Not a bad coming-of-age story. A fun, simple YA read that‘s great for the beach or cabin. Has a lot of good points for book club discussions, and the easy text and light plot make it a good read for a variety of ages and reading levels.
3.5 stars
Nothing really amazing here, but a really sweet book about 2 sisters on the cusps of their lives. It‘s a great summer read - it‘s a seamless read - and it‘s quick. A great book to have around when you want something light & sweet.
Giving this on a 3.5 out of 5 ⭐️‘s. I thought the book was sweet and just what I needed at the time. The book wasn‘t a homer in for me but I enjoyed the sister relationship between Luna and Phoebe.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day! Want to finish this one today. 🤓
Slowly making progress on my ever-growing #TBR pile. #currentread
It‘s opening day for #SecretSantaGoesPostal! @swishandflick did a phenomenal job in selecting books and bookish gifts for me! Thank you!! My first enamel mug, totally looking forward to that hot chocolate and truffles, book socks that I don‘t already own, and more!! All great books too! Ashley, thank you! 💙
Thank you also to @Avanders @MrBook @BookBabe for organizing #wintersolsticebookexchange ! 📚
This was a wonderful read. I loved how the point of view changed from present to past, daughter to mother. It gave a different story while answers questions from the first story. I started reading it and was hooked. I felt like I couldn't put it down because I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book!
Phoebe‘s mom evades questions about her past, her sister creates her own truth, and she hasn‘t spoken to her father for three years. On a trip to New York to visit her sister, Phoebe is determined to find out the truth about her parents rock star past and in the process finds her own voice. #AwakeMySoul #TuneIntoNovember

I survived work!! You ever feel like you need a 🏅or🏆 for that?
Finished this sweet book on the way home yesterday. It's a cute story about two sisters, a mother, and some rock and roll. It was definitely more adult than the usual YA since some of the chapters were narrated by the mother about the end of her marriage. Solid narration. Overall, recommend! #botm #botmchallenge 29/35
So 10 hour drive today then 😴😴 at parents' house where I sleep🚶🏻♀️. Seriously, it was hilarious. Burst in on my mother in the bathroom!
Anyway, I got halfway through The Lowells, but the big news is I'm actually enjoying Girls in the Moon with my second try! You're right @Reviewsbylola and @emilyhaldi it is a fun book. I'm going to try to finish both this vacation.
What a lovely book. Beautifully written. A story about family, self, and music. I loved the symmetry with Catcher in the Rye! #LitsyPartyOfOne
I love this geometry reference! 180°
Also, poorly drawn triangles.

I don't really have any books with #musicaltitles but this books title comes from a lyric in a fictional song. #maybookflowers
A YA book about two sisters whose divorced parents are former rock stars. They have an estranged relationship with their father who is still in the music business and the older sister seems to be following in her parents footsteps. It isn't an overly exciting book - not a lot happens. But, as someone who is obsessed with music, it was nice to see something different and I loved the old musician references. It was cute.
Never would have discovered this book without Litsy and that would have been a shame. I picked up when I made my lunch and somehow it is getting dark. This is a great YA about a girl visiting her older sister in NYC for a few days and trying to navigate her way through all of gaps in what she knows about her family.
I'm on my way to the airport in an hour and my carry on is stuffed full, so I had to hurry up and finish my book! This is one of those #botm books that I was completely uninterested in and now I am annoyed that I didn't add it to one of my boxes. It is the perfect example of YA done right. I loved following Phoebe, Luna, and Meg as they examined and reflected about their familial relationships and lives. #botmchallenge
I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I normally avoid YA, and wouldn't have chosen to read this if not for the #BOTM challenge (reading all 2017 picks!). The writing was understated and poetic and the story & characters were enjoyable. I read this in one day, finishing with a glass of wine while my husband cooks dinner 👍🏻
Laying in bed at 6am hoping to not have to go to the ER with bad side and back pain before my dr appt on Tuesday reading. I just got Fever Dream too which I really want to read also but not in this condition. Also, this could be gas too. Very embarrassing to go to the ER for 🤣I crack myself up!! If I didn't I wouldn't be alive right now. Love Yas and Good Morning Littens!!! ❤❤❤❤😻😻😻📚📚📚🏙🏙
Muscle relaxers and some sparkly YA are a good cure for back spasms. And a sleepy puppy. ✨🦄
I adored this book. It's a beautifully written coming of age story. McNally's background in poetry comes through in the writing. I found Phoebe a relatable and likable character and also enjoyed the chapters from the perspective of her mother at a younger age, which gave the story some much needed background and pulled it together. Some connections weren't made that I wish were... but for a debut novel, this was lovely.
#CurrentlyReading I'm really loving this book so far!
Everyone in Phoebe Ferris's life tells a different version of the truth. Her mother shares only the end of the story. Her sister preaches a stormy truth of her own making. And her father hasn't said anything at all since he stopped calling three years ago.
I've been buying a lot of the books that I was hoarding from the library by renewing them over and over so I am taking back about 10 more books today. I am picking up the book I cited. I really do want to read it!! Have a great day Littens!!! 😻😻❤❤😎😎😎📚📚📚
Solid YA novel. 👌🏻 I really loved the story going back and forth from Phoebe's current day perspective to her mom's experience in the band in the 90s, which in turn was running parallel with Phoebe's sister's life in the present. It sounds complex, but it was honestly a sweet, quick, and interesting read and I'm glad this was my #BOTM pick for January.
Had TWO PAGES left in this book when I got to my stop. I've never mastered walking and reading, so this is me... reading in line at Chipotle. (also, to avoid looking like a weirdo, I took this super fast and it focused on this guy's pink bag and not my book. boooo.) #booknerdproblems
This is going to be a nice, comfortable YA read and honestly, that's all I really need sometimes. 👍🏻 #BOTM
This is between a pick and a so-so. It was good, but not great. I can't put my finger on what was missing.
#funfridayphoto the book closest to me, seems appropriate for a trip to space!👽
Listening to this #botm book via Overdrive. It's good, but I'm not completely engaged yet.
It's never an easy feat to pick a favorite book, even for a short month... but I really loved this first read of February. #feistyfeb
(I also had a pretty great #bookhaul this month... like my #TBR needs to be any longer... 🙄)
This book was not an exciting page turner type of book. However, the gorgeous language and deep character development kept me reading and wishing for more. I love "I'm with the band" stories and the overall feeling of this story felt nostalgic of 90s bands. Sweet story of the choices we make based on what we consider as vital to our individual expression of our complex lives.
I'm working on getting better on this review part. The main character, Phoebe, feels so real I could slip into her. The relationships with her family and friends are well done, and kept the story going. Enjoyable easy read, loved the setting and the writing, very descriptive. I finished while Navi was doing a little bird watching.
