Slow meditative look at a woman's life in N.C., from about age 20 to 94, from her viewpoint, well-written and full of family secrets, problems like dark depression, and thoughts on race relations, forgiveness, etc. I recommend it, but it's the only fiction I've read by him. I've heard, Kate Vaiden, is good also. This may not be for those who want something fast or exciting. (Totally opposite from the last book I've read.)

Tamra Sounds interesting! Stacked 4y
KCofKaysville @Tamra. It's pretty good, but it's probably better to read Kate Vaiden first. 4y

Faulkner: A Biography | Joseph Blotner

Maybe more than most people want to know about William Faulkner... #nakedbookspines #riotgrams #biography #faulkner

Leftcoastzen Wow! Guess I did not know there was a two volume biography of him . 6y
laytonwoman3rd It's definitive...published in the early '70's. I saw it in the bookstore when it came out, and bought it with grocery money. I thought I was being pretty irresponsible at the time. My only regret now is that I discarded the dust jackets! 6y
Leftcoastzen Wow , It‘s funny how Book lovers can remember almost every detail when they were a little extravagant . But for me , only regrets were the ones I didn‘t get. 6y

I recently revisited this book. From an adult's perspective, I found the motivations of the characters much more understandable than when I was 17. Her writing is fairly easy to comprehend, making this an easy tick mark off of your classics to-read list!

I had the house to myself this morning and I finished these short stories. O'Connor has such an ear for voices that her character's speech pegs them perfectly. Like O'Henry before her, there is often a twist or surprise at the end, but these are much darker than most of the O'Henry stories I have read. #southernwriter #shortstories

-A little late addition to the #titlewithgood in the #AprilBookShower challenge. I just love Flannery O'Connor and didn't want to miss out on this one!

PrincessLibrarian Love this. 8y
rustoryhuf You need to make a trip to Georgia and visit her birth home in Savannah and Andalusia in Milledgeville. My daughter and I went to far to find her grave. Love her writings. 8y
Jess_Read_This @rustoryhuf We went to her childhood home in Savannah last September! We plan on making the trip to Milledgeville this September. She's just fascinating! When the hurricane went through Savannah last Sept, we lost power and entertained ourselves reading her stories aloud via candlelight. It was one of my most memorable vacations in Savannah! 😊 8y
