Who else is excited for ASOUE on Netflix?? I just found out the first season covers the first four books, so today's goal is to speed through books 3 and 4 and settle down for something TERRIBLE this evening!

A wonderfully diverse cast of characters, women gaining power through force, elegance, and magic, and now this! I'm in love 😍

Maybe I would have liked this as a kid, but now it just seems self-serving and awkward.

Coates takes his time in these first few issues, setting up a Wakanda weakened by the outside world and on the brink of revolution. Poetry driven by just enough action, the Black Panther has evolved beautifully in this new addition to the canon.

Who knew office rivalry turned romance could be so decadent? Lush descriptions kept me aching for more, even if the characters' motivations got a little fuzzy. All in all, I was enchanted and left hungry for more!

#LitsyAtoZ #LetterA I laughed, I cried, I felt a deeper bond in 200 pages than I've had with some characters on whole series. Andrea was a hot mess of emotions, but she ultimately learns compassion and outward thinking, the most important lesson of all.

I went in looking for a beach read, and ended up enraged at both main characters. While they start out as best friends, the relationship is obviously poisonous and you watch as he takes advantage of her in every way. Important subject matter, but not at all what I signed up for!

Avoiding work for one more day while I curl up with my first read of the #LitsyAtoZ challenge! Still searching for books to fill out the first few letters, and looking for a few more challenges to take on, but I'm excited to get started!

Time to soak away the madness of 2016 before I get on a New Years Cruise! Hopefully the world is a little brighter and full of fizzy joy in 2017

Finally finished up this beauty, but I don't think I'll ever be done with it. These essays, introductions, and speeches have Gaiman's distinctive imagination and whimsy, but they also lay bare his incredible NEED to write, fiction or non, that has driven his outstanding career. I couldn't help laughing, crying, and getting SO FRICKING INSPIRED.

I picked this book up for its cover, but I'm staying for the hilarious writing! Allan Wolf says it "does for mythology what HAMILTON has done for U.S. History" and he's right because it's in verse!! I've been quietly rapping to myself since I started reading! ?

Today rocked!!! I climbed to the top of Hole-In-The-Rock in Phoenix, and only fell (slid on my butt for a few feet) once! I'm sure the hard-core lady types of Lumberjanes would have been right there with me.

This stunning memoir made me shed more than one tear. Amanda's frankness and care made me wish to be the kind, open person I could be, if I only asked.

Let me say one thing before I start. I've told stories in the past, painted pictures with words, told heart lies and heart are truths. Once I send colors to a blind man. Seven hours I played, but at the end he said he saw them, green and red and gold. But, I think, was easier than this. Trying to make you understand her with nothing more than words. You have never seen her, never heard her voice. You cannot know.

We were none of us particularly drunk. But then again, none of us were particularly sober, either. Our exact positioning between those two points is a matter of pointless conjecture, and I will waste no time on it.

Finally cracking into this beauty to mix up my spooky #booktober reads and found quite a stinger! I wonder how Lin-Manuel Miranda felt reading this line for the audiobook 😂😂

Not the worst YA fantasy I've read, but definitely not the best. If I'd known it was a series, I honestly don't think I'd finish the book. That said, there were some great concepts at work here. I loved the woman-centric world Blake built, and it could go in some interesting places based on how it ends!

Hatun sees a different world than you and I, a far more frightening one, full of far more terrible dangers, and still she chooses to be the hero whom that world needs. She has saved this town and its people from countless monsters countless times. That the battles are usually in her head does not lessen the bravery of it. The hardest battles always are.

In those days I had known there must be monsters in the world, but I would happily accept them, knowing that, by the same logic, there must also be wizards and wands and flying carpets. I had never really closed that part of my mind, just slowly stopped visiting it as I grew older. I had left it unlocked like the jumbled treasure room upstairs, waiting for someone to come poking about.

I wanted to like this one, but it just never grabbed me. The semi-unreliable narrator was almost charming, but the twist didn't hold up to the suspense of the first half. Glad I listened at work and didn't put my full attention to it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
