This is a must read book! One is the best I have read in 2020. Takes place right after what happened to Freddie Gray. I lived in Maryland during this time. Always was lead to believe the rioters raided the drugs at Rite Aide. Guess again. Corrupt police, entire departments. Reads like a crime novel. Wish it were one. So sad that it‘s true.

I really don‘t know how I feel about this book. Took forever to read. I did not feel anything for anyone involved in this murder and memoir. She combines what happened to her as a child and a man convicted of murder. The argument is sentence to die or life sentence. Weird book.

One of the best books I have read. This is the second in a series but can be read as a stand alone. This mother daughter writing duo is awesome. Really great book, had me in tears at the end and I don‘t cry. I did not figure it out at all. Usually I can guess the killer in a few chapters, not with this one. Highly recommend

Older book. Very well written. Mother daughter writing duo. Liked the characters, kept me guessing. Sort of a police/detective procedural but with a nice twist. Computer nerds and gamers thrown in the mix. This is the first one in a series and I have ordered the second. Good book. 4 out of 5 stars

Good book. Nice light read. Start of the Kate Lange series. Believable characters, good plot. For a new author not a bad first try

Finally finished this book. Glad I stuck with it when I wanted to just toss it. Takes place in South Africa where if you commit a crime you get assigned an animal to carry with you at all times making you animaled or a zoo boy/ girl. When your animal dies, so do you. This book has it all, a sloth, a serial killer, and a story unlike one I have ever read. Another good book by this author even if it started a bit slow.

Really want to like this book. Loved The Shining Girls and Broken Monsters. This one is hard for me to get into. Struggling. Have read 127 of 302 pages and plan to keep going.

I liked this book quite a bit. I love that it takes place in Louisiana on the bayou. I feel her writing improves with each book. This is a great story that kept me guessing. I did not get bored or sidetracked at all, really held my interest. A good story.

Finished this book today. Absolutely loved it! She gets better and better with each one. The end was a bit predictable but given the characters it was perfect for them. Book had a little bit of everything. Really liked it

I loved this book. She tells a story like no one else. The characters were all easy to relate to, even if your own views are different. I wanted to hate the shooter but did not. Her writing just gets better and better.

I love noir so I should have liked this book. I think the problem was I didn‘t like the main character. I did not connect to her in any way. I like most of her books but this one meh.....

I like the Amos Decker series by this author. I found this book to be good, well written but it did drag a bit. Had some good twists and turns. Kept me guessing for the most part. Did introduce his partners family and a town in the midst of an opioid epidemic. Dirty cops, insurance fraud, murder and a search for hidden money. I would have liked it more had I not still been hung up on Rabbit Cake.

This book! Best book I have read in a long time. This is my favorite family. They are flawed, odd, drowning in grief and I loved all of them. The story is told thru the youngest daughter whose name is Elvis. Do yourself a favor and read this wonderful book,

It melted! Did not like this book! Boring and way to long. Really wanted to like it but no. This was like the third one in a row I was not happy with. Too bad. Should have liked it. The blurb appealed to me. Ah well. Guess Harry will not be joining my list of detectives I follow.

I really don‘t know why I read this book. I think I have read every nonfiction book regarding the Manson family and found this one a trite take off. Story was not predictable and not very good at that. Perhaps if you didn‘t know anything about the story it may be okay. Found the characters boring and unlike able. Sorry I read it

I really tried with this book. 400 pages in and bored beyond belief. I am used to a much faster pace. Keep thinking it will pick up but no. Very well written but at a snails pace. I wanted to enjoy it because it is so outside of my usual type of book. Trying to read different genres but....

KrystleTheBookSlayer That's why I'm so hesitant to even attempt reading it, I hate to bail on a book, but I also really hate a slow story. 😞 7y

Wow! What a read. I loved this book. Read it in a day and a half. Great story. A bit twisted. Boy meets girl in a bar, a relationship grows, trip to visit his parents. She has second thoughts with little hints along the way. Did not see the ending coming. Really good book!

I did not finish this book as I found it incredibly boring. This should tell you something since I very rarely give up on a book. The reviews were fabulous, could not wait to begin. Page 73 is as far as I got. I started to hate Finley. Not a good thing. I have read a liked other books by this author so this one shocked me in that I don‘t like it. Snooze fest.

Has anyone read this book? Struggling to get in to it.

Aleida I am. It's a bear. While it's very good, it's very long and the author takes him time teasing out the story. 7y
Kimiam Ok. I will stick with it. Thanks 7y
DrexEdit I loved this book, but I love all Murakami books. That said, this was originally published in 3 volumes so you can break it into more manageable pieces and not feel bad about it. 7y
Kimiam I read that. I may have to do that. Might be a bit more manageable unless I really get in to it 7y

Awesome book. Have been reading out of my comfort zone lately and man am I happy. I can see this turning into a serial. Great story line, kick ass main character. She receives little handwritten messages on scraps of paper with cryptic clues as to what is going to happen. She prevents people from being harmed often at great risk to herself. Really held my interest throughout.

This book was what I needed after my last read. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. A light easy story and book. The author writes well, can really turn a phrase, but.... I was looking for the "hook" and did not find it. I often do this after reading a really good book, the next one isn't great. I still thought the story was good, the characters well written and relatable. I wish I liked it more.

This book is amazing! Has it all. I am an avid reader of police procedurals, mysteries, and a bit of gore. Finding it in one book plus so much more. Never ever thought I would read a time travel book. The idea is just not appealing to me, but a time traveling serial killer! Wow!
One of the best books I have read in a while. First time reading this author and am headed to the bookstore to find more. 5 out of 5 stars!

Late to the gate on this one. Usually I avoid books that I know will give me either the feels or flashbacks. But....Woody! Saw him in a preview for the movie and had to read it. Glad I waited. Read the fathers part in Woody's voice. I think I would not have liked this book as much if I didn't. I would have hated the father but who can hate Woody? Really liked this book in spite of the feels. Now I need a weird book.
