This book is so many things that I do not usually read. A corporate memoir is not usually my style. But a friend recommended it, gave it a shot as a Pixar fan, and I enjoyed it quite a bit and found a lot to chew on.

#AudibleSale ... ok ... I can handle more sales like this!! Five days, $5 books, completely different books daily, five books were purchased and I had a $5 coupon! YESSSS! I feel like I achieved something of monumental proportions here LOL Five books, $20. I can justify that 🤪 Have you bought any good books lately? I got a B&N 20% off coupon in my e-mail at 7AM .... I‘d like to spend it ... today ... 😈
Overcoming the unseen forces that stand in the way of true inspiration. #edcatmull
There was some good stuff in here but the book droned on forever about the history of Pixar. It was weak on the subtitle topic of overcoming forces that stand in the way of inspiration too. I skimmed the last 40% of the book.
I know a lot more about Pixar now than is probably necessary! The management advice and stuff was interesting, though I can't really apply any of it. And it makes me wish I worked with a company with a culture more similar to this. (Instead of the old "do more with less AKA do the job of 3 people" gross mentality.) Anyways, interesting but long. I had to listen at 1.5 eventually, and I usually stick to 1.2 or so.

Creativity involves missteps and imperfections.
Great Book and full of wisdom. A book that you can come back to many times and still suprises you.
Halfway through this book and I am thoroughly enjoying this mix of management-advice, pep talk, and behind the scenes look at Pixar. #audiobook
“Trust doesn‘t mean that you trust that someone won‘t screw up. It means you trust them even when they do screw up.”
“If you think you stink”
I love this quote about creativity!! Move quickly to be more decisive. Edit later!!
Interesting look at the history of Pixar. I enjoyed reading about the creativity process for their films and Steve Jobs‘ role in the success of the company. I think this is the first nonfiction book I‘ve read for the year!
“You are not your idea, and if you identify too closely with your ideas you will take offense when they are challenged.”
Pretty good? I think?
I just finished this amazing book! Learned so much about creativity, leadership and management!
And I love all the references and behind the scenes look at all the Pixar/Disney movies! When watching them now, see them in a different light and appreciate them all the more for it!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Some Friday afternoon B&B (Beer & Books) or maybe R&B(Reading & Beer)? Anyway finally sitting down with this beaut!!!
I have started it twice before and then pushed it aside in favor of fiction, because this is such an awesome book that I want to give it my full attention, I want to soak it up and make notes along the way! Love it! Love it! Love it!!! Must read!
😍😎😍😎😍😎
I‘m trying to be very mindful of the season of #advent this year. I have 10 books left to read for my goal and for now this is going to be my bookmark. #weektwo #princeofpeace
"In a word: PERSIST. PERSIST on telling your story. PERSIST on reaching your audience. PERSIST on staying true to your vision..."
I‘m hardly through the prologue and already feel like this is going to be a 5 🌟 for me!
I cannot recommend this book more. First of all, I had no idea how involved Steve Jobs was in Pixar. But that's not the point of this book. If your job or passion relies on creativity, this book will give you insight on how to foster creativity in your workplace. It follows examples that you can relate to through Pixar's work. Ed Catmull is a creative leader we should all look up to.
This is fine, it's a little more history than I expected and less business culture. Interesting to see how a company like Pixar operates. I listened on audio and I wasn't too fond of the narrator - he was painfully earnest.
Starting this audiobook about Pixar. The most striking part of the book is how Ed (Mr. Ed?) had a singular vision to make a computer-animated film. For 20 years. Holding onto that for so long and succeeding makes me really happy 😊 also Steve Jobs omg
Day 17 #RecommendedBy - Although my husband does enjoy reading, I'm the reader of the family (so far) so it's not often he recommends a book to me. He told me about this book a couple of years ago because even though the book is focused on managing creativity, the author addresses it by talking about Pixar, which I love. #ReadJanuary @RealLifeReading
Weekend TBR: I've finished letter A (We Should All Be Feminists) and letter B (The Mothers) and this book is letter C. It is also number 2 of my Mount TBR challenge. Winnie is a true innovator. Here is her plank move (she gets stuck and doesn't remember what she was doing) ❤️ Aloha Friday! 🌺 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterC #DogsofLitsy #MountTBR
So I guess I don't read a lot of books with a #silhouetteonthecover. Just these three. #seasonsreadings @RealLifeReading
Failure isn‘t a necessary evil. In fact, it isn‘t evil at all. It is a necessary consequence of doing something new.
No #readingoutside for me today as it's rainy and cold. Instead, I'm chillin' on the couch with my pup, baseball on tv, and a good book of course! #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge
I hesitated to listen to this, but I'm not sure why. Any Pixar and Disney fan will love this. And any person who is even a little creative would benefit in checking this out. It's not too inside baseball, or technical. The large sections discussing Steve Jobs where particularly fascinating to me. I can't wait to listen to the Jobs biography.
My favorite bookstore is Brilliant Books in Traverse City Michigan! I discovered this on a weekend trip not long ago and spent hours browsing and talking to clerks and other patrons! They have an awesome selection of books, staff recommendations, @outofprint clothing and accessories, it's just A LOT of FUN!! I wish I lived closer, I'm still trying to justify a three hour drive to a bookstore 😂 #getindie
#bookanddrink (book not pictured because it's on the Kindle app on my phone!). I love nothing more than being able to do a little reading on my lunch break...it helps me de-stress from the first four hours and get me in a good mindset for the next four! #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge
#augustofpages #augustwrapup this has been my best reading month since joining @Litsy !!!
My #augusthaul, not included are my finds from the library book sale. Three for my Kindle, the rest from a little independent bookstore that I completely fell in love with while on a weekend trip just a couple weeks ago. #augustofpages

I'm choosing Creativity, Inc. for #underhypedbook today. I honestly didn't know this book existed until I was searching Pixar movies on Amazon and this popped up. It gets mixed reviews, I think like some varieties of cheese, it's an acquired taste; it's more about the management aspect than anything else but I LOVE it! #augustofpages
I love today's #Augustofpages prompt of #booksandstationary! Here we have my (FAVORITE!!) Erin Condren Life Planner, the little journals that I've talked about before - these hold all the creative ideas! My Minnie Mouse Moleskine, and quite possibly the best pens for journaling/planning - Papermate Flair pens! Also, my Kindle and several of my current reads therein 🙂
Baking cookies, awaiting the arrival of a plumber (😣), and in a surprising turn of events...watching The West Wing.
My #favoriteplacetorelax is my bed, which I had to leave painfully early this morning and likely will not see until late tonight....I love nothing more than curling up in the corner, surrounded by pillows of course, and spending hours lost in a book! #augustofpages
I sincerely hope these animators watched Finding Nemo...talk about animating bubbles?! They animated WATER for crying out loud! Water, and rays of sunshine IN the water, tiny specks of dirt and algae...computer animation sure has come a long long way.
It's the Friday before Vacation Bible School so my office has been moved to the staging area where I'm separating children into groups, helping our awesome Children's pastor make sure that crafts, snacks, and decorations are organized...and by now you all know that I work best with (noise of some kind) The West Wing in the background so I'm listening to Six Meetings Before Lunch while I work!
Between transitioning into a new job and subsequently working on several new work related projects I've let my own creativity fall by the wayside...something I realized yesterday while reading Creativity Inc. Today - my day off - I decided to sit down and do something creative; I'm going to do a few of the prompts in this book and see what comes from that.
