Book two picks up where Mind Games leaves off and Perfect Lies by Kiersten White moves us right back into Fi and Annie‘s world of turmoil. After years of being manipulated and controlled, Fia has a plan that will finally set her free. The book was a bit lackluster compared to the first which drew me in from the start. I felt like I was constantly waiting for something to happen, and then Perfect Lies by Kiersten White was ended.

My current read for my library book club, but wanted to say sorry for the flood. I've been behind on my posts and trying to catch up.

Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs has been on my TBR for three years, I found it at our library. I can see how things may be considered funny but to me the story was about a boy with a delusional mother, abusive father, and a quack of a doctor with a predator in his fold.Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs was interesting, and I finished it quickly. It‘s not a book I‘ll re-read, and not one I‘d be comfortable recommending.

I enjoyed the Fallen series and was excited to see Teardrop by Lauren Kate. The story of Eureka is different. I like Lauren Kate‘s writing style and the worlds she builds. Eureka, however, is my least character by far. I‘m excited to see how the story ends and what happens to Eureka and Ander. I guess mainly I hope that book two is not as lackluster as book one, and that maybe Eureka will develop a bit of personality and some depth.

I read a lot of James Patterson. Usually they‘re quick reads and an easy way to pull me out of a slump. That was not the case with Lifeguard by James Patterson and Andrew Gross. The story overall was a slow burn, but not one I‘ll remember for long. The premise of Lifeguard by James Patterson and Andrew Gross seems interesting. The story is boring and predictable, certainly not the James Patterson I usually enjoy.

Currently listening to my book for the first time in a couple of days. I‘m way behind on updates and posting. I‘ll try and get caught up sometime this week. Why is December always so hectic? House is mainly decorated, Christmas cards in progress, presents to wrap, work work work. It‘s the most wonderful time of the year? How do you cope when you‘re busy?

The book follows Jane, single mom, immigrant to America, and her struggle to provide for her family and live the American Dream. The characters of the book are incredible. They‘re well written and step out of the pages and seem real. The story and their struggles are also real. Their strength, through all the drama of the book, is empowering. Overall, The Farm was one of my most anticipated reads this year and did not disappoint.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is a look at our possible future, a world where life is primarily online, from school to work. A world that it seems isn‘t in the far-distance future. Wade is relatable.When we first meet Wade, The Hunt has already been in progress, but with little success. Moving through the pop culture challenges required to find the keys invokes not only nostalgia, but makes rooting for Wade easy.

The story is interesting enough, but the characters are a bit bland. Annie should have been very likable, but instead comes off as needy. Fia is the other side of the coin. She should be an amazing heroine, but instead she‘s always focused on James and how to build her relationship with him.

All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is a classic book about World War I that my husband found on a top list of war books. This short book touches a lot of themes of most war books, but the biggest is that even though you‘re on opposite sides of the same war, we‘re all still humans, and not enemies outside of the war itself.

I pick a lot of books based on the cover. Most of the time I don't read the synopsis, I download and start listening. Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan is another book that I checked out based on the cover.
Nasty is a strong character with a lot of questions, and not a lot of answers. Throughout the book she grows and learns answers to things she hadn't thought about in years. The book is a slow burn, but I enjoyed it enough to pick up book two.

Pumpkinheads is a great story for fall, especially since it occurs at a pumpkin patch. Deja and Josiah are working their final night at “The Patch” and Deja wants to make sure that it‘s special, by helping Josiah finally talk to The Fudge Girl.
It's a light-hearted and cute novel. My favorite part is that it wasn‘t heavy, you could take everything at face value and not worry about reading between the lines.
