I selected this book for my December book club read, thanks to the advice of @Sarahsbookshelves - wow did it make for some powerful discussion! An intimate look at what it means to grow up in white working class America, Vance's memoir felt honest and heartbreaking and insightful in a way that reminded me in ways of Cheryl Strayed's Tiny Beautiful Things (which I also adored) and the subject, of course, is incredibly timely. Highly recommend.
