"Mostly I watch the scary movies playing on the inside of my eyelids." ?
Took the book tree down this weekend, have read on the left, TBR on the right. I have some work to do.
Can't wait for Super Awesome Book Club Christmas party & blind book exchange! 🎄
🎶oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree🎶 🎄
Super Awesome Book Club meets tonight to discuss the first part of Bird Box! I'm so happy to be getting my reading life back on track after the busiest month ever!
Didn't get as far in to this as I was hoping while on vacation, but with views like this who can blame me?
When I was little I was terrible about returning books to the library. I was convinced I had a million dollar fine or was just banned altogether. But I finally got up the courage to go back! Fingers crossed I can become a model library patron!! Can't wait to start this when we go to Montana next week! #newlibrarycard
"I could barely remember to stop at the drugstore to buy toothpaste- it didn't seem realistic to think I could incorporate these high aims into my everyday routine."
Finished this today and I have no idea what to do with myself now. Beautifully written, with unapologetic honesty, you can feel the amount of time, effort and thoughtfulness whitehead put into this. It must have been an enormous undertaking and the final product lives up to every bit of hype it's received. In fact, it should probably receive more hype. This is definitely a story that will stay with you.
All the books and comics I acquired in August, I might have a book buying problem #Augustphotochallenge #augusthaul #tbrtuesday
Thank you @penguinrandomhouse and @Litsy #bestappever for an A-MAZING prize package!!! The only problem I have now is what to read first!!! #booknerdproblems
Doing a book trade with Scott (my husband), I read this and he (FINALLY!) starts reading Saga. So far this is really fun and I'll probably add the rest of the series to my ever-growing, leaning tower of Pisa tbr pile 😊
Does this mean Mindy Kaling is psychic?! Even if she's not she's smart and funny and seems really sweet. I'd like to think of we lived in the same town we'd be friends. 😊
Just finished this for the next Super Awesome Book Club meeting and it's perfect for #day22 of #augustphotochallenge The whole book is basically about Evie losing her innocence. It's not so much being a part of the cult/crime that takes her innocence, but just simply being. The most interesting and poignant parts for me were Evie's own thoughts and observations about (what Cline calls) "the everyday crime of being a teenage girl."
Super awesome book club meeting, discussing The Girls and drinking a bottle of wine from Emma Cline's family vineyard! #perfectpair #superawesomebookclub
#augustphotochallenge #day16 Comics count as an author collaboration, right? 😊This is the book that made me a comics reader. I laugh, I cry, I scream wtf! It's super smart, terrifying and gruesome. The realness of the human interaction is so incredibly disturbing at times. Also the trade covers. They all connect to form a continuous zombie hoard across the bottom. 🤘
Failing at #augustphotochallenge because I can't remember to post every day 😜 I may have terrible social media skills but I've got #bookstacks to spare. Some of these I've read, some are on my tbr, but they're only a fraction of what litters our home. #stackonstacks
One of my beloved books from childhood, this is my original copy, complete with pencil marks and food stains. I took it to college with me and now it holds a special place on my shelf. Every time I look up and see it, I smile. #augustphotochallenge #day8 #booksthatmakeyousmile
Victoria and Caitlin. Vixen and Cassandra. Their friendship isn't perfect (sometimes it might not even be healthy) but it's heart-felt, fascinating, and at times gut-wrenching. One of my all time favorite books, I still remember the first time I read it with my best friend. #augustphotochallenge #bookishfriendships @TheSpinecrackersBookClub
It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite illustration from this book. Jim Kay's art brings to life all the beautiful and fantastical people and places of my beloved wizarding world.
Seriously just figuring out that the Marjorie Liu who writes Monstress is the same Marjorie M. Liu who writes the Dirk & Steele paranormal romance series. #mindblown 😳💥
All the feels. These characters will always feel like home to me. ❤️⚡️
Super Awesome Book Club knows how to brunch!
If you need me this weekend, I'll be at hogwarts❤️
Nope. Sorry Mr. Bugliosi, but all of this was unnecessary. Hoping there aren't too many of these "I believe in justice" monologues. I have to take it with a grain of salt considering the less than flattering picture he's given us of the police and the glowing one he gives us of himself.
This book makes me feel like I'm late to the party it's been written about so much. It makes me question my education, why wasn't this required reading? It made me crave a cigarette & a beer & it knocked the wind out of me. all I can do is sit here enjoying my freedoms and thinking about my ovaries
My husband went to the comic book store for me while I was out of town, because he's awesome.
The audiobook was surprisingly easy to follow. Roy Dotrice speaks clearly and changes his voice for characters. The first season of the show follows the book fairly closely, although I'm told that changes. Hoping Sansa still becomes a badass, because she is the worst in this book. RIP Lady ❤️
Perfect day to catch up on my book club book
"A new edition to the art of the old code" - Run the Jewels
It's been a long time since I've read and seen this play, I forgot just how powerful it truly is.
Feminist day at the Friends of the Library Bookstore #bookshoptreasurehunting
So excited to get deeper into this story 😉 #sorrynotsorry #impunny
Saturday night plans #partyanimal #talknerdytome
Discussing Nimona at this week's meeting of the Super Awesome Book Club. I'm so excited, this was such a wonderful story, and a great way for our club to explore graphic novels. This was a first for a lot of members but so far the response has been great! Stevenson created something very special ❤️
Such an inspirational story, this girl manages to balance the wisdom of her experiences with the innocence of her youth. It's amazing all she is accomplishing for her cause.
