The drama of the innovative story line, the way that it tugged at my heartstrings and the believability of what should have been a crazy premise made me wish that this ability could be real. pickThis book was shorter, and in a smaller format, so I finished it in two days. The length did not reduce the impact it had on me. In readable, but well supported, honest terms it underlined the impact of growing up black in the US. It doesn't sugar-coat, and it hammers a point home: racism is real, prejudice exists, and privilege is a fact. It's a eulogy and a manifesto, all in one. #blackauthor #memoir #LRC9 #notmyphoto
