2nd Chance
2nd Chance | James Patterson
A brutal madman sprays bullets into a crowd of children leaving a San Francisco church. Miraculously-or was it intentionally?-only one person dies. Then an elderly black woman is hung. Police homicide inspector Lindsay Boxer senses a connection and together with medical examiner Claire, assistant D. A. Jill, and Chronicle reporter Cindy, finds a link that sends a chill through the entire nation. This killer's motives are unspeakable. Book 2 of the Women‘s Murder Club! It has some twists and turns, with some ex-cop villains, one of which is Lindsey‘s father. She was told he died a long time ago, and of course, though he claims to love her, he can be a real piece of work. Plot keeps you guessing.

Putting up fall decorations even though it‘s 80+ and we‘re in a heatwave here in SoCal. I am obsessed with this series, bought the first book on a whim at the airport and couldn‘t put it down! Checked my library and the waits were too long so I went out and got 2 & 3 in the series!

TrishB It‘s great for quite a while! 4y
TEArificbooks I am giggling at your statement about the temp being a heat wave. We are still triple digits here. Don‘t you miss it? Lol 4y
TheBookStacker @mdm139 we don‘t have ac so basically anything over 80 is miserable in my house now! 4y
TEArificbooks @TheBookStacker that sucks. I heard it was common to have no ac in Alaska but not in SoCal so I didn‘t think about that. Although it makes sense not to have it there either. Plus you have humidity from the ocean so that would be miserable. 4y
TheBookStacker @mdm139 we looked at like 10 different condos and apartments and none of them had ac all the agents said “oh we don‘t really need it” which is a lie now lol 🥵 4y

This book excellently picks up from where the 1st one ends, again the main plot of the book is great. I enjoy how it follows each of the women and gives you a real insight into their lives.

I didn't mind this second book of the series, hoping it stays strong as I read through them

I really enjoyed this fast paced read. I forgot to take a pic of the book before I returned it to the library though, so I thought I‘d post a pic of kitty. #catsoflitsy

Starting this one today. #2 in the #series. It has been awhile since I read the first. I think I remember enough though. My library only had the large print available without having it sent from another branch. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2nd in this series, which is the only James Patterson I‘ve stuck with. It‘s up to 17 now but the last two have been a bit iffy!

Andrew65 Would agree, and seems to have gone away a bit from the Murder club concept. 6y
TrishB @andrew65 exactly! It was the character interaction that made the series. 6y
Andrew65 @TrishB And that is exactly what they have lost as in the main they have focused on two characters independently. 6y

Mehso-so

I enjoyed this, and I like the Women‘s Murder Club series so far. I gave it a so-so, just because I didn‘t feel like there were any hugely shocking revelations in it, but I like the characters and liked the story, and I‘ll continue to read the series :) first book of 2018 finished!

Happy New Year Littens! A perfect start to my New Year‘s Day morning. Home made bread toasted with great strawberry jam and a perfectly picked birthday present in the form of a Sherlock Holmes cup :) I‘m loving this book! It‘s been a while since I read the first, and I totally didn‘t realise it was 15 years old!

I read this series until book 7 or 8, then I just stopped.

#Novemberbythenumbers @JoeStalksBeck @Tiffy_Reads

Maike Could they be read as standalones? For some weird reason I own book 15 but have read none of the others 😂 7y
DebbieGrillo @Maike They could be. Each murder mystery is different, like an episode of criminal minds. If you read from the beginning you understand the character development of the detectives a whole lot better. 7y

Yay! Saturday book delivery 😁 I'm currently reading The Humans so will carry on with the Women's Murder Club after that. I'm a bit nervous about reading When Breath Becomes Air, as I know it'll be very emotional, but it's a must read!
