This is the book I needed when I first started to lose weight. I‘ve burned hard boiled eggs before. This author, a chef, taught 9 intimidated women to use a knife, break down a chicken, and do the basic things in a kitchen that sometimes keep us from eating real food. Amazing story and incredibly needed advice. Off to buy my daughters each a copy to make up for my lack of maternal cooking advice.
A chef takes 9 women, afraid of cooking, under her wing. She teaches them everything from knife skills to using soups to clean out your fridge. I learned so much from her accessible style & professional tips. I'd like to try a few cooking styles, like braising, that have intimidated me. She puts a huge emphasis on staying away from packaged foods and learning where your meat comes from. Wonderful advice for any aspiring cook!
Loved this! I could really relate to the other home cooks she talked to and taught. Definitely feel this was both a comforting and inspiring read. Thanks to @EvieBee for posting about it since that‘s why I read it!
This woman eats a pretty extreme diet of all processed food, but still - a cup and a half of sugar! Yikes. And also this picture isn‘t exactly pretty but I can‘t seem to get anything nicer together on here when I‘m reading an ebook 😕
My first roast chicken! And because of this book, it came out perfect. So easy! You don‘t even need a roasting pan. I know I‘ve said it a few times already but this book is essential.

This is the book that keeps on giving. Making my first vegetable broth from leftover scraps and veggies from the fridge that were on their way out. Flint described how broths, stocks and soups help clean out your fridge so you don‘t waste food. You should give it a try. Super easy! Also...can‘t recommend this book enough!
This book is amazing, as in life changing! I challenged myself to make a Thai inspired salmon dish tonight because of her quick aromatic and flavor cheat sheet. Cooking should be a joy! And now I feel more aware of how I should shop and waste less. Highly recommend! I went back and bought the Kindle book, too for easier reference. 👩🏽🍳👩🏽🍳👩🏽🍳👩🏽🍳👩🏽🍳

Here‘s the first recipe I‘ve made from this book, and it was delicious. We had yesterday‘s leftovers for lunch today. I present: Rustic Italian Farmhouse Zucchini “Sauce” with Penne. So simple, as the sauce is simply the cooked down juices from the zucchini thickened with some pasta water.

I‘ve been wanting to read this book for awhile! Can‘t think why I never checked #audible for the #audiobook but here it is! Enjoying it so much so far while cleaning house. I have been extremely flighty with audio lately. But this has held my attention.

I love memoirs, especially food/kitchen/cooking memoirs. I have whole shelves devoted to them!🥞🥓🍕🌮🥐🍍🍽 #17booklove #memoirlove
Library book sale for the win! I've enjoyed every moment here on Cape Cod, but stumbling upon this sign in Hyannis was the icing. Only three books purchased 📚... such restraint!
This book is one of the #booksthatmakemehungry but it's also one that made me want to be creative in the kitchen, to use what I already have, and to go back to homemade. #somethingforseptember #septphotochallenge #septemberphotochallenge
I enjoyed this book! I believe she and her friends really did help out the people in this kitchen counter cooking school. I listened to this as an audio book, and although the narrator did a great job, I would recommend this as a book you would want to buy or check out rather than listen to, as there are quite a few recipes that are read. "Burnt Toast Makes You Sing Good " is still my favorite of hers as I loved that one, but this is also good.
I think I will have to buy a copy of this and transfer all my sticky notes before I return this to the library... Lots of tips and reminders... I have gotten so lazy in the kitchen
