It‘s been almost a year since my Dad passed away and to celebrate his memory I am doing a giveaway!
This was my Dads favourite book. Growing up I remember seeing this book on my parent‘s bookshelf. I loved being able to discuss it with him when I finally read it. To enter just share a book that reminds you of anyone in the world, and why. #MissmyDad ♥️
I will gift 2 books from someone‘s TBR list using a number randomizer. Picked March 22nd.

Librarybelle What a lovely gesture! ❤️ 9mo
Rissreads Thankyou @Librarybelle It‘s the best way I could think of to honour his memory in a meaningful way to me. 9mo
Jas16 Such a beautiful thing to do. The Diary of Anne Frank makes me think of my grandmother. I still have her copy of the book and can recall her encouraging me to read me when I was young and delighting in discussing it with me. 9mo

quietlycuriouskate ❤️ I have my mum's old copy of Moonfleet. I never once saw her reading, but she said she'd liked this one as a kid. It's set in Dorset, where we were from. 9mo
BarbaraBB My dad had Papillon on his shelves too. He died 18 months ago. I now have his copy and will think of a post. Thank you for organizing ❤️💔 9mo
Chelsea.Poole This is a great way to honor him ♥️ 9mo
marleed Oh what a wonderful way to celebrate your dad. There are couple times when my dad let me select/have his BOTM selection. One was The complete works of Robert Frost and my copy has a very old stamp from BOTM on the end page. But the tagged was also my selection and we both read it. I was the last out of the nest and it became our tagline! I did come across an estate sale hardback copy a couple years back and snatched it up! 9mo
Reggie ❤️This is lovely. I will be thinking about a post. 9mo
CarolynM What a lovely idea❤️ I have an idea. I‘ll work on a post tomorrow. Hugs to you and everyone remembering their dads here @Billypar @LeeRHarry @BarbaraBB 9mo

The author tells his story of being convicted of a murder he didn‘t commit to serve a life sentence in the prison system in #FrenchGuiana. He describes his 8 escapes and punishments as well as friendships and his brief life with Indians. An excellent book. #readingtheAmericas @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

BarbaraBB I read this soooo long ago. Glad to hear it is still so good! 13mo

This is so darned funny and timely as I‘m reading the tagged book. Papillon is the man digging his way out, the dude on the bench is everyone else whose gotten comfortable with prison life and don‘t want to escape. And it‘s for @dabbe even though it‘s not holiday-ish because we all needs #smilesonlitsy

peaKnit I work in corrections, and I‘ve seen it happen where men go in and become prolific readers. I enjoyed talking books with my clients! Beats other things we had to discuss. ☺️ (edited) 13mo
dabbe 🤣🤣🤣 That made me smile AND laugh out loud. Thank you! (P.S. you're on the drawing list!) 🧡🖤💜 13mo

My next audiobook. I‘ve had quite a few short ones in a row so it‘s time for a lengthier book—18-1/2 hours.

Henri Charriére was a safecracker convicted of a murder he didn‘t commit in 1931. He was sent by France to #FrenchGuiana to serve his life sentence. Here he details his horrifying experiences in prison as well as all his efforts to escape. A heavy read with the casual sexism/racism/homophobia unsurprising for the era, this is a clarion call for prison reform.

One activity I enjoy most about litsy challenges is finding new books to read. Tonight I filled in remaining holes in my #readingtheAmericas plan, specifically books I found for #FrenchGuiana (tagged), #Greenland, and #Guadaloupe. Even better, they are all “free” with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and they have good reviews. If you‘re wondering about my color coding, green means the country is completed, yellow means in progress

Librarybelle Hooray! 2y

This was a pick, but only just. Some parts were fascinating but I loved the shortest section, on #frenchguiana most, followed by #suriname and then #guyana, which was much more than half of the book.

The author wrote everything in the present tense, but jumped around chronologically so it was very difficult to follow.

Quadruple dipping again!

Bluebird Great job on choosing books that fit so many challenges. I love your penguin books collection. I was so sad when they changed their covers.. 2y
squirrelbrain @bluebird - I think it‘s much easier at the start of challenges; it‘ll get more difficult the less choice I have. 2y
