It's been a long slow ride, but I'll be happy to be able to say I've finally read this....

About a third of the way through this, hasn't spooked me yet but enjoying the ride!

Just picked up from the library today....it's a brand new copy too! 😃 *sniff!*
Throwback to being on holidays in a cabin in the bush last week.....here was my reading view.
Went to the local bookfair today. Here's evidence of the fun that was had.
The hardest part is deciding what to read first! Although I think I'm most excited about picking up Bernadette.
I am soooo ready for this. I think I've uncovered a new wheelhouse of mine - behind the scenes with political staffers and other employees. Yessss
I have NOT been having a good reading time lately. Officially in #readingslump . I picked this up on a whim, in the hope it would crack it for me. And if nothing else, #thatcover
Enjoying this so far. I love yoga and am well into it (I'm starting teacher training in three months), but if I wasn't, I think this would be the one to convince me to have a go. Very accessible and motivating.
Both of us buddy read The Girls, our review is up on the blog. Some people might not like what we have to say! Did you love this book? Hate it? Feel indifferent towards it?
Sunday night - rain, cold, slow-cooked beef casserole, wine, book. What more do you want?
Top to bottom - #currentlyreading , just finished reading, and #readingnext x 2
Wow, what was that even? I feel like I've been on an acid trip. It was unsettling, and creepy, and it didn't make sense. But I couldn't stop! I loved it! If you like your books with a dash of weird, this will work for you.
Day off work! Going to start this now and hopefully get through it today. I hear it's weird and unsettling. Let's see if it makes me feel like I'm in a fever dream!
Friday night on the blawg....this one still has me pondering over it. I think its strengths lie in its character development and the open-ended themes. This would be a great read for a book club. 4 stars!
Lunchtime is reading time! Just started this and it's a lot of fun so far.
Obviously I want to read this, but I probably would have bought it just for the cover even if I didn't!
Definitely one of my favourite finds from yesterday's bookfair. Does anyone else feel a bit panicky overwhelmed when they buy a lot of books at once? I want to consume them all right now! Where to start?!
This was the page that did it for me. After 76 pages, I just can't anymore. I didn't understand this passage at all, and it wasn't the first one I struggled with. Maybe I just can't get on board with the author's writing style? Disappointed as I really thought I would love this, but I'm still keen to give Cleopatra a try at some stage.
Just opened this, which I've heard referred to as "the perfect novel".
That anticipation when you're about to start a new book!
My current read - I started this one while at the coast this week, you can see why! I had hoped to have it finished in time to start 2017 with a fresh book, but never mind. What book will you start your year with? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! #thatcover #australianauthors
Christmas books for every member of the family! Merry Christmas, hope yours is filled with lots of books too.
Is this book adorable or what? Oh A.J., I just want to hug you! Such an enjoyable book to see out the year with.
Had the opportunity today for a childless visit to my local independent bookstore, I picked this up. It's really unlike anything else I own but has been on my TBR for a while. In the mood for some #nonfiction Notice the sparkly spots on the cover to resemble the rain!
I read Furiously Happy and nearly peed my pants with laughter. It even gave me happy tears! And yet, it's about mental illness. How does one make that funny?! Magic, I say.
I've almost finished my book, and I can't decide what to read next! Help me decide - what would you pick out of this bunch? Hit me with your votes!
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
Burial Rites - Hannah Kent
The Fireman - Joe Hill
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
The Storied Life of AJ Fikry - Gabrielle Zevin

Oh it was soooooo gooooood. I speed-read through the last third, couldn't pull myself away. Great character development, I couldn't decide who I loved more! So many great, dark, fantastical elements, and many moments of action and suspense. Can't wait until the next book drops in 2017, I have to know what happens!!
Got!
Hubby and I have had lots of lengthy discussions lately about virtual reality and augmented reality and how it will change our daily lives as it becomes the norm (remember when social media was only starting to become the norm?). I'm really looking forward to reading this collection of stories about these technologies!
We're buddy reading this at the moment (one of us is reading it for the second time). Cheryl Strayed's advice is unlike any other, so holistic and thoughtful and poetic. We both agree, this book makes us want to be better people!
Have been slack lately with little blogging done - but I HAVE been reading! A mix of bite-sized reviews of my recent reads on the blog now - littleblogofbooks.com (hint: it's more than just the four books you see in the photo!)
Powered through this! I feel like this book said truths that in general, remain unsaid in the motherhood circle, but because they were said through the eyes of a likeable and relatable character, those truths were ok to say, instead of shocking. I know I will think of Maribeth and her family over and over again for quite some time!
Yes, let's do this! I am ready to dive into a new world!
So, here is my haul from the recent local bookfair. It was probably one of the greatest days ever. This photo makes me happy.
Current read - I'm 130 pages in and so far I've laughed, nodded my head in empathy, and been furious. Enjoying it so far!
Just finished - I have had my eye on this beauty for a while....I'll admit, mainly because of that cover. But I was sadly not taken with it. I feel like I had too many unanswered questions to be satisfied by the end. And it might just be me, but I feel like I missed the point. Bummer.
