Pickpick

I normally zip through Douglas's books. In this one, I reached a point where I guessed what was going to happen and I couldn't finish. Therefore, I put the book down and picked it up again a couple of days ago. No surprises. Just as expected. The plot was good just predictable. 3.5🌟 #Read2025 @DieAReader At just over 500 pages this is one for #ChunksterChallenge2025 @Amiable #AllergicToChunksters @julieclair

#OffMyShelf “Award Winning”
#ChunksterChallenge2025
#AllergictoChunksters

Longlisted for the 2020 International Booker, it also won two German awards per the back flap.

It took me two months to read this 1275 page monster. It‘s a multigenerational saga about a Georgian family from 1900 to 2007. Very melodramatic - I didn‘t particularly like it but appreciated the mental workout of reading in German. I read it w/ a friend & complained to her. 😂

Graywacke I read it in English and i can relate. She depends on well known historical happenings for shock value. But they don‘t have a lock of shock if we all already know about it. That weakens it a bit. 1w
Ruthiella @Graywacke It would have been a stronger book for my taste if it had been edited down. That said, it sold well and many readers loved its emotion and expansiveness. (edited) 1w

BarbaraBB I had a hard fine finishing it in English so kudos for you to read it in German! I didn‘t knew you speak/read German! 1w
Ruthiella @BarbaraBB Yes, I don‘t think it was the translation that made it a chore at times to read. 1w
sarahbarnes Congrats! 🎉 7d

I cannot wait for this discussion. I have so many feelings, and I'm dying to hear what others thought. I was utterly baffled by both of the main mysteries. There was so much going on in this one!

dabbe I'm almost done, and my mind is whirling! And I've read it before! 😱 It's amazing what my brain didn't remember! 🤣 Nine days until d-day! 1w
lil1inblue @dabbe I startled my husband a few times while reading this, because I audibly reacted. 😂 7d

4½✨

Sanderson did it again.
This installment is much slower and less action packed than the previous two, but still ending on a high that leaves me wanting more.

My edition of Oathbringer is split into two books, last night I finished part one.
I don't feel like reviewing only this part is fair as it's not even half the story... but so far it's a pick

This is my #DoubleSpin for March, hopefully I'll finish it in April @TheAromaofBooks
Also this is 1391 pages in total so #AllergicToChunksters @julieclair
#ChunksterChallenge2025 #CollosalChunkster @Amiable

Amiable Excellent! 👍🏼👍🏼 3w
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3w
julieclair That qualifies as a chunkster for sure! 😉 Glad you‘re liking it so far. 3w

My next (mini) chunkster! This one is not as long as ones we‘ve read in the past, but I‘m trying to be realistic…my oldest graduates at the end of May. Senior year is definitely as busy as I‘ve been warned, and I‘m definitely starting to feel all the emotions! 👩‍🎓

Amiable I didn‘t get emotional until senior year of college. Because they came home every summer until then. It was that graduation where they moved out for good that got me in the feels. 😬 4w

Two thumbs up 👍! This was my 3rd time reading this and it never disappoints-especially since I never remember the details! 😆 If you‘re going to read one Victorian Gothic novel, make it this one; epistolatory and perfectly paced. Thank you to @BarkingMadRead for leading the #HashtagBrigade ! 🙏

This counts toward my #AllergictoChunksters / #ChunksterChallenge2025 at 626 pages!

I listen to this mostly and the Blackstone audio production was 👌

Amiable I‘ve never read this one— will have to add to my list! 1mo
Ruthiella @Amiable Awesome! I think you will like it. Also, if you do audio, it‘s particularly a great option for this one due to its structure of multiple narratives. 1mo
julieclair Great review! I totally enjoyed this one, too. 1mo
Ruthiella @julieclair It‘s definitely a winner! 🤩 1mo

This is the conclusion to Binding 13. Loved it just as much as the first book. The author got you inside of the characters' heads. Great descriptive prose and a kick ass plot. It had all the feels. 5🌟 These books have to read in order. #SeriesLove2025 @Andrew65 #LitsyAtoZ2025 book title addition @Texreader

TheSpineView #ChunksterChallenge2025 @Amiable #AllergicToChunksters @julieclair This book comes in at 667 pages. Which I read in just three days. 1mo
