This is not a horror novel, in my opinion. So you need to let that idea go. You're going to have to stick with this one. It's confusing & complicated. It feels unrelated & disjointed. Don't give up!! I wanted to & I am so glad that I didn't. Read the afterword ONLY after you have finished the book. The author devoted so much time & attention to getting this right.
