Today‘s op shop purchases with my discount card. I looked forward to doing this all day. Grand total $24. No ballet = more op shopping time 😢 I spoiled myself with a cheesy naan for dinner and a glass of red. I had to intake test a child with a history of violence today but it all went well.

A cookbook for #adventrecommends day 18! (I‘m a bit behind thanks to visits).

A genuine budget cookbook from someone who‘s actually lived on the poverty line, unlike a lot of the ‘cheap eats‘ books out there (do not get me started). The recipes are great, the costs are even better; the banana bread is delicious.

My first time cooking from a recipe book! I‘m a rubbish cook and I think I‘m starting later than some people, I‘m 23 but I lived pretty solidly in accommodation with no kitchens from the age of 18 till last year. I get a bit disheartened by being a slow starter but sometimes I produce edible things and I‘m trying really hard. It‘s important to me to learn to cook and have some real practical skills. Jilly6183 When my husband and I started dating, he set off the smoke detector trying to fry an egg. He was 28. And now he's the best cook I know. So 23 is not late at all. Keep at it! 6y

Emilymdxn @Jilly6183 that‘s really helpful thank you! My boyfriend is a total natural cook, somehow it all just comes to him and goes great! Not that I should complain, it‘s amazing. I‘m more of a baker i think but I‘m trying to get better at all of it! 6y

Tamra Cooking is hands on learning and you can totally do it! I was about your age when I got into cooking via PBS cooking shows because I was bored and now I love to cook. Go for it! You‘ll make mistakes, we all do because it‘s lifelong learning, but that‘s okay! It should be fun and immersive no matter the end product. 😋 6y

audraelizabeth Dont worry, I turn 30 this year, i can cook 6 things well but can read a recipe. My grandma turns 81 this year and cant make gravy. 6y

Weaponxgirl @Dogearedcopy yes I see them as needed at the moment but I hate the fact that they are needed and being used as an example by Tories of how generous a nation we are. I just loved that this guy was trying to bring back dignity both for the people using his service and the people who work for him having a living wage. 7y
