This book is...not great. It could be worse, but not too much hah. I really like Yar and Data as characters, but I don‘t think they really did either justice. Data maybe. I think I clocked 12 hours total in the #votedearlyreadathon

So I didn‘t completely stick to my original goal of not starting or buying any new books until I finished my original list for #votedearlyreadsthon. I did start 2 ch a day reads & 2 author a month reads for Nov, & buy a new copy of my #lmpbc book from evil Amazon b/c the one I originally bought independently got delayed due to Covid & then returned to the distributor. BUT I did finish all the books on my original list! So I think I‘m good. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

I love L. M. Montgomery‘s novel writing. Started this collection of her darker works for spooky October, but only got halfway through then. A few of the sort stories in this were amazing! Others fell totally flat for me. In the end I think there weren‘t quite enough standout stories to keep this all from feeling a bit too atonal.

Since #votedearlyreadathon has been extended, jumping in! 😄 Have listened to 6hrs 10 min. of various audiobooks the past few days, including Northanger Abbey for the #Pemberlittens chapter-a-day. During trying times like these, I'm grateful for books and places like Litsy. 💜

I started out really disliking all the characters in this book, but they grew on me and I got caught up in their exchanges. I found this to be a perfectly good distraction for today, which was key. I didn‘t think there was anything standout about this, and the characters themselves confirmed my impression that Rowell‘s real strength is as a YA author. (though even there I‘m not convinced she‘s my cup of tea)
