I read this for a summer class I'm taking. It's a very well written and an amazing story, but it doesn't sit well with me to put a rating on real experiences Solomon Northup endured, especially considering the nature of what he braved. Suffice to say, this is an emotional, eye opening read, and I heartily recommend it.

Love the imagination and creativity of the magic system! I wanted to see how on Earth paper magic could be useful and it certainly delivered! Ceony has a lot of spunk and Emery is very well fleshed out. Kinda reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle, but less castle and movement involved, and way more paper. However dislikers of flashbacks, stay away.

An amazing, emotional novel. I‘ve never read anything by Nina LaCour before and I‘d like to try some of her other works now. Her prose is lovely, exquisitely capturing the warm waters of California and the frigid cold of New York. So many waves of nostalgia hit me while reading this. Perfectly captures the transition from high school to college.

I flew through this one. It's a good light read (that gradually becomes more serious), but is still average compared to other YA romance books in terms of writing. However Maddy and Olly's relationship is remarkably sweet and adorable. Everything, Everything reminds me of John Green's works, so if you like his novels, I recommend giving this one a try. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Didn't enjoy it as much as Huck Finn, but this is still a fun romp! It's mostly entertaining and lighthearted (except when it's not). It reminded me of my childhood in a strange way, reading about these boys playing bandits and looking for fun in places you wouldn't think to look. Although these boys certainly found more than they bargained for...

If you're on the fence about reading The Dream Thieves because you thought that The Raven Boys was too slow, I'd encourage giving the second book a chance because the stakes are raised, the cars are faster, and Glendower is still, well, dead and being quested for. Finished this for class! This edition has some nice illustrations, so I thought I'd share one with y'all. Overall, it was an entertaining play. Not my favorite Tanith Lee novel, but still an entertaining and immersive read. Great twist at the end!
