTallis Thanks @Bambolina_81 ! It's been a long time coming, so I'm ready to get stuck in 👌🏼. Will definitely need that chill at the end of a day, problem is I will probably fall asleep with my book on my face 😂 xx 7y
Bambolina_81 @ChloeTallis My husband waited for years before he got a training contract so I can imagine the wait you've had! Every night ends with my book stuck to my face 😂 I only wake up when I get struck by the Kindle in my eye! 7y

Smangela I just started using fennel essential oil and was surprised by what it smelled like! I'll have to try out fennel tea! 7y
ChloeTallis Oh that's cool - I am just about to get an aromatherapy set so I will give that a try! Fennel tea is lovely - surprisingly sweet! 😁 @Smangela 7y
Smangela I'm so obsessed with essential oils 😍🙈 I also use a reference book from Life Science Publishing to get more details called the 7y
ChloeTallis Oh I will have a look! So you are probably the right person to talk to (I drive my boyfriend insane with this haha) - I am getting a sunlight lamp to wake up/fall asleep to and there are sections to insert essential oils to wake you up/help you sleep! The obvious is lavender for bedtime but wasn't sure what essential oil would be good for the morning? Something energising and happy?! Any suggestions welcome ☺️ @Smangela 7y
Smangela Oh yes! (That clock sounds amazing sooo I'm gonna have to look into that myself!) I like citrus blends like Young Living has one called Citrus Fresh, or Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit any of those. Young Living also has a blend called En-R-Gee; I can really only speak to Young Living brand because that's all I use but if you ever want any of those get in touch with me angelamarieblackburn@gmail.com I can help you get started out with them :) 7y
Smangela Also, fun fact Grapefruit helps with feelings of satisfaction and happiness; seems like a good feeling to wake up with haha 7y
ChloeTallis Lamp is a little pricey - but will be so worth it - don't know about you, but I live in the U.K. and I need it to get through these long and dark winters! Oh that's amazing - I was thinking oranges! Like waking up in Seville (haha ever the romantic...). That's great thanks - getting the lamp in next few weeks so shall then look into the oils! Thanks ☺️ 💕 @Smangela 7y
ChloeTallis I never thought of grapefruit! Sounds 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 @Smangela 7y
JillR Hope you're ok @chloetallis - you're missing us maybe? Missed you today all on my own 😏. You need to get some This Works Deep Sleep spray - it's not cheap but I adore it and would wear it as perfume if I could! X 7y
ChloeTallis Thanks @JillR just mental dealing with such a massive change - but feel fine now, just a wobble ☺️. Oh I have seen that! I might invest 💰 hehe. (Of course I miss youuuuu! Hope it's going ok) xx 7y

I really enjoyed this. Not my normal type of read but it gripped me from the start and I liked the writing style. I think it's one to be read quickly, in big chunks. My reading was a bit stop-start at times and I lost track of the momentum of the story. It's fast paced, but somewhat exhausting (in a page turner way)!

Ms_T Glad you gave it a pick. I agree, it is fast paced and benefits from being read in big chunks 😃 8y
JillR @ms_t I'm going to check out some of the author's other books, have you read any? 8y
Ms_T @JillR I haven't but after reading Touch several Littens recommended this one so it's on my TBR list 😃 8y

I think I'm becoming a bit of a Claire North fan. This was a very good read - the main character is an entity that can hop from person to person merely by touching them. All good fun for the main character, until they come under the scrutiny of an organisation that wants to put a stop to it. Loved it!! She has another book coming out soon that sounds very intriguing, and it's going on my to read list already!

If you are unfamiliar with her, Claire North is a breath of fresh air in publishing. She actually produces original & unique books, including this, her 2nd, one. Some on the brink of violent death gain the ability to jump into bodies via touch and essentially never die; and then there's those who are trying to kill Kepler and his/her kind. Intense, complex, philosophical, smart, & fun! Pair with: Asbach Brandy, aged 3 years, warmed, in snifter.

QuoteQueen You had me at philosophical 😊 8y

Dragon I've been thinking about your review and will definitely have to read this book. It reminds me of an unsettling movie called Devil in a Blue Dress where a demon transfers bodies by touch. 8y

MrBook @TheLondonBookworm ???! @MysteryAuthor I think you'll enjoy this one quite a bit ?. @Dragon Yes, and the movie "Fallen" with Denzel Washington; but that's tiny sliver is where they part with "Touch"; it's truly refreshing. 8y
Laalaleighh She's one of my faves! The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August was so good I barely breathed while I read it. The description of this one remind me a bit of Ghostwritten by David Mitchell, which I also really enjoyed. 8y
