If you‘re on the fence about possibly wanting to homeschool and not sure if it‘s for you, this is a good read.

One of the better homeschool books I‘ve read (and I read a lot of them!), though it‘s short on specifics. It‘s philosophy-heavy rather than prescriptive, and while it includes summaries of the main schools of thought (including one I‘ve never heard of) it‘s aimed more at what all homeschool families can embrace together - nature, play, story, creativity, and relationships, for instance. I‘m considering buying my own copy and subscribing. Maybe.
We finished reading chapter 6 of @neildegrassetyson's ASTROPHYSICS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN A HURRY today, and we weren't going to skip an opportunity to make "The Universe as Hot Cocoa"! ☕? 68% dark energy (hot cocoa), 27% dark matter (whipped cream), and 5% regular matter (cinnamon).

Things are in transition with our cooperative school, so I‘ve been doing a lot of hard thinking and brainstorming for next year. This book is just the encouragement I needed, plus the photos are gorgeous. I highly recommend this for any parent contemplating or even in the midst of #homeschooling or #unschooling.
C and I have been reading THE BIRCHBARK HOUSE by Louise Erdrich together. She's 10, but I think there's something special about read-alouds at any age. I first heard about this book from Dr. Debbie Reese, and honestly, I feel cheated that it was never introduced to me as a kid. The language is so beautifully descriptive, the story is rich and sweet and even humorous at times. It's perfect. ❤ #nativeauthors #historicalfiction #kidlit #unschooling
Homeschooling parents and teachers, can you help? 😊 #homeschooling #homeschool #homeschoolinghighschool #booksbrewsandbooze
I'm humbly showing the six books I read in September😌I'm a slow reader but someday....I will read more books per month....someday😉
“Unschooling is simply living, and allowing your children to live, without the specter of conventional schooling and school-like thinking. It is the act of fusing living and learning, of seeing them as one and the same. There is no one way to be an unschooler, no singular path of facilitating self-directed education. There is you, your children, your family, your community—your life.”
Woohoo! I‘ve been waiting for this book for a long time & my preorder arrived today. Kerry McDonald‘s blog, wholefamilylearning.com is excellent. I can‘t wait to dive in!
