I have about 5 prompts to catch up on this weekend so I will do them in no particular order.
When I think of a #TimeBombTown I think of the hidden Rockton, tucked away in the Canadian Yukon & filled with people hiding from something. It always seems like a ticking time bomb is waiting to go off there. (And yes, I use this series a lot! 😉) Waiting for book #5.

For some reason I passed the book along, but this was a fun time travel read; where the heroine gets transported to a pirate ship in the midst of a battle!

Another favorite movie of mine! Was able to see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra perform the score while watching the movie above them!

#SoaringScores #TimeBombTown #NetGalley #ARC Book releases October 15, 2019. A timely look at race relations. Told in the past (Los Angeles 1991/1992 ) and the present day. Based loosely around the shooting of Latasha Harlan‘s, an African American shot in the head by a Korean store owner who thought her life was in danger and the ensuing LA Race Riots. This book had wonderful potential but it was too YA in it‘s writing & storytelling for me.

Cinfhen What grades do you teach @thereflectiveflaneur ?? Certainly HS students would be comfortable with the material / maybe not Middle Grade. I found the dialogue a little simplified 🤷🏼‍♀️#RightBookWrongReader 5y

I‘m starting this nonfiction account of a circus fire today. When the Ringling Brothers circus came to town, no one could guess the tragedy that would unfold when 8,000 people would be trapped in a burning circus tent.

Midnight in Siberia: A Train Journey into the Heart of Russia | David Greene

A #TimeBombTown ...or two or three...appears in this book.

I loved this one - Greene takes a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway to see how Russians live far away from Moscow. It‘s an eye opening endeavor, and it‘s quite apparent long held fears still exist. Though written nearly a decade ago, I would argue that some of these beliefs and fears in this book still haunt Russia today. A good travelogue and political piece. #SoaringScores
