However, she soon finds herself drawn into another investigation when Serena Barrington asks her to look into the disappearance of valuable jewelry snatched at a dinner party.Unable to say no to an old family friend, Amory agrees to help lay a trap to catch the culprit at a lavish masked ball hosted by the notorious Viscount Dunmore. But when one of the illustrious party guests is murdered, Amory is pulled back into the world of detection, enlisted by old ally Detective Inspector Jones. As she works through the suspect list, she struggles to fend off the advances of the very persistent viscount even as rumors swirl about Milo and a French film star. Once again, Amory and Milo must work together to solve a mystery where nothing is as it seems, set in the heart of 1930s society London.Death Wears a Mask is the second novel in Ashley Weaver's witty and stylish Amory and Milo Ames mystery series.

I finished the first book in this series and immediately missed the characters and needed to pick up the 2nd book.

This one was just as good. Amory and Milo are back in London, they get invited to a party where the host asks Amory to keep an eye on her guests to figure out which one is a thief. And chaos ensues from there.

I really can‘t wait to keep reading this series!

I think you either like these, and find them delightful or they annoy the hell out of you for being clichéd and dull. If you enjoyed Weaver's debut novel then you will love this second Amory Ames installment. The hot and cold relationship between our protagonist and her seemingly philandering husband become a little tried. Leave him or put up with it but I liked the character of the maid as she developed - I hope she remains in future mysteries.

#CurrentlyListening to the second in the #AmoryAmes #cozymystery series. But they switched narrators! That‘s a pet peeve of mine in series. And I find this narrator #AlisonLarkin —who also narrates some of the Agatha Raisin books— rather annoying. The tone of her voice just grates on me. I hope I get used to it; I‘d hate to bail on the rest of this series...

DGRachel I hate when narrators change, especially when the replacement is annoying. 😔 4y

Where are my fellow #cozymystery fans? I just finished this novel by Ashley Weaver, and I loved it! Admittedly, I read this one before the first in the series, but it was fine read independently. I can‘t wait to read the rest of the Amory Ames mysteries!

“All other considerations aside, it would be quite embarrassing to be murdered.”

Chrissyreadit Nice! #cozyswap ideas @Mommamanzi @Avanders have you read this? @BethM historical fiction and cozy? Is this more similar to what you like in historical fiction? 4y

Second book completed during the #24in48 #readathon .

This is the second in the Amory Ames mystery series, and it was as fun as the first. Amory, with her playboy husband Milo, set off the solve two mysteries, which may be the same culprit. Amory is strong, and I‘m really not a fan of Milo. Plus, Amory, wittingly or unwittingly, seems to grab the attention of the most unsavory guy in the group. Fun historical mystery. #CozyInTheSun

Book #6 for #cozyinthesun. This is one of my favorite historical settings - between the wars in England. The mystery in this one was just okay- I figured out the culprit early on. I love the characters though! And the covers are wonderful. (At least this cover that I got from goodreads is!)

Librarybelle It is a wonderful cover, and I‘ve got this one lined up to read this weekend! 5y
ferskner I love that Art Deco look. 5y

Second in the Amory Ames series. I enjoyed this one even more than the first. Interesting plot development and fun characters. This would make a fun television series. 😁

With this book, the jealousy issue almost got too much for me. Amory wants Milo to change and stop being a playboy, and while Milo's supposed to be wonderful and amazing, I don't see why she puts up with it.

Neither the relationship drama nor the mystery is the pinnacle of good writing, or necessarily even a truly gripping story. But it's light and easy and doesn't require much from me, which has its place!

1930s English Cozy. Very much in the tradition of Rhys Bowen's Her Royal Spyness series, this is book two which follows Amory Ames back to London where she finds herself embroiled in another mystery. This time she's on the hunt for not only the murderer but a jewel thief as well. Coming along for the ride is her playboy husband Milo whose former philandering ways are still wrecking havoc on their marriage. Will it work out? Read on to find out!

Snowy day (though not as snowy here as it's supposed to be in other areas) but I don't have to work and I have a cat, a cup of coffee, and a mystery to read. Perfect! 😺☕📕 #catsoflitsy

I love this mystery series, which is set in Britain but full of old Hollywood glamour. If you love Bogie/Bacall as much as I do, do yourself a favor and start reading the first book, Murder at the Brightwell.

Nightshifts are finally over and I'm on the train home with a good (hopefully) book. 1930s crime is what I need at this point in time!
