And Then There Were None | Agatha Christie

Pickpick

This is my first Agatha Christie book, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Quick read. Keeps you guessing. Very entertaining.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm so thankful to The Great American Read book list! I have read books that I wouldn't of thought to pick up because of it.
#TheGreatAmericanRead #GreatReadPBS #Readthe100

SW-T Agatha Christie is a wonderful crime writer. Witty and sharp. 6y
BibliOphelia I loved this book from my teen years on. And I still do, as a classic mystery, but in honor of Black History Month, did you know this book was originally titled Ten Little N*ggers, based on the children's rhyme of the same name? It was then polished into Ten Little Indians before reaching the title most people know it by. I mention it as I believe it's always important to realize how pervasive and toxic racism can be. (edited) 6y
Chelsea.Poole I just read this last summer and also loved it! My first Christie as well 😊 I watched the mini series after reading it and it's quite good! (edited) 6y
ItsAnotherJen @BibliOphelia No, I did not know that! Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. 6y

My daughter and I have read a few John Green books together, but we had not read this one from the #GreatReadPBS list. We both liked it and agree on a 4/5 rating. Lots to discuss and always great to talk fictional characters with my girlie.

When I first heard about this, I had read 29 on the list. Now I am up to 33 and started another one just yesterday. I‘ve got five or six more I am interested to read in the near future. #GreatReadPBS

So much better than I thought it would be. So many have called it a children's book but this really is for all ages.
I truly enjoyed reading this through Buck's perspective.

Along Came a Spider | James Patterson

Panpan

Guys, if I'm being honest I just can't do any more James Patterson. His writing is just...ugh for me. I would give the movie of this a shot sometime but the more Patterson books I read the more annoyed I get. Personal preference. Powered through this one for #greatamericanread #gar #greatreadpbs 😵 read this on #vacation and for #boutofbooks #readathon.

Liatrek I got to book 4 or 5 I think and was so mad at this series I never went back. The movie is nothing like the books to be honest but I only saw the Morgan Freeman ones. They are pretty good. 6y
bookandcat @Liatrek I love Morgan Freeman movies, so I feel like I need to give these a chance 6y
ravenlee I find him personally so irritating and smug that I refuse to touch any of his books. 6y

bookandcat @ravenlee I don't know much about him personally but I can understand. I think this is my last attempt to read one of his, I just find the reading experiences more irritating than relaxing :-/ 6y
ravenlee He had at least one TV commercial years back that made me want to punch him in the face. I also feel like he‘s farmed out so much of his series, and while it might be a good leg up for a new writer it also feels like taking advantage of the fans. 6y
bookandcat @ravenlee yeah I feel like Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele do a lot more work and writing than him but he gets more publicity even though it's mostly ghostwriters for him now (and his own writing is...not that good imo). He knows how to build a brand though. 6y

I regret not having read this book much earlier but thanks to the #greatreadpbs I finally did!
I just found out that the character of Minny was written with Octavia Spencer in mind which is amazing since she not only portrayed in the audiobook but the film as well.

I borrowed this once and let it expire and never went back until I saw it on the Great American Read list. I wish I hadn‘t waited this long as I loved it! I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of their surroundings from that time period and the ways they survive and enjoy life in such an unforgiving climate. I need to know what happens next to Ayla and I'll be grabbing the second book soon! #GreatReadPBS #GARbongo #102of2018

MicrobeMom The next one is really good! I just finished it. I loved Clan of the Cave Bear, and Ayla! 6y
Chellebearss @MicrobeMom I ended up starting it right away! Didn‘t want to wait 😀 6y

The Catcher in the Rye | J.D. Salinger
post image

I took the “Which Iconic Novel Are You?” Quiz promoted by #greatamericanread and got The Catcher in the Rye

“Authenticity, truth, and how we find meaning in the world are concepts that preoccupy your waking hours–and you‘re frustrated by the lies people tell themselves. You sometimes wonder if alienation and isolation are humanity‘s default settings. Fun!”
