Fall On Your Knees | Ann-Marie MacDonald
post image

#timbittunes #theweight

Drawing a long bow here but if you‘re carrying a heavy weight you might fall on your knees right? I read the tagged book when it was an Oprah Book Club pick. And @Reggie ? I think this might be the second most disturbing book I‘ve ever read - and you‘ve read my most disturbing book! 😂 The reveal in this book is burned in my brain. Feels like great historical fiction and then DARK and TWISTED.
I‘ll spoiler tag a TW below.

Centique TW for child abuse and birth trauma 6y
Cinfhen I will not peek, I will not peek, I will not peek.... 6y
Centique @Cinfhen 😂😂 I think you might want to avoid this one btw 6y

Cinfhen Hahahahaha.....now I REALLY want to peek!!!!!!!!! 6y
Reggie Well you and Oprah haven‘t been wrong yet, so stacked. Lol, also, the review before this said it broke her heart 300 times. How can I not stack that? 6y
TrishB Your review sounded great so I went to have a look on Amazon and brought this in June 2012 🤷‍♀️ maybe I need to read now!! 6y
Centique @TrishB 😂 oh how funny. I hope you like it. I kind of loved AND hated it 😳 6y
TrishB It‘s a good job amazon does this otherwise I‘d probably have multiple copies of books! 6y
Cathythoughts I seem to have this one stacked already ✅. I love a saga ... and your review is great ♥️ 6y
Cathythoughts Plus I love the title ♥️ (edited) 6y
Centique @Cathythoughts @trishb if anyone gets upset or squicky about this book it wasn‘t my fault ok! 😂😂 6y
TrishB No blame! 😁 6y
TheKidUpstairs I love this book. And you're right, it moves along line a great historical family story and then suddenly throws that twist at you like a punch to the gut. 6y
Chrissyreadit @TrishB yes- I‘ve gone to look for a book on Amazon only to discover I already had it a few too many times. 6y
TrishB @Chrissyreadit glad it‘s not just me! 6y
TrishB Oh god that birth😱😱 just finished and totally agree...loved and hated.....nearly bailed but carried on! 6y
Centique @TrishB traumatising isn‘t it? 😱😱 And the image of that father rocking his daughter in the rocking chair was so creepy - still makes me shudder! 6y
TrishB Yes several times I was screwing my eyes up trying to read faster at the really bad bits!! 6y
Djspens So I'm interested in knowing what your most disturbed book is! That's my thing! 6y
Centique @Djspens oh well you might enjoy this then! It‘s 6y
Djspens @Centique lol I read some reviews of it, people either loved it or hated it. Looks like I better add to my TBR list. I'm in a dark mood lately. 6y

#TheWeight was the catalyst for the action in this book. #TimBitTunes

Cinfhen Looks fun! 6y
CarolynM @Cinfhen Actually it's more serious than it looks. A bit of a feminist take on body image with some almost The Power like consequences. I'm not entirely sure that I understood it. 6y
Cinfhen I saw that @britt_brooke was a fan!! But our reading tastes run hot & cold 😜 6y
Reggie Oh, I liked this one. I like how ballsy she starts getting. 6y

The Last Temptation of Christ | Nikos Kazantzakis, Peter Bien
post image

“What is truth? What is falsehood? Whatever gives wings to men, whatever produces great works and great souls and lifts up a man's height above the earth - that's true. Whatever clips off man's wings - that's false.”

An explanation of this post is in the comments below. Darn those 451 characters....👇

#TimbitTunes | 12: #TheWeight

📷: Made with Typorama

LiterRohde The quote and photo are influenced by the song‘s imagery and characters, the ideas of burden, temptation, and wanting to do good, as well as the films of Bunuel that inspired the song. I use the following clip of his in the classroom when talking about how imagery and visualization are important to fully understanding what we read (it‘s kind of gross). I never knew it had any relation to this song.

Confession: I love reading about the rich, especially the historic rich. Their schemes. Their homes. Everything. I‘m intrigued by the craze for American heiresses and #TheWeight in gold they could bring to the struggling British aristocracy. I‘ve read some good and some okay nonfiction books on the subject. This came out last year and is on my to read list. #TimbitTunes

Cinfhen Looks good!!! I feel like I‘ve seen this book on @LeahBergen page 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Just like Cora from Downton - stacked! 😍 6y
CollapsingLibrary I find reading these types of books dangerous. They make me throw caution into the wind when making choices with my own social life 😂 definitely looks like a good book though! 6y

Librarybelle @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Yes! I‘m looking forward to the movie! 6y
Librarybelle @hjreviews So true! It makes me daydream about how my own social life could be...😂 6y
LeahBergen @Cinfhen Not this one (but a few others with the same theme 😆). 6y
Cinfhen Hahaha!! You know it‘s bad when im mixing up my 1800‘s vixens @LeahBergen 6y
NatalieR I love this type of book too! It‘s so fascinating how they lived...I certainly will never know! 😜 6y
CarolynM I haven't read this one either, but I've liked other books of hers, especially 6y
Librarybelle @CarolynM I haven‘t that one either...I‘ll have to stack it. Thanks! 6y
ferskner YES. I can read books about rich people's shenanigans all day. I don't know why it fascinates me because I definitely don't aspire to it in real life. 6y

Day 12 - #theweight #timbittunes #theband

I pulled into Nazareth just a feelin' 'bout a half past dead
I just need to find a place where I can lay my head
Mister can you tell me where a man might find a bed?
He just grinned and shook my hand and "No" was all he said
Take a load off Fanny
Take a load for free
Take a load off Fanny
And you put the load right on me

dreadamara One of my favorite bands of all-time! 6y
