#camplitsy. Finally finished! 🤦‍♀️ I really enjoyed this. Not just because of the gorgeous cover and great title (which I adored), but I loved the vibrant writing and language. It‘s a sexy, sultry, messy love story, not for those who find insta-love annoying (I‘m not one of them!) The complicated, intense attraction and connection through personal loss and creativity made sense to me. (Continued in the comments)…

KarenUK ….And I really rooted for Feyi. I connected with all her messiness, her insecurities and self doubt, her walls she put up one minute, only to take impulsive risks the next. Great summery read for me. Seems like I‘m in the minority though! 😂 4 stars for me (but I‘m a #starslut so what do I know! ?🤷‍♀️ (edited) 2y
squirrelbrain It does seem like you‘re in the minority doesn‘t it?! Glad you loved it! 2y

Thanks for the tag @RaeLovesToRead 🥰

- My reading goal is to do my usual #pop22 , #booked2022 and read at least 100 books…. But really, it‘s always just to read things I love, and to seek out beautiful writing that moves me….(and to continue to take pride in my title of #starslut when it comes to books!)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- (Two words) Kindness and Joy… to be, seek, think, find, create…..
- Loving it so far….. 💕📚

Marie de France is forced out of Eleanor of Aquitaine‘s court in the 1100s, to set up an abbey. This is historical fiction at its best; I was totally enthralled, even though there wasn‘t a storyline as such.

I agree with comparisons to Hamnet, and to Wolf Hall, I think because we live inside the MC‘s mind and learn so much by doing that.

I didn‘t get bored Cindy but, whilst it‘s a 5 star read, I‘m not sure it will make my best of the year, Meg.

Cinfhen Beautiful review!! I enjoyed it too, but I did get bored at times. 3y
Megabooks Ah! I‘m still glad you loved it enough for a 5⭐️ though! 💜 3y
TrishB Great review Helen ❤️ 3y

Caroline2 Sounds good, stacked. 👍 3y
BarbaraBB You must have read a lot of five star reads for this one not making it to your favorites! 3y
squirrelbrain I‘m a bit liberal when sprinkling stars about @BarbaraBB - I do have quite a lot of 5 star reads! 3y
BarbaraBB That is wonderful! I hope this one got you out of your a-bit-of-a-slump ❤️ 3y
squirrelbrain Just checked @BarbaraBB - I have 33 5-star reads so far this year, that‘s nearly 20% of my reads! And yes, I think I‘m on my way out of my slump…. 😘 3y
KarenUK I think me and you are #starsluts Helen, whereas @Cinfhen is a self-proclaimed #starScrooge 😂😉💕 3y
squirrelbrain More than happy to be a #starslut ! @KarenUK @cinfhen 🤣 3y
Cinfhen I think as I age I‘m getting looser 🤪 @KarenUK @squirrelbrain I feel like I‘ve had LOADS of 5 star reads this year 3y

@CoverToCoverGirl thanks for the tag! Here are some of my #5FiveStarReads from this year. As you can tell from my previous yearly star average I‘m liberal with the stars. A book doesn‘t have to be totally perfect but it has to make me feel, make me think, it has to talk to me months later, and sometimes it can be the pictures conjured by the prose. Tagging anyone who would like to play.

TrishB Some great ones there 👍🏻 4y
CBee Hooray for another “liberal star giver” I‘m the same!! 😂 4y
Michael_Gee I so agree, Reggie! 4y

vivastory So many great books 4y
rwmg Another 'liberal star giver' here. And on litsy most books get a pick. A few get a so-so. Very few get a pan, because they are more likely to get a bail. 4y
CoverToCoverGirl I‘m a liberal star giver too! 4y
KarenUK I am a proud #starslut !! 😊 4y
Chrissyreadit I loved Mama Day when I was a million years younger- I need to reread it but based on your post I‘m positive it will hold up to a reread. Bluebird Bluebird is high on my IRL TBR. 4y
Reggie @Chrissyreadit Attica Locke has made me fall back in love with mystery. And even though there is racial tension in her books there‘s also a lot of love. I hope you like it. And Mama Day makes me think of all the women in our family. I loved that book. 4y
Centique Yay Potiki made it! I have a lot of these books on my TBR. Hope to get to Real Life soon. 😍 4y
Reggie @Centique Potiki is easily in my top 10 this year. You‘ll like Real Life, Paula. 4y
Centique Hey @Reggie just jumping on to this old post to say My God. What a week. I‘ve been glued to the news and reading tons of different US newspapers to try and work out if the tide has finally turned. Hope to God that the shock of this wakes a whole lot of people up. Much love and strength to you and yours - I hope you‘re all coping ok with this stress. 🙏💕💕 4y
Reggie @Centique sadly, I think it‘s just the beginning. And what‘s funny in the worst way is the way they‘re turning on each other. Now calling for Mike Pence to be hanged. Following Lindsay Graham at the airport. I don‘t like the guy but I was genuinely afraid for him. It only takes that one person to light the match. And they‘re all so blindly following Trump because they think that‘s what power looks like. Even here on Litsy and you were right to use 4y
Reggie an old post, but we have two healthcare workers who support trump and I‘m just like why. On the day of the Capitol riot we had our highest COVID death day. 4000. Why? Because their guy doesn‘t believe in science. Another girl has a dairy farmer for a husband and was scared that Biden got elected. Trumps trade war with China has cost millions of farmers like her husband to lose dairy contracts. Contracts that aren‘t coming back because other (edited) 4y
Reggie countries have already filled them. Like we‘re the app that reads books and I just don‘t understand how they still support someone like that. And worst of all they act like theyr the victims. And this whole keep Litsy positive crap. How can we when we‘re hurting so much as a country because one person who breeds so much negativity. We‘re a country with only 5 percent of the whole world‘s population that goes around like a bull in a China shop and (edited) 4y
Reggie something just needs to happen. If we can‘t do it from the inside hopefully the rest of the world figures something out about us. Sorry for vent, Paula. And thank you for your concern! ❤️ 4y
Centique @Reggie I‘m glad you could have a vent! I did notice a couple of ppl had posted weeks ago things that suggested they were Trump supporters and I was totally shocked. But I guess it just shows how polarised the country has become. And how important it is for there to be widespread trust in some unbiased media so conspiracy stuff doesn‘t get this crazy momentum. It‘s like a cult in that ppl will believe their leader no matter what ... 4y
Centique And I totally hear you about the positivity stuff on here. It was seeing all that which made me scratch my head yesterday... I do hope that some of them are shocked and start to move away from the extremists. They don‘t need to switch sides just get behind a rational Republican. Anyway - you hunker down and know theres a world full of people wanting change for you guys and sending you love 💕💕 4y

Just finished up #Fall for #booked2020 with the tagged book (Thank you Cindy for recommending!💕)

Beautiful writing, with memorable characters and a long lost love story at its heart.... this story somehow had the essence of a fairytale or fable. Unread love letters, gorgeous descriptions of the beauty, aromas and sounds of Burma, and an endearing narrator, all captured my heart. Lovely. 😊💗

Thank you hostesses! 4 out of the 6 were 5⭐️ reads!!!

Cinfhen WOW!!! That‘s fantastic 👏🏼💖‼️Glad you read so many good books.... but then again, you‘re a known #StarSlut 😘 5y
Cinfhen Stoner, which I know you loved is our June bookclub 5y
BookishMe Yes, this is intensely moving story. I am curious if the tagged is your pick for South Asia? 5y

KarenUK @Cinfhen I wear my label with pride! 😂💕..... loved Stoner... it‘s quiet and melancholy and beautiful. Hope you like it. It had been on my TBR forever! 5y
KarenUK @BookishMe Yes. I know Burma isn‘t officially South Asia, more Southeast, but I‘m going with it. 😊 5y
BookishMe Hehehe... Southeast is part of South anyway ;p and if my Geography serves me right, it neighbours with India, definitely south Asia 😉😉 Which prompt was the Towles book for? Like many, I ADORE the Count, and his Co. 5y
KarenUK @BookishMe For Bookclub worthy, as I read it for a bookclub. He‘s my favorite character this year for sure! 😍💕 5y
BookishMe ❣️Remains unforgettable❣️ 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job!! 5y
thevagabondlawyer A Gentleman in Moscow 👏👏👏 4y
Cinfhen Do you want me to count this as part of the spring drawing?? Or wait until fall?? I think you‘ve completed the entire challenge???? #SuperStarReader 🙌🏻 4y
KarenUK @cinfhen I don‘t mind either way, whichever is easier for you... 😊🤷‍♀️ And not quite finished, just two more for summer and I‘m done! (edited) 4y
Cinfhen I‘m gonna count it now so I don‘t forget when Fall rolls around... xx 4y

#Mystarratings #Allthestars
@Megabooks @Marni

I‘m a notorious #starslut , but also quite picky about what I read .... so I rarely give books less than 3⭐️, unless it‘s a bookclub book I felt like I HAD to read! 😂

Daisey The descriptions are very similar to the way I rate, but I give lots of 3-4 star ratings with only a few 5 star ratings a year and even fewer 1 star. 5y
Megabooks Great descriptions!! “Unreadable claptrap” is fantastic!! 😁😁 5y
Billypar I think my system is similar. I give a lot of 5-star reads because I really feel enthusiastic about all of them, and to force some kind of higher bar would feel artificial. But if you assigned me books to read at random, I'm sure it would be a different story. 5y
