Enjoying nature with my book! ❤️📚
I have a very long list, but I say my go-to authors are Anne Bishop, Kelly Armstrong, Ilona Andrew, Nora Roberts, James Patterson and John Connelly
I have favorite series, lol, Black Jewels by Anne Bishop, and Charlie Parker by John Connelly
All of the above. @Eggs Thanks for the tag
March 20 #MarchMagic Favorite Male Author This is my favorite male author. After you read one of his books, you'll be so impressed with the vocabulary that all other authors feel like they are writing at grade 10 level. This is my favorite series from this author. It's dark mystery thriller with great characters. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Is there anything more annoying than downloading an audiobook and realizing it‘s the abridged version?! I have the ebook but the file type must be weird because it will only open on my iPad kindle app and not my paperwhite… I was excited to be able to listen to it instead! My mom has been bugging me to read this series for years, but she‘s just going to have to wait a little longer…
Really not my thing but I persevered until the end. The story was quite good in parts but it just didn‘t grab me. When the murderer was finally revealed I couldn‘t even remember who it was.
#OppositeDay Day 10 @AlwaysBeenaLoverofBooks @TheKidUpstairs
I'm slowly making my way through this amazing series, and Charlie Parker is definitely not #Soft.
This book was so brutal so I'd recommend to mature readers only because it contains a lot of torture, killing and worse. 🔪
If you're into psychological crime thrillers that are full of suspense, gore and keep you guessing what's going to happen next and Whodunnit...then this is for you!
I'll definitely be reading book two of this series! ✅
A dark and mysterious five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kindle offer today. Series friends if you haven‘t read this one you should!
It has the detective element, fantastic characters and brilliant plot lines but also supernatural, other world stuff going on.
I‘m on number 15 and it‘s still a brilliant series, I don‘t want to catch up because I don‘t want to think there are no more!
Wow, the murders in this book were vivid and brutal. Connolly writes well , Charlie Parker & the characters are interesting, locations are described in detail.Very dark, gritty , a great start to a series I plan to continue. My problem? I‘m reading several series with 20 + books in them, only on single digits on most of them.🤦♀️I will look on the bright side & say I will always have plenty to read!
Between lots of extra crap to do and the fact I‘m at a bad mental place about the pandemic & election, having trouble with focus on reading. That said, settled enough to get some in , I‘m only on page 135 , this one is something !
“it is cold in the car, cold as a grave.”
#firstlinefridays @ShyBookOwl
#bloodyscotland one more to go but this was Mark Billingham and John Connolly, could have listened to them all evening.
Day 5 #7days7books of books that changed my life.
Tagging @DeborahSmall & @ScorpioBookDreams if you want to do it.
I'm rereading this one so I can finally finish up this series. Charlie Parker is one of my favorite characters and this dark, twisty, gruesome book is an excellent start to the series.
Yes, this book is vivid and violent, but it is so well written and you'll find yourself attached to the characters as you read.
Parker is searching for his wife and daughter's murderer and he will stop at nothing to get justice.

#WondrousWednesday @Eggs
1. Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis
2. Taurus
3. John Connolly, as he told me that I like psychological thrillers, although I should have realised this when I discovered Harry Bingham!
4. Tagging @DeborahSmall as she introduced me to John's work! 😊
1. I don't daydream much. These days my daydreams usually involve me, a secluded outdoor spot, warm weather, a book, and no one around for miles. 💚
2. Child care 👶
3. I haven't bailed on a book in years. One Hundred Years of Solitude was the last one.
4. The Charlie Parker series by John Connolly. They are dark and twisty and some of my favorites.
5. Consider yourself tagged if you haven't played yet. 💜

First one in the Charlie Parker series and there is a lot happening in the bayou.
This song has brought so many memories back! Played a lot at home, my elder brother loved Linda Ronstadt.
All the Stars. Unreal. And the ending.... well that was so clever & I‘ll be thinking about this for some time. What a brilliant book 👍🏻❤️🖤
This is so much more than a thriller/ detective book. Great wisdom & writing from John Connelly. I often wonder how this Charlie Parker character is making his way relatively sanely ( so far ) through this book. The big fear at such loss would be a #MrAsylum situation ( no spoilers .all happens very early ) #OctoberXFiles
#OctoberXFiles #OneWayOrAnother I just know Charlie Parker is gonna get this sadistic killer. I can‘t tell you how much I‘m loving this book ... I‘m hooked 👍🏻
Next up for me ... very highly recommended by one of our Bookclub ladies, who‘s a serious fan of this series 👍🏻🧡nice Halloween cover here too 🎃🌕🌕 #OctoberXFiles and I think this cover has a #Boogieman look about it 😱
Book: Every Dead Thing by John Connelly

Admittedly I haven't travelled very far (only to the Republic of Ireland) but this is a #blameitonlitsy author courtesy of @DeborahSmall , @ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress #agameoffavorites. My favourite so far is tagged, and John has been so kind as to respond to my tweet asking about favourites! 😻😻😻
Connelly is officially one of my favorite authors! I can‘t believe I‘ve lived 33 years and am just now reading his books. This is the start of his Charlie Harper series & it‘s excellent!
Day 6 #SuspensefulSunday Love John Connolly's Charlie Parker series. Parker is deeply wounded and cursed, yet blessed; his frequent helpers Angel and Louis are unique yet fully believable. Highly recommended (& if you're new to the series, read in order, starting with Every Dead Thing). #ReadingResolutions @Jess7 #JohnConnolly #CharlieParker

I've wanted to rd Connolly for ages so this challenge was a perfect excuse and certainly the 1st in the Charlie parker series has me hooked and looking forward to rdng on. It felt v like a J L Burke novel & the author acknowledged his influence in the preface with a gr8 sense of place and i loved the 2 pt thread. It is however v graphically violent and at parts i worried about the brutality + why i was njyng it- not a cosy rd
This book came highly recommended by several reader friends. I‘ve read oodles of crime thrillers over the years so figured all would be well. But ... I guess I‘ve hit a point in my life as a reader that heinous and/or torturous murder scenes, especially those involving children, is too dark for me. It‘s meant to be unsettling, of course, but I just couldn‘t continue investing myself into the story. It‘s well written but the story is not for me.
I decided to do a crime theme on #LitsyAtoZ with a view to trying new writers and also some old friends and it allowed me trawl the various crime writing prize and blog sites to find authors. My C book is new to me but well loved on Litsy so an easy pick and a 100 pages in i suspect i will become addicted to Charlie Parker, really enjoying the read.
@jhod I got my #Whodunnituk package, thank you! 😁 I've even managed to not gobble up the chocolate yet 😂
Late train to Newcastle for work. Wine and my #whodunituk book. Not so bad! Will it mean nightmares in my hotel room tonight though?!
Anyone know what B&E is?
Stuck at home on a cold, rainy day, so I decided to revisit one of my favorite literary detectives, Charlie Parker.
Oops!
I forgot to post the “before” photo for my #whodunituk parcel from @ScorpioBookDreams .
The gift was so beautifully wrapped I was sad to open it (I did!).
Thanks for selecting this book, @DeborahSmall .
Loved this month‘s #whodunituk but it was very gruesome! Posting your way tomorrow @Libby1
Thank you @Caroline2 for my next #whodunituk. Really looking forward to this one!
Oh the next #whodunituk read just turned up! 👏🏻 sounds really good and I can't wait to get started (once I've finished the current 3 books I'm trying to speed read! 😬) thanks @TrishB for the yummy treats too! My boys have already polished off the choc buttons! 🍫😳😆
Next #whodunnituk arrived.
Thanks for the goodies @thegirlwiththebookishcandle 😀😀 the chocolate has been stolen already! I buy this chocolate online for special occasions!
@ScorpioBookDreams
JC was also kind enough to sign my first edition hardback of his very first Charlie Parker novel, my favourite ❤️#noalibis
Have written in the notebook! I'm keeping a record of my opinion in my book journal too, so that I don't forget!
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much, @DeborahSmall, for choosing this book for #whodunituk! This quote is quite near the beginning, so no spoilers from me, but it is one of my favourites from the book. I'll definitely be reading more from this series soon. Will write in the notebook tomorrow and send it later on in the month to continue its progress!

@DeborahSmall Your #whodunituk arrived safely today! I love the bag and postcards ! I haven't visited Belfast but I have been to Dublin (my Dad lived in the Republic of Ireland when he was younger!) Thanks for your message on one of them, and don't worry about trying to find diabetic chocolate, just ordinary plain/dark chocolate is fine for me! ☺️ @ScorpioBookDreams
I flat-out hated this book. In retrospect, it was never for me, rife with child torture killings, humans flayed alive, and other ultraviolence. But also, the plot elements felt EXTREMELY tired, and I guessed the identity of the killer in the first quarter of the book. The protagonist had to be a prize idiot not to know who it was until the last 17 pages. I've read other Connolly stuff and liked it, but this was just bad. 🤢
#JuneBookBugs there's a lot of #death in John Connolly's Charlie Parker's series. It's one of my favourite series but can be dark in places. He's a wonderful writer ❤️️📚
