Just a heads up! All 10 tpb volumes of The Sandman comic are on sale at comixology right now for 5 bucks US a pop! 🤑🤸‍♂️🤑

Thats a pretty good deal - and with the news of the Netflix series being greenlit or you have never read these...and you like digital comic book reading...now's a pretty good time to give this AMAZING series a go.

Sale end 7/31.

GrilledCheeseSamurai I own various physical editions of this series but did t have them digitally so I was pretty happy to get all of them at that price! Guess it's time to fit in another read through. 🤷‍♂️ 5y

Here‘s my very busy collage of stats from Goodreads. I‘m irritated that the year review & challenge numbers don‘t match, but I think trying to find the discrepancy will make me more stressed, so I‘m leaving it. This is the most I‘ve read in a year, thanks to Litsy buddy reads & book groups, reviewing (for SLC and NetGalley), and judging a book prize (for IBPA—still in progress). Tagging some of my fellow readers who have read with me this year!

jpmcwisemorgan Mine didn‘t match either! I‘m glad it‘s not just me. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great year!!! 6y

Daisey Looks like a great year! Congratulations! 🎉 My totals don‘t match either. I‘m pretty sure Goodreads is counting a book twice somewhere (I found one like that), but I‘ve given up on finding the problem. 6y

11 volumes in total, The Unwritten comes just after Sandman as my all time favorite comic series. It is a reading journey that I highly recommend and I am curious if any of you #CBBR peeps are down with giving this a go?

If so, lemme know in the comments, as well as how fast (or slow) of a time commitment I should make the schedule. I was thinking 3 weeks a volume but am open to whatever works for everyone.

DGRachel I‘m game! Whatever schedule you pick, I can make work. 😊 6y
Ingerella Volume 1 is on Hoopla so I'm definitely game to start! 6y

Eyelit One of my fave series! I‘m in for a readalong if it‘s your proposed schedule (or even adjusted either way I can probably make it work) 😃 6y
mcipher I‘m in, whatever schedule you like is good. I tend to devour graphic novels if i like them so they are fast reads for me. @Ingerella Thanks for the Hoopla tip!! 6y
ElishaLovesBooks I‘ll see if I can borrow it from a friend! It sounds interesting!! 6y
CareBear I would love to join! 6y
cobwebmoth I liked the first volume, so I would be interested in reading more. 6y
TK421 Sounds interesting. I'm in. 6y
Marmie7 I just put the first two volumes on hold. Ready whenever you are! 6y
ReadingRover Awesome! I put it on hold at the library. 6y
shendrix413 Oh I'm in! ❤️ ❤️ 6y
tjwill The premise looks great, but my library doesn‘t have it, and I don‘t think I can justify buying 11 volumes right now. I might have to sit it out for this run. 😔 6y
Eyelit Is this still happening? Did I miss anything? 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @Eyelit Yes! It is! You haven't missed anything. I kind of dropped the ball a bit. Life got in the way. I'm hoping to get details up on my days off coming this weekend for start date/etc... 👍 6y
Eyelit I totally understand life getting in the way! So glad I didn‘t miss out 😁 6y

Pickpick

This story is based on Sherlock (title and mystery are based on A Study in Scarlet) and Lovecraft‘s Cthulhu (the old ones who are well known and even in the public eye), without ever stating those names. I loved this graphic representation of a supernatural mystery.

Everyone still has time to grab this for #cbbr! #WeveGotIssues

Pickpick

Another interesting pick for #WeveGotIssues #CBBR. I really enjoyed this mash up of Sherlock Holmes and HP Lovecraft. Not a huge fan of the art, but I liked the story. Victorian Royal Family question in the spoiler comments, if anyone has any insight it would be appreciated. 😘

DGRachel Why are Queen Victoria and her family often portrayed as not-human or not completely human in Sci-Fi and Fantasy tales? I‘ve seen them portrayed elsewhere as werewolves and wasn‘t there a theory that one of the princes was Jack the Ripper (who while maybe technically human was definitely a monster) 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'm gonna read it this coming Monday on my day off! 🤗 6y

Haaaallo #CBBR friends! With summer being so busy and vacationy #WeveGotIssues decided to take July off. We're back for our August pick & its a first time for me where I haven't actually read our choice beforehand.

Kinda hard to go wrong with Neil Gaiman though! ❤️

I'm so excited to dig into A Study In Emerald and hope that y'all can join in & post pictures and thoughts as you read it this month! Discussion post will be Sept. 2nd.

@TricksyTails

DGRachel Oh yay!!! I was worried I‘d missed a post with the July pick! Off to find a copy of this one...thanks for doing these! I‘ve really loved trying out new comics! 6y
