I've heard so much about this, how different it supposedly is from other fantasy books. So, let's see...
Still on the Path of Daggers.
Enjoying the second half of it together with some afternoon sun in Athens, Greece.
The tv series is starting soon and the fandom has been going crazy over on Twitter. I'm still on my first read of the series, but the die-hard fans' enthusiasm is infectious 😄
Setting out on the Path of Daggers 🙂
I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous one, mostly due to the certain secondary characters not appearing, but the surprise ending makes me want to start the next one straight away.
A bit weary of the mentioning of industrialisation, but I still trust Abercrombie to deliver once again. Let's see, if the age of machines and fantasy can mix.
For me, the best instalment in the series so far.
I loved the development and increased attention some of the secondary characters got and the addition to the more permanent roster of some very promising new ones.
Makes me very excited for the next book in the series.
I know a Dresden Files reference, when I see one 😃
I love discovering that authors are fans of the same things I'm a fan of 😊
This commute to my current interpreting assignment is giving me some serious reading time, so I'm about to finish the second book in the series.
It's much mellower than other urban fantasy series I've rrad, but I like the characters and the mix of science and magic.
So, due to a rail strike where I live, I'll now be on a tram for the next hour and 20 minutes. But hey, reading time 😊
Giving this a second try now. Last time (a couple of years ago) I only made it to about page 60 before something else caught my fancy. Let's see what happens this time.
I've unintentionally managed to colour coordinate with my book today 😃
I've also just finished it and must say that I liked it a lot. For me, it is one of these calm books, that draws you in and makes you wish it could last forever, because you just want to go on meeting more and more of the engaging characters.
I have some thoughts about the role of race and colour, but I have to sort them first.
Recommended reading 😊
Currently in Greece in an interpreting assignment. Could be worse 😉
Well, it's not on to Wheel of Time #8, because the book is at my brother's place 😐
I bought Six of Crows a while ago, because I liked the premise of the rag-tag band of outcasts working together and I have to say that the read is as pleasant as I had hoped for and even more engaging than I had expected.
There is a nice balance between foreshadowing and ominous hints and the eventual reveal.
I really enjoy the characters and the worldbuilding.
It's a bank holiday where I live, so this is what I've been doing more or less all day today and it has been glorious, after a few weeks of successive interpreting and translation assignments.
30 pages left and then it's straight on to The Path of Daggers.
My reading slump seems to be receding, thank the Light.
Time to catch up on Black Magic. If someone is looking for a witchy read for ghost season, then I recommend this series!
The art is stunning and the use of sepia tones and bursts of colour inspired.
The story is multilayered as well and keeps you wondering when and how it will all come (or maybe crash?) together.
Finally 😃 I was thunderstruck, when the bookshop told me that my pre-order hadn't gone through and that it would take about 9 days to order it now.
I hate doing it, but I ended up ordering at Amazon and now I can dive in 🥰
Tuesday is the day :D
I finally got the 3 last issues I was missing, so here is to a re-read/first read of this awesome series.
I was hoping for a new Generation X (the run from the 90's) and until now things are looking good 😃
It's just 2 issues in, but I have high hopes. There is some very promising foreshadowing and Young's art is a perfect match (Bachalo would have been my dream choice, but we can't have everything. #comics #marvel
I really liked this short but sweet series. It doesn't pretend to have all the answers and just tells the story of people trying to find their place in life.
And the have a squid pillow 🤩
I still believe it would have been fine as one great longer book instead of one story in two instalments.
So true! I once read a short article by a guy, who calculated how many books he would still be able to read in his lifetime (I think he was in his 40ies) and it was a shockingly low number 😅. Then considering all the rereads I like to do.... Better not think about it and just keep on reading :P
The time for this book has finally come 😊 I've had it for quite some time, but I guess I was saving it? Who knows how a reader's mind works 😀
For the fantasy crowd :D It will be available on youtube for some time after the panel's “premiere“.

I promise I won't be posting these every day for 66 days 😂 At least not until we have reached a lower number ;-)
But what if the coffee already is cold? A small cafe in Tokyo lets you travel back in time, but you have to come back before the coffee you were served gets cold.
Starting it now 😊
6 years we have been waiting for this!
All I can say now is: Do not disturb!! 😁

Appalling, predatory behaviour by Warren Ellis! I will not be reading his work any longer!

Us Dresden Files fans have been waiting for this book for 6 whole years!! And now we are getting 2 new books in one year!! 🎉🎉🎉
I have been so excited and am dying to get my hands in it!
This book has to break my reading slump 🙏
Pandemic, social distancing, lockdown, tons of time to stay home and read. A book worms dream, right? Well, not for me. I've been in a complete reading slump since this whole mess started. I have books I've been dying to read and have even bought new ones, but lack the drive to actually pick them up. Audio books and podcasts, yes. Books, no. I don't know why. I hope the new Dresden Files book, which has been 6 years the making, changes things.
My first purchase for 2020. I think the year is off to a good start 😄
Happy New Year, dear fellow littens! I'll try and be more active here in 2020. May this year bring us all health and peace. 😊
I have a cold and a cough, so I'm already in bed at 10 pm and indulging in some Bridgerton romance.
I just popped into the train station's bookshop for 10 minutes trying to kill some time...
In my defence, I was unsupervised 😉
A science crew who finance their scientific mission into outer space by shooting and streaming an adult movie with each new species they encounter? That sounds so delightfully absurd that I just had to give it a try. The first issue did not disappoint, funny with a nice dose of space adventure.
I have work to do, but this book is keeping me hostage!!! 😂
Becky Chambers delivers again. I want to know everything about every single character in this book. I never want to leave them and I want to read about them for ever.

And some previous casting news about the Wheel of Time. I think that Mat and Nynaeve look just perfect :)
Rand looks a bit boyish, but maybe it's just the picture.

Lan has been cast. I'm happy with the choice. They just need to “roughen him up“ a bit, but I'm sure make-up and wardrobe has already thought of that ;-)
Athens airport (Greece) now has books on every table at the gates. Not a bad idea 😀
A spontaneous airport buy, but it's Becky Chambers writing a space story, so how bad can it be, right? 😀
