#readingresolutions #stateintitle

It's been quite a few years since I've read this quirky southern fiction title but I loved it and the protagonist Peejoe. The book takes place during one summer in the 1960's and Peejoe experiences first hand the prejudices of his town and the civil rights movement.

I almost thought I didn‘t have a book with a #stateintitle, but then I remembered I just picked this one up a couple of days ago at a library sale. Yay me!

My #readingresolutions pick for #StateInTitle is this upcoming release from Lauren Groff. I initially went looking for a book featuring my home state, and ended up with another addition to my TBR!

#StateinTitle

I searched my shelves, but NOTHING with a State in the title. So I had to be a little more literal. I really liked this book, but Bel Canto is still my favourite Patchett.

#ReadingResolutions @Jess7

LeslieO Bel Canto is my fav, too. I just picked up Commonwealth from the B&N bargain table. 7y
SqueakyChu I‘m probably the only person around who disliked Bel Canto. It only made me drowsy. I gave Anne Patchett a second chance by reading State of Wonder, and (wonder of wonders, no pun intended), I really liked this book! Anne Patchett made it back onto my list of good authors. (edited) 7y
britt_brooke @SqueakyChu I didn‘t like Bel Canto either, but want to try her again. Glad to know you enjoyed State of Wonder. Maybe I‘ll try that one sometime. 👍🏻 7y
Ruthiella Loved Bel Canto and State of Wonder! 7y

Bought this book on a whim and loved every minute of it! A futuristic, hard-boiled detective, noir-ish sci-fi story.

It‘s referring to the river, but it still works.

#stateintitle #readingresolutions In non fiction it‘s a little bit easier to find titles! I‘m kind of a sucker for neon and roadside architecture books. The California Book is really interesting as it shows the old Spanish and Mexican land grant ranchos that were active just before California statehood. Many remnants of those cultures have remained or are at least place names all around the state. Both the AZ and NM books seem like labors of ❤️.

Suet624 Wow. Such great books and I appreciate your interest in the subject matter. 7y
