A new episode of The Checkout Stack featuring @monalyisha and Megan Tully from the Ames Free Library in MA just dropped this morning. Tune in for a great set of book recommendations and a bonus cozy TV show which I enjoyed while recovering from a cold.

thecheckoutstack Thanks so much for listening @BookmarkTavern! 4w
Chelsea.Poole Just finished the episode. Really enjoyed hearing @monalyisha and all the recs. This may just be my favorite new podcast!?! (I don‘t listen to podcasts but maybe I do now!) 4w
monalyisha Aww, thanks @Chelsea.Poole & @BookmarkTavern! I don‘t typically listen to podcasts either but you know I think this topic is worth it…and I love Maria‘s passion! I *do* listen to Katherine May‘s podcast occasionally (because of course I do). And I managed to get into “60 Songs That Explain the 90‘s” for a while (the episode about Mazzy Star was my personal fave). 4w

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView

1) I might use either of my teen-age nicknames, both based on fictional characters: Esme and/or Molly

2) tagged - though most people in Germany pronounce my name "Yoollya" ??

TheSpineView Interesting way to pronounce your name. Thanks for playing! 6mo
julesG @TheSpineView A "J" is pronounced like a "Y" (as in you, young, yeah) in German, I don't mind that so much. But even as a native speaker of German I still don't understand why the first syllable is shortened and the "I+A" turns into "Y+A" in most mouths, especially after I've pronounced my name as "YouLeeAh" (exaggeration). Maybe I should change my first name after all. ?? 6mo

The book tells the story of young Riley Cavanaugh, a gender fluid adolescent who writes a blog about their experiences and identity. The story revolves around Riley's life and their eventual decision to come out as gender fluid to the world.

I dip my brush into the surrounding light and begin to paint, erasing the cold blackness bit by bit, replacing it with warm, bright light. I get all the way to the far edge, until there‘s only a sliver of black remaining—
And I reach up with my brush and paint it white.

NEW POST: ONE OR THE OTHER
OCTOBER 1, 6:55 AM
The first thing you‘re going to want to know about me is: Am I a boy, or am I a girl?

I stop typing and stare at the cursor, which flashes at me incessantly, as if mocking my inability to write one stupid post.

Pickpick

Wow. This was very unsettling, unreliable narrators in abundance and very much let‘s you draw your own conclusions as to what “really” happened. I can see why this read has been quite divisive, I found it fascinating!
